This place is good for shopping everything that you want in your kitchen to make you a meal. The employees are very friendly, and all of them treat you with respect. I like this store.

I normally dnt have a problem coming here but today 5/18/2024 around 5:15pm I came to get a drink at Starbucks and a girl named Julie was super rude the way she spoke to me when I asked her questions about a drink it’s not my fault she’s so miserable she needs to check her customer service skills because she has none! I decided I didn’t want a drink because I didn’t want her to rub her misery onto my drink not only that the way she handed me the cake pop she just rudely put it on the counter and I had my hand out to get it she’s lucky because i honestly felt like I wanted to fight her.

I always find what I need at Safeway, the employees are always working very hard stocking shelves and fresh fruits and veggies...cant ask for a better store to shop.

My local store point I don't know why, but I always choose to go here over QFC. Just feels comfortable and I like their options. They have a good deli, great breads, easy pharmacy, and meat and seafood counter has lots of options. The staff has also worked here for so many years. They're always happy and smiley and helpful. I've been in the Newcastle area for about 18 years.

Unsafe place of business.
Review based on data collected 1/14/24 to detail safety & compliance concerns.
This is but a small snippet of a full detailed report.
It doesn't help when you compile a 10,000 word detailed bullet pointed report and give it to a Store Director so that they might taken corrective action but instead pulls you into a stockroom, put their arm around your shoulders and says (and I quote "I thought you were on my team." "You were a good pick".)
As someone who takes consumer and workplace health and safety seriously, this business causes me massive anxiety.

Food Safety
-Just an observation but a very concerning one. I asked multiple associates in multiple different fresh departments where I could find a hair net and not one of the 4 different employees I asked knew or even thought they had them in the departments.
-The bottom shelf of a food storage fixture is collapsed in the freezer inside the double doors in the stockroom closest to the pharmacy. Product is on the ground of the cooler and not compliant.
- At one point the previous week I noticed an employee, who is usually scheduled as a cashier, scheduled for crossover department duty and before her shift started at midnight, she went into the Deli Department which had already been cleaned and sterilized and heated up and cooked her own personal 33.5oz pizza in the deli XpressChef cooking oven before her shift and did not clean up and sterilize afterward. Highly concerning.
- No one had cleaned, sanitized, or sterilized the Oliver bread slicing machine in the bakery department after the department closure.
Handling of data
- This previous week I witnessed a cashier access and view a folder/file with Personal Identifiable Information. Specifically, location and financial data. The employee in question was flipping through pages of multiple different individuals' physical payroll documents with protected information on them. This was done in plain view of the Bookkeeper for this location and was not treated as 'out of the ordinary'. This specifically is highly concerning to me, and I consider it a violation of the employees' trust and definitely not in compliance with the Albertsons Companies company values, financial responsibility and the responsibility to protect the employee's data and personal information.
Physical Safety
-Unsafe product storage in produce cooler. Pallet with product on it double stacked on top of product with pallet underneath it and leaning
-Unsafe invoice storage on top of receiving office. Pile/Tower is leaning
-Unsafe stacking and storage of used collapsable Tosca containers by receiving door. Leaning
-Unsafe storage of Papyrus shipper. On top of a flight of seven stairs 1/3rd of pallet hanging off top stair
-Pallet w/ milk crates w/ 210 gallons of H2O 1752.5lbs on top of stockroom staging fixtures
-Congealed milk inside of the cooler for at least 6 hours. Rancid. 3 large areas 15 ft in total covered in swaths of residue
-Wet sticky substance on floor in 2ftx2ft area in front of bakery mixing machine after department closure
Electrical Panels
-Panels blocked in the deli by boxes and file cabinets.
-Panels in Stockroom North Hallway blocked by U-boats
-Fire Chief Panel blocked by carts of backstock
-Fixtures being stored in the compressor room
-Panels in the stockroom by the door to MEA blocked by pallet of Gatorade.
Emergency Exits
-Freight cart blocked access to doors on south side
-Exit doors blocked by u-boat of broken down cardboard inside of bakery
-Exit by baler was blocked by 300lbs engine on wooden pallet

I’m a regular at this Safeway and for most of the time my experiences have been positive. However, about a week ago I was here on a weekday morning returning an empty glass milk bottle. Since I had to get my milk deposit back, I checked out at the cashier. The cashier was a middle-aged woman, who didn’t greet me nor smile, and impatiently said “you need to put in your credit card” when I was already taking out my credit card from my purse. What truly enraged me was then she walked away, without completing my checkout process but went to the self-checkout counters to help someone else, neither did she say anything about having me wait for a bit or feeling sorry about it. I had to wait for quite a while until she was back, again with no apology, no smile, no explanation of why she left in the middle of my checkout process, with my credit card still in the slot. Indeed, extremely rude service. It was a weekday morning so there weren’t many customers around. I’ll start to look for other grocery stores to shop at now.

Do not ware your time with in line ordering here. I placed an order the night before and minutes before I’m supposed to pick it up they called to tell me they’re out of stock. I go on line and the item still shows I stock. Thanks for wasting my time.
