We had been very satisfied clients of HAWC for more than a decade. During Covid, the clinic needed to make changes to protect his staff so all exams were done without pet parents in the building, which was completely understandable. When Covid began to calm down parents were allowed back in the building (with masks of course) however the clinic never went back to doing exams in the room with the parents/owners. An email was sent to all clients stating that they felt dogs and cats did "better" during exams without us parents in the room so they decided to do exams without us, in a separate area in the back.
What may seem "better" to them is not necessarily "better" to or for the animal. Our dogs MUCH prefer and actually RELY on me to be there for them. They are scared when they go to the vet and having someone they don't know, take them into a back room with scary sounds and smells, is not "better" for them.
It may be easier for you and it may seem like the animals are better, but have you considered they're actually shut down because they're scared?
Leaving HAWC was a very difficult decision. The team is truly fantastic but that policy was/is a deal breaker for us.
We've since found a new vet where we have run into former HAWC clients who have left for the same reason.

Was able to get an appointment the next day. Our dog was handled professionally by people who care for the customers and their patients.

Harmony Animal Wellness Center has been our Veterinarian clinic for many years. Dr. O'Brien has cared for three of our dogs in this time. The staff is always wonderful. Our latest dog has some background issues from before he joined my husband and I. He is vey skittish. Harmony staff is very patient with him and he always does well there.

Dr. Frank and his staff are extremely nice and knowledgeable. They had everything they need it to make a rapid and accurate diagnosis wich saved me a few hundreds dollars for not having to do any further dna tests to find out the cause of my French bulldog puppy having blood in his stools. They explained everything I needed to know about my puppy's condition and made sure I understood the what, when, why and how of the medicine they were sending me home with. I'm so glad I have found this clinic they really do go above and beyond for their patients. The team is amazing! Will not go anywhere else. - Kaio Lopes

One of my dogs randomly started exhibiting signs of anxiety at the vet for the first time around age 6, and it was progressively getting worse every visit (shaking in the parking lot, refusing to walk in the building) so I decided to try this place after a lot of research and I'm so glad I did! Both my pups love it here, we pull into the parking lot and they get excited to go in and love all the staff members. Everyone is so knowledgeable and patient, willing to answer any questions I have and always so loving to my crazy dogs. Any concerns I have, no matter how small, are always taken very seriously and the communication/education is top tier. I feel like they genuinely want the best for my dogs and I trust them 100% with their care. Thank you to the whole team for being so amazing, Jack and Freya love you guys :)

Have 4 dogs and a kitty that have been going to Harmony Animal Wellness since we got them. They are now about 14, 9, 10 and 1year. Would never ever go anywhere else. They give all of the options for care and associated cost and let you choose. They really want what’s best for your pet. We have had emergencies and they followed up even though we went to an emergency clinic, not Harmony.They have been so amazing answering questions when the dogs eat something weird or wrap their leg in their harness so tight and twisted we feared it was broken. They never insist on appointments unless it’s life or death (enter said trip to emergency clinic).They ALWAYS call me promptly when I leave a message.The clinic itself is a house. No metal tables. Real chairs and rugs. Just overall exceptional care.Love them.

Raving fan here!!! The staff and doctors are all outstanding! Extremely compassionate and kind in all interactions with my pups and with me. They seriously take your pets overall health, happiness and wellness into account with everything that they do! I have felt fully supported and honored along my dogs health and wellness journey! I never feel pressured or shamed to make any certain choice. Awful, uncaring service. The vet's ok. Staff shouldn't be allowed to interface with customers. Unfortunately, thats the main part of being a veterinarian.
