I have been going to Mercer island vet for years now for my two cats and they are hands down the best vet I’ve worked with. I have one cats whose timid and anxious and another who is rambunctious and eats everything in site and they treat both with incredible care and thoughtfulness. Last week when my cat needed emergency surgery they got me right in and helped me through the entire process, I could not be more grateful and recommend them to anyone with pets in the area

Sadly the level of care and communication has significantly diminished over the years. We will be leaving this practice as we have experienced better care elsewhere.

I have a fearful dog, and was referred here by a friend. All of the clinic staff I've dealt with have been supportive, helpful, and clearly knowledgeable. We got plenty of guidance prior to our visit, and our dog got plenty of patience, space and calmness during the visit. Dr. Wu was able to get most of the exam done through a variety of methods that were very subtle. She had me assist with a few easy things so that we could keep the experience as positive as possible. It was a peaceful experience for the humans and the dog!

So, so, SO grateful for the Mercer Island Vet Clinic. My dog doesn’t have any serious medical issues and could realistically receive a sufficient level of care at the vet clinic that’s only a 3-minute drive from us, but I will still drive 30-45 minutes to bring him here.My dog is very fearful of new people and we have only had stressful visits at the past two clinics we’ve been to, even with me notifying the clinic that he’s fearful and providing specific instructions on how to greet him. Happy visits didn’t help—the clinics quickly became “poisoned” and his anxiety got worse every time we pulled into the parking lot.The team at the Mercer Island Clinic just gets it. You let them know you have a fearful dog (they have a survey and everything) and they know what to do from there. Their whole check-in process is designed so that your pet doesn’t encounter other people or animals, which seems like a no brainer if you have a reactive pet. The entire team is fear-free certified which helps ensure consistency from the start of your visit to the end.Dr. Roller specifically has been so great, patient, and respectful. The client services team (specifically Kassandra who always gets back to my annoying emails and questions so quickly!) is top-notch.Admittedly my dog probably doesn’t LOVE going here, but I am really optimistic that we’ll get to a point where he will tolerate it without a lot of fear, and I think that’s a great place to start.

I was referred to MIVC after feeling a bit defeated on my dog’s fearfulness and reactivity at the vet. After many failed attempts at simple routine care at his original vet, it was time to explore other options. I am now kicking myself for not knowing about fear free veterinary care sooner because my experience with MIVC has been literally AMAZING. I am 30 minutes away from the clinic (without traffic) but would drive hours if I needed to for this level of care!We started out with cooperative care visits with Monique which were so helpful in getting my dog comfortable being in a clinic environment and prepping for routine procedures. We have since been able to find a great medication protocol for Red prior to his visits, and he had a successful appointment which consisted of x-rays, mass removal and a dental. Monique knew all the tricks at setting us up for success for our appointment and beyond, and I am still shocked with how well my dog has been doing. He has since now been getting weekly laser therapy visits with zero stress and all tail wags (mind blown). The rest of the staff is also amazing, including Dr Crocker who did a great job with him for his dental and being super informative and thorough any time we talked whether it was on the phone or once I arrived to pick up my dog. Every time we have walked through the doors, my dog is excited to see the staff (I never thought this would be possible). Overall I would recommend MIVC to any dog owner, especially one who has a dog that isn’t a fan of the vet. Picture: My dog soliciting pets from a staff member

Exceptional care! My cat had a chipped canine and they were able to do a root canal to save the tooth and improve her lifelong quality of life. Despite the delicacy of the procedure (my cat is just 7 pounds, and the tooth in question is tiny) everything went well and a year later the tooth is looking good and my cat is happy and healthy.

We have been taking our dogs and cat to MIVC for at least 6 years now and have always had a positive experience. We love how the vets make every effort to help our pets comfortable and less anxious when they arrive. The front-desk team is incredibly responsible and helpful on email for scheduling, refilling prescriptions, and getting answers to questions on the fly. We moved away from Mercer Island years ago but still commute in to take our animals here - 5/5, highly recommend!

This morning we found a dog with no collar. Walked around for a while, but no one was aut there to claim it. Called the clinic to scans the dog for a chip. They responded immediately and asked us to bring the dog. Shortly after the successful scan, the dog's "mama" showed up at the clinic... Success! They got reunited...Good job. Kudos for the folks at the clinic. Very professional. Keep it up.

Wonderful fear-free care for my anxious dog. The only vet I've found who is willing to take time to work with a reactive animal.

Overall a well run clinic. I live half an hour away but will happily come back to continue routine care for the reasons below:1) Staff is fear free trained. My dog generally doesn’t like getting touched and can be wary of strangers but was wagging his tail through much of the visit since they made efforts to comfort him and watched for his response as they went through procedures. For comparison, the previous local vet I came from cornered my dog with needle with no attempt to distract him and was upset when he growled lol.2) My dog typically is sedated for vet visits but his meds expired and I was concerned about how much we would be able to get through. Dr. Wu was thorough with her exam (while respecting my dog’s comfort level) and communicated her findings and addressed any requests from me clearly. I had a barrage of questions (dog has skin issues, a bit of anxiety, possible injuries from launching himself off high objects) since my other recent visits to another vet didn’t address my concerns.3) I can tell Monique was very thorough going through our past vet records and knowledgeable with behavioral issues. Her questions were filling in the gaps and not just having me reiterate everything like I typically do for new clinics.4) REACTIVE DOG FRIENDLY. Without me having to ask, they check for other people/animals in the lobby and what not when we enter/leave. It seems like a no brainer, but not every practice is mindful of making visits less stressful when reactivity is not uncommon.A little bit can go a long way in making vet visits less stressful for pets and owners and I appreciate the attention to detail here.

I brought my dog who is fearful of the vet here to work with Monique on some cooperative care elements: getting her ready for weekly injections, getting her ready for a cardiac ultrasound, etc. Monique was extremely helpful and wonderful with my anxious dog. She gave me very useful practical tips on how to continue working with my dog at home. I'm very grateful and we'll be back to see her again to continue our work!

LOVE them. They put lidocaine on the areas they were going to give give my puppy shots and they also gave her a lick mat with cheese on it. Pup didn't notice a thing. They also helped with some socialization.Prices are very reasonable too!Thank you Mercer vets for making vets a positive experience for my pup!
