After applying for and being approved for a MilStar account, a relative purchased a Christmas gift for the kids for pickup at this location. I was listed as the pickup person. An email was sent stating these were ready for pickup. I left work early to pick up the items, thinking it would be a great surprise to show up with the gifts. I used my VA card and went into the store to pick up the items. Once inside, an employee acting as the Exchange CEO told me they needed some type of confirmation from a higher up in Virginia before I could pick the items up. They were paid for, switched to ready for pickup, and now told something completely ridiculous. I called the 877 NEX number once I returned to my car. They told me on the phone they have never heard of such a store policy. They called my Mother the next day and said they needed to verify the account, which they had done twice before. At this point, the actions seem targeted, and just like Navy Federal, I have no confidence that this is NOT racially motivated discrimination. Once she verified, they said they would call the store for next steps. I called the store, and they asked what happened with the call, as if no one called them. I told them to immediately cancel the order. No longer interested in ever shopping at this location. As a veteran myself, this was the most unprofessional behavior and attitude I have ever experienced. Completely rude and arrogant people at this location, and definitely biased against certain customers. I did file a complaint with NEX, and will be filing one with BBB. Do not waste your time trying to be nice or plesant with these folks. Save yourself some stress and order and pickup at Ft Lewis, Bangor, or Bremerton.

Ordered with the Military Star card for items to pick up. Received the update that they were ready to pick up. Left work early to go pick them up. Once I arrived, I had an employee tell me they pulled the items together but needed authorization from higher authority from who knows where to release them, after they were paid for. I went to my car, called the 877 national Navy Exchange number, gave them the statement they gave me. They told me they never heard of such a policy. I filed a complaint, the phone representative did the same, and will see what the outcome is. Completely unprofessional in every way. Save you time and peace of mind. Try Ft Lewis, Bangor, or Whidbey if you are a Veteran like myself, and can access the base.

The NEXchange has dramatically changed from when it was new 25+ years ago. It has gotten smaller, less merchandise and less selections. Prices can be beat out, from the more numerous stores that now abound between Naval Station Everett and the NEX. Understand that 25 years ago, there was NO commercial establishment between those 10 miles. How do we expect our sailors to travel to this exchange and spend their money when they can find the same items probably for less in the Outlet, Kohl's, Winco, Costco, etc? Yet it is not the Navy Exchanges fault. Unfortunately I find that only top ranked retired and their families will prefer to shop here.

Take pictures of the price of the merchandise before going to the check out, as most things almost always end up being more expensive than advertised. One worker was trying to gaslight me into thinking the price on a product was never advertised at the price I claimed it should have rang up at, even though I saw it literally moments before. Went back and saw that they ended up changing the price of the product. Typical.

Hardly any USN uniform items. Considering it's size it's very surprising they don't carry almost any navy uniform items and they also no longer do any sort of alterations to uniforms here.

Stopped into here 3/13/2022 on our visit to Washington, the place is decently stocked, not too big a selection for clothes, it's kinda like a mid sized Exchange. Employees and staff was very friendly and helpful. Gas pumps are located across the parking lot.

99% of everything is more expensive than Amazon. Even with tax free advantage

At this location they have made A LOT of departments smaller. Selection is worse and prices are not competitive unless they are on sale. Even though you save tax it’s not worth a drive there depending on your location. They also taken away popular names of product when it comes to clothes and using there own brand of which I personally don’t care for. Sizing if off and material is so so. All and all I’ve become disappointed. I used to shop there all the time knowing I’m getting a really good deal. Not anymore.
