Twice now in 6 weeks I have canceled appointments because our dogs died. Both times I called just before appointments to give them an update and see if I should consider an emergency vet or if they could get me in any earlier. Both occasions I was told oh no worries, just keep them hydrated and we will have a vet call you to confirm everything. I never received said calls, followed all instructions and now both my dogs are dead 6 weeks apart. One was 12 years old and just stopped breathing, the other was a 12 week old puppy that went limp and died in the car on the way to the emergency vet. I have always given them the benefit of the doubt but feel as if I have wasted a ton of money and lost two pets because of there lack of compassion and simple follow through. I am not saying my dogs would have lived, im saying that the advice I was given led me to not act when I should have trusted my gut, atleast they both would have had a chance. Without going into more detail I can confirm the on both occasions the emergency vet has questioned advice we were given and has now strongly recommended we never return to this facility. I question if they even provided the right care and advice for the first dog we lost 2 years ago. This has been the most horrendous experience. The employees are nice, the decision making is questionable and the ownership should be fined for operating with such disregard and lack of training in this facility. They have made it very clear it is all about squeezing whatever penny they can out of this place at all costs!

I have been fully satisfied with the care of my dogs. They have been able to work us into their schedule in a reasonable amount of time. They thoroughly discussed treatment options while being sensitive to budget. For both of my elderly dogs, they handled end of life with tenderness and compassion for the dogs and respect for me.

We have been taking our Labs here since the day we brought them home. Unexpectedly we had to say goodbye to our sweet 7 year old Shelby yesterday. Dr Austin and her staff were amazing through the process and helped our sweet girl gain her wings and run free. Thank you for the compassion Dr Austin and staff.

All of the staff are amazing. Thorough and thoughtful and incredibly kind. We switched to this vet when our dog was sick and the vet we had been going to was not responding to our concerns. When we called Animal Hospital of Maple Valley they got us in right away, figured out what was wrong and prescribed meds that solved our dog’s issues. We recently had to say goodbye to our beloved cat and they walked us through the process with so much care and compassion it felt like we were family. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The high reviews are deserved. My rescue/baby came to me un-spayed, and I did a lot of research on vets who provided the best service and prioritized animals' well-being. From booking the appointment a few weeks ago, up to the check-in call today after her spay yesterday, the crew at Animal Hospital of Maple Valley were fantastic. I highly recommend, a team that truly cares about your pet's wellbeing

Dr. Austin has taken care of both our one eyed Frenchie and our crazy, chocolate eating boxer. I believe she gives her best every time she's with me and my pet, and truly cares about us. I sat in her waiting area crying when I thought my boxer may have permanent damage after the chocolate episode and she sat across from me, looked me in the eyes, told me what was going on and said it was going to be ok. And her prices are so reasonable and fair because I think she cares so much. I trust her judgment completely.

Animal Hospital of Maple Valley is a cut above the rest in terms of delivering exceptional care for our beloved pets. They were able to help us out when our cat was having an emergency just after the 4th of July. While it was apparent that there were several other families with urgent situations there as well, they took their time to listen to our concerns and to recommend the best steps for treatment for our baby. Their team exhibits a perfect blend of expertise, professionalism, empathy, and kindness that prioritizes optimal care without pressuring clients into unnecasary expenses. We are so grateful to have such a trusting team we can turn to when needed.

Another corporate owned profit machine that DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR PET. They will happily let your pet die if you can't put up thousands of dollars. They have decided here at maple valley vet to only treat rich peoples pets. And for the record, poor people love and rely on their pets too. Avoid this vet at all costs if you care about your pet.

They truly care about getting your sick animals better and want the best for both patients and pet parents. Thank you management, doctors and receptionists for helping come up with a plan to save my kitty Evo.
After Evo came home they made sure to call and check in on him to make sure he was still doing good and were willing to answer any follow up questions I had. It’s been about a month since he got sick and he has been doing amazing, he shows me extra affection everyday for how thankful he is for everyone. Thank you Animal Hospital of Maple Valley.

Update: I didn’t call to yell at you. You were the one who was yelling and then hung up on me when I was trying to explain my perspective. We live an hour away and chose to drive that far because you were recommended to us. When an emergency visit was offered, we didn’t have enough time to get there. It wasn’t because of neglect. I called an hour before her follow up appointment telling your clinic we might be 10-15 minutes late. Again we come an hour away and traffic was bad. We were repeatedly met with “if you’re more than 15 minutes late we won’t see her and you’ll be charged.” Even after I told and pleated with them about her breathing issues. Thank god we only got there 10 minutes late. But your clinic had no problem keeping us waiting 40 minutes on our first visit. This is not compassionate care, it’s an insult. We did bring up breathing issues on the first visit. I talked about it with the receptionist over the phone. Your job as a vet is to provide a differential diagnosis and this was not provided. You saw Penny as a series of symptoms. Because you didn’t hear a heart murmur then it was fine. I do not believe for one second she had clear lungs and 24 hours later she didn’t especially when Penny was presenting the same on both days. When a vet says “her heart and lungs are clear but you can spend xxx amount of money for more imaging” vs “I don’t hear a heart murmur but they sound like crap. The only way to know for sure is imaging” is very different. We had no problem spending hundreds of dollars at the new vet to get a proper diagnosis. It wasn’t because I’m cheap like you stated. Less than 48 hours after you saw her and said she was fine, the new vet went to aspirate her lungs and it was pure blood. We had hours to make the compassionate decision to put her at rest. I picked my 2 young kids up from their last day of school and had to tell them the dog they are growing up with has to say goodbye.
If I could give this place a negative zero, I would. I brought my 12 yo dog there with complaints of difficult breathing, lethargy and she wasn't eating. They supposedly did xrays and blood work (we got charged $510 for those). Not once but twice in the same week they told me she was fine and said it was due to her aging. The next day I got a second opinion. Within 5 minutes the new vet discovered her heart and lungs weren't working properly. She had a massive tumor on her lungs and they were filling up with fluid, hence the breathing difficulty. If you want lack of compassion, care and knowledge...go there. If you care for your animal and want someone who cares and is knowledgeable, go somewhere else. And I expect the owner of this place to respond and I will gladly let her know exactly what happened. They should be ashamed at how awful their care was.

Today I waited an hour past my scheduled appointment time to be seen Why the 5 star review??? During that hour I waited, there were 3 walk in emergencies that ended in 3 families saying goodbye to their pets. When Dr. Lord came into my room he immediately greeted my pet by name and got down on the floor and let him climb in his lap for a cuddle. Dr. Lord then proceeded with a wellness check on my elderly dog and took the time to answer all my questions and concerns.
What an amazing human!!! The compassion and professionalism this Dr. had for me and my pup after an hour of what must have.been stressful and heartbreaking is why I bring my 4 dogs to this clinic. Thank you Dr. Lord!
I’m sorry you had such a difficult day and grateful for the care you gave Rex today.

Animal Hospital of Maple Valley is fantastic!
Even though I love 23 minutes away I rather go here than anywhere else. I've known Doctor Ashley Austin for quite some time even before she started her own practice. I trust her with my cats because she is very knowledgeable, very caring & loving with my cat's. She truly is a genuine sweet person that really cares for the animals well-being, and would do anything she can to truly help your pet.
The staff here is also very knowledgeable and very sweet and kind. I would also like to mention that the prices here are very reasonable and affordable Then other veterinarians around my area in Renton & Kent. I really do love bringing my cat's here and I will never go anywhere else.
Thank you Doctor Ashley Austin for always being so kind, lovely and awesome!

Do not recommend this vet!!! Our French bulldog was pregnant and we decided to take her to this vet for care. When she was within days of giving birth they took her progesterone levels multiple times for at least 5 days. ($100 each test) we payed almost $900 in tests and they decided to send us home for the weekend and “watch for labor signs”. Isn’t that their job?? She was pregnant with 5 puppies and they all died during that weekend we were sent home. She should’ve been at the vet being taken care of and watched 24/7 until it was time to have the puppies. All they did was apologize and give us a $50 credit. $50 credit for a $3,000+ bill and 5 dead puppies. Never again! This was 100% the vets fault, we even had a second opinion from another vet that confirmed this.
