Definitely a clean store and good finds! Staff are constantly rude and have zero customer service! Petty and privilege mindset! It was 8:30pm and customers come in the door and a staff ask a co-worker rudely: are we still letting people in?! I was confused and asked if they still close at 9pm and they said yes. Just one of several rude remarks and if you need help you are the problem in the store.

worker told me at register that the size xs shirt looked too small for me, proceeded to tell me the price is wrong and that i would need to pay $5 and started giggling with coworkers. then they told me they didn’t want any of the clothes i brought not because they looked out of style but because they were “a little wet” mind you it’s pouring outside and i had to bring everything in without a bag because i needed to transfer out items. ridiculous.

Not worth going there to sell clothes. Even they want to buy your clothes they will offer less than $5 for new clothes with a tag.

Eh. Not the worst consignment shop around but not the best. Staff is always hit or miss when it comes to customer service and price wise, they really do not give you much for what you bring in. Shopping wise though, you can always find some pretty good deals on name brand stuff

I brought in hardly used, brand name clothes and they didn’t take any of it. None it fits me or is clothes that I wear. It would have been nice to get some clothes that I liked for a change and that fit okay. It’s really depressing. I have 2 or 3 shirts. That’s it. Well, at least they attempted at looking at it.

The employees are always really friendly, and they seem to have a great selection of items. They do a very good job at checking everything over and making sure they take the best of the best items. I bring my items here to sell, and they usually let me know at the end things they’re looking for which is helpful! of course they do not give you a lot of money, but I support their mission of having a local sustainable second hand shop!

My first time ever selling clothes here and pretty frustrated they came across some underwear which I can understand if it was used but these two items had tags on them never worn but because they found them they completely stopped sorting through my clothes texted me that they were done had me carry out my bags to the car to remove the underwear bring back in the bags so then they could Resort them again and then offered $15 for three items felt like it was kind of a waste of time and not a single person offered to help even though they saw me struggling trying to carry out the bags to remove a couple of pairs of underwear that had never been worn and tags still attached to them just silly in my opinion because everybody needs underwear. Now if they were used and worn that I would understand why they could not take them but in this scenario that wasn't the case

People should be able to look at multiple purses without others being judgmental on how you look. Hope you have a better day.Edit: was very tired when writing this review. Forgot to mention that her co worker imitated me to her other co worker in front of me. I was so surprised I didn’t react at all, still purchased something bc I’m a regular and usually have very good experiences.she did the super short “thanks” and glared at me. She was blonde, wearing a grey hoodie. I think the establishment would benefit from letting her go based on the reviews. There is no reason to act superior towards anyone for a minimum wage position. Oh and by the way, my disability is what causes me to look different not everyone is perfect and the sooner this worker realizes this the better.

*Ex-employee here giving honest and insightful review!I worked at the Lynnwood Plato's closet prior to it relocating near the Alderwood mall, in the early 2010's. Even then, it was not a great place to work but what position in retail really is.Reading some of the *gasp* scathing reviews, I wanted to unveil some of the mystery. Granted, I'm sure a lot has changed since I worked here, but also, probably not.SELLING your clothes: other reviews are correct when mentioning the grossly inflated upcharge PC puts on its' merchandise once purchased from a customer. You are also right in assuming they only pay customers a fraction of what the garment sold for at retail. However, do keep in mind that PC is not like your conventional consignment store where you have to WAIT until your item(s) sells before you are cut a check and that's after the consigner has taken their portion of the sale in commission. PC stemmed from a similar business model, however, as its repeated in the annoying ad campaigns, you get CASH ON THE SPOT.I'll provide some insight on pricing - generally, this is what we paid customers back in my day:Tank tops: 50 cents - $3T-shirts: ~75 cents - $3Long-sleeves: $1 - $5Sweatshirts: ~$5 - $7Hoodies: ~$5 - $7Athletic apparel: ~$2 - $9Jeans: $1.50 - $20Shoes: ~$1.50 - $10Accessories: ~25 cents - $151. PC uses a computer system to generate their pricing based on style and brand. This system may have changed slightly and updated the amounts the store pays out to customers, but I'll wager that it's close to, maybe pennies more, then the prices listed above.2. The system uses the brand of the garment to place it in a tier. For example: Old navy vs. Free people. The more "expensive" and "desired" a brand is, the better price you as a customer gets*.*The caveat being that brands like Target, Old Navy, or Aeropostale are considered more "basic" or bottom tier brands. Whereas brands like Free People, Athleta, LuLuLemon all price higher because customers are more likely to purchase these name brands of items than the basic ones.3. Along with brand, the "Buyer" also has to indicate the style or quality of the garment. As a Buyer, we had 3 categories to choose from: Basic, Good, Excellent*Each category would increase or decrease the final amount paid for each garment. As a Buyer, we were actively discouraged to price items as "excellent" unless it was something highly desired. - even IF the overall quality of the item would garner it be categorized as Basic or Good. For example: Coach shoes vs. Sketchers-Buyers were discouraged to price most items in a buy as excellent because: it would mean a higher amount paid to the customer and a higher price for PC to sell it at (which sounds good but then there is a high risk the item won't sell; but honestly this was more common with accessories than clothing).4. What are highly desired brands, you ask?LLL, Free People, Hudson, 7 For All Mankind, Nike, Adidas, Coach, UGG, etc.*This is not to say that automatically customers will get the top amount possible if they bring in these brands, but the condition of items would have to be really rough, to the point of rejecting them. Otherwise, we'll take your $140 Hudson jeans from you, give you $20, and sell them for $50-$60. You're welcome!*if you're still with me, thank you*Many reviews I read mentioned how terrible the staff is. Listen babe, you aren't going to receive 5 star service from teenagers that are allowed to wear crop tops and no bra at this establishment. If that is what you want, then you march your self to Bergdorf's because kids now barely have the brain capacity to breathe let alone give you their attention. Lower your expectations. Stop expecting to walk into Plato's closet and have the best experience ever; I am 99% positive you won't. I know my perspective is different than most - I've seen it from both sides. PC is an OK place but that's all it is.

I dont know what others are talking about but all the staff interactions i have had have been wonderful, even when i stay late. I got the prettiest dress ever for 15$ which was 10% of the origonal price the dress was and the staff complimented me the whole time. Maybe that's just because I'm also a teen, but i really like this place.

horrible. employees are disrespectful and rude. they act as if they are superior and look down on you. also brought in a BRAND NEW herschel backpack, levi’s sweatshirt, and aeropostale sweater to which a girl wearing a black hoodie with an embroidered butterfly offered me only $15. $15 FOR A BRAND NEW BACKPACK AND CLOTHES???she was also very rude and basically scoffed at me through the entire process as she told me the other clothes i brought in were “outdated.” overall a horrible horrible experience with horrible people. not worth coming here. never seen such awful customer service in my life.

I went here three times to sell clothes and only once did I get a decent deal. I'm not too disappointed about not getting a lot of $$ out of my clothes because this is a second hand store. While waiting for my clothes I did shop around and they have a decent selection! Definitely a better selection than most second-hands around. The two reasons I give this a two star is because; The service. These girls are so rude, it's almost like they talk to you like YOU owe them something. I get it, we all have bad days but I've been here several times and every single time the workers were very rude. I try not to let it hinder me from going but if you don't want to be judged while you shop than don't go here. The other reason is how dirty this place is. I understand it's a second hand store but jeez, sweep much? It doesn't take much to do a 10 minute cleaning before and after close. Overall: I think this place is definitely going down hill in a few years. Don't waste your time selling your clothes give it to a better cause (which I've started doing instead of Plato's) I will say that it has a better selection and value than Ross, Goodwill, Value village.
