I like what they're trying to do here, but the old hotel is not salvageable. The ownership is great, the amenities are great, the location and pool are great. However, the rooms are not up to par and the bathrooms are small. Also, well after quiet hours the adjacent room was blasting bass and since only one staff member was on site it went on.

I was impressed with the view and the lobby. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the beds in the room were comfortable. However, the rooms are hot even with the window open and the heat off - no a/c. The pillows were small and very uncomfortable, and while the style of the room was cute, the lighting was miserable. If the lights are on, they are so bright you can't see, and if the lights are off, you can't see - there is no in-between. I highly suggest the hotel find some table lamps to replace those! The light above the vanity should be updated to a vanity bulb so you can see your face, not ambient. The bathroom is tiny, and we really missed a coffee pot being in the room and ice being available in the hallway.

The beds were very uncomfortable!!
The curtains in the room did not close—at least a 4 foot gap! . When we asked for another room, we were told that none of the curtains closed all the way. Very interesting trying to get dressed or undressed in full view not to mention the sun in the morning!
There was not hot water the first 3 days of a 5 day stay.
There were ear plugs on the nightstand so that tells you the noise level!
Lighting is terrible!!!
May look nice online but stayer please beware ?

Location, cleanliness, amenities and on site restaurant are all great. Really dig the vibe and people that work there.

Had a wonderful stay! Loved the modern millennial hipster aesthetic of the room. Complimentary bike to ride around town and along the bike path was really nice (though the chains could use some oil/replacement due to the saltwater). Warmed salt water pool and saunas were super nice. Enjoyed that they were open later than most hotels pools are as well (closed at 11pm with adults only after 9pm). Distillery tasting (which was also complimentary with the room) was fun as well. Very close to the beach and easily walkable to many downtown restaurants. Rooms were nice though as others have pointed out not the most silent. That said, there were ear plugs but we didn't end up using them. Overall, a very fun weekend getaway experience!

Is located right off the beach. Nice rooms with an industrial feel. Everything in that hotel has been made with recycled wood and they are very environmentally conscious. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating.

We love staying at the Adrift for our annual summer visit. It ticks all our boxes for what we need from a beach hotel: cool vibe, simple but comfortable rooms, courteous staff, a pool, and a location that is literal footsteps from the beach. Also, it's nice being a walkable distance to the main drag of town, but not so close that noise and crowds are an issue. We also appreciate the free tasting at the distillery and complimentary coffee in the mornings.
This year, we upgraded to a bunk suite in the east building. Having a separate room for the kiddo was a game changer, and the fridge/microwave are a must for our family. Given the lack of carpet on the room floors, there was a little noise up above from folks walking around, but it was not an issue overnight. Also, given the sand we tracked in, having non-carpeted floors and a broom/dustpan in the room allowed us to keep things feeling less sandy underfoot.
We also like their on-site restaurant, the Pickled Fish, but BE WARNED: you do need to make reservations in advance for dinner. We learned that last year, and it made this year's meal way easier... and the view from the restaurant can't be beat!
Definitely looking forward to next year's visit already... again, if you want a convenient, clean, chill spot for the weekend, we highly recommend Adrift!
Rooms: The rooms are simple, but clean and have a good layout. There is some wear and tear about, but given that it's a BEACH HOTEL and that it's in high use/demand, the about of wear and tear was not unexpected or unwarranted.
Nearby activities: Close to horseback riding, go karts, and mini-golf right down the street... a 10-15 minute walk to the "main drag" area of town... and about a 30 second walk to the beach.
Walkability: Easy to walk into town, even easier to walk to the beach. Also, the Discovery Trail (paved for biking/running/walking) is right next to the hotel.

I had booked a stay at Adrift Hotel, attracted by its unique location and reputation for offering a relaxing, beachfront experience. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected health issue (a positive COVID-19 test), my partner and I had to cancel our reservation on the morning of our planned stay to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
While I understand that my booking was made through a third-party site, I was disappointed to learn that my request for a credit or goodwill gesture toward a future stay was denied. Despite reaching out to both the booking platform and the hotel directly, I found that there was no flexibility offered, even considering the extraordinary circumstances.
The staff I communicated with were courteous, but the lack of accommodation during such a challenging time has impacted my overall impression of Adrift Hotel. I had high hopes for this stay, and it's unfortunate that the situation couldn't be resolved more favorably.
That said, I appreciate the prompt and polite communication I received, and I remain hopeful that the hotel might reconsider its stance. Should this happen, I would be more than willing to revise my review to reflect a more positive experience.

Absolutely horrible. There is something to be said when we had 8 pairs of foam ear plugs in our room. So noisy from above, below, hallway and outside. We complained at 10:30 pm, the noise did not stop. Also the room was hot, no breeze in the evening and had to ask for a fan since no air conditioning. The room was not nice, pretty beat up. Will never ever go back.

We had high hopes, the room was clean and cute, and the hotel overall looks really nice. The staff are super sweet and all would have been great, but the thin walls and gap around the door gave us no sound barrier from the guests in the hallway nor adjacent rooms. We could hear everyone in the hall as if they were in our room with us, it almost seemed amplified and you could hear every word they said. The glow of light shining through the door gap was like a nightlight so it was helpful for a middle of the night bathroom break. The talking in adjacent rooms wasn't clear, but you could hear the constant mumble from a casual conversation. I was immediately suspicious when I noticed ear plugs next to each side of the bed when we first entered the room. Yeah, that's not a solution to the issue... they're not comfortable to wear and they don't fit everyone's ears. Sadly, we allowed ourselves to be up sold on the room for a view that turned out to be foggy. At least the king bed was comfy and clean. It should have been discounted for all the noise we dealt with.
They also have the distasteful practice of charging for incidentals beforehand, then reimburse if not used. Absolutely dislike that practice, shouldn't even be legal in my opinion.
And my last complaint was the lack of hot water for a morning shower. There was hot water at the sink but no hot water for the shower. Thankfully I took my shower in the evening when there was still hot shower water, but my wife was left out in the cold. The room wasn't cheap

Reading some of the other reviews here, I'm not sure if we got lucky or just had different expectations. The room was clean, the hotel was industrial beach themed, the staff were nice, there was food and drinks in the lobby and a restaurant available, there was a heated pool with some saunas, and it's a two minute walk from the beach and ocean.
Nearby activities: Beach, boardwalk, El Compadre's

I did not realize until we arrived what a WOKE hotel this is. Rainbow flags and LGBT… items everywhere. Good thing there was a poster in the lobby that was a guide to what rainbow flag means what. The password for the wifi is “freedomtobe.”
There is talk of freedom but not one American Flag representing the freedom we have because of our soldiers whose blood was sacrificed. Putting a rainbow flag in the window does not give us freedom, fighting along side the American flag does. We will not stay again.

I just want to say Hannah was extremely helpful when we had trouble with our booking. She told us how to handle everything, was responsive, and was instrumental in our weekend being saved. Thanks Hannah!
Noteworthy details: Manager Hannah is extremely helpful!

Oof. This hotel has a great location but the buck stops there. The rooms are extremely noisy. you can hear very footstep in the rooms above and beside you. Every conversation. At 4am there were children screaming through the ceiling "what is your name! Why are you not talking to me!" We got zero sleep during our two night stay and we were not alone. Ran into another family in the lobby and they were complaining about the same thing. I realize the hotel provides ear plugs beside your bed. Take that as your warning. Even then it's impossible to drown out the noise from other rooms. So if you are searching for a romantic getaway go elsewhere. This is a family hotel. So many unruly kids at the pool area. (we also had our children with us). Kids throwing wood blocks at the gates at each other. The first morning we went to grab coffee and breakfast and it was closed due to staffing issues. Truly disappointing that there were no back up staff to come in that day. People have mentioned the air conditioning and it's true. Keeping windows open and placing your box fan in the widow is a mush during those rare summer warm spells. Overall for all the added fees and pricing it wasn't worth it. We will not stay again.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. When we arrived, the room was 75 degrees. It was in the mid 60s outside, humid and the room temp was uncomfortable. There is no air conditioning in these units and baseboard only heating. It took keeping our windows open the entire stay to get the room to a semi-comfortable temperature. We were on the 3rd floor so felt relatively safe to leave our window open, but there are no in-room security safes! I called the front desk and there isn't even an option to have a safe delivered to the room. We opted not to have housekeeping as there was no way to secure valuables which made me uncomfortable. The shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles are re-used and refilled which is gross. I don't know what other guests do with those bottles or if they are emptied after each visit. The blanket on the bed had a stain on it. They provide earplugs for the stay as the cars in the parking lot and surrounding rooms are noisy with thin walls. The room cleanliness was moderate but there were definitely areas that were not cleaned well. The refrigerator door had crusty crumbs and food on the handle. The table that was along the wall had a sticky spot that I had to wipe down before setting anything on it. I'd give cleanliness a 3/5 rating.
A few positives:
-Their on-site restaurant is delicious.
-The staff were friendly.
-They offer in room dining from the restaurant with great food, drinks and prompt delivery.
-The beach is a very close walk. We could see the beach from our room window.
Overall, we will not be staying here again. It feels more like a motel with a few hotel-esque amenities like the restaurant, distillery and room service. They need to make upgrades if they want to improve their room and stay experience.
