I really wanted the experience to work out here at Eastside. :(
I am the proud owner of new kittens. They deserve the best doctors! :D I did my research online, looked through reviews, received a personal referral to Eastside. When scheduling & arriving for the first appointment in-person, such friendly, kind, and responsive staff.
The staff were so sweet & excited, I thought how wonderful this vet must be! After their first deworming, I noticed some fecal complications with one of my kittens.
Calling in, the staff member was there late & so helpful. They said it could be because of the change in food.
But as it got worse, doing my research, stress & food change doesn't result in such complications. My concern was that it could be a parasite. I immediately brought them in a fecal sample & scheduled for another appointment.
It was with a different vet, who seemed to attentively listen to my concerns at the beginning. They blew off the parasite concerns & claimed again it was stress or food. As it progressed, the information was all over the place. The lab was delayed with the sample, they didn't run the sample, they didn't know there was a sample, they would ask about the sample, etc. It was a wild adventure in the one hour. They prescribed medication, ran out of medication, asked permission to exchange medication, and said it would be the exact same but different brand.
They seemed more focused on prescribing more items to sell such as probiotics, special mousse, etc. When I told them both kittens eat together, it's difficult to isolate a single kitten on a diet. After that, they were very much like I don't know (¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) Super quiet on the matter with no advice to offer.
When I came home, it was a completely different medication application. When I called back, they were incredibly passive aggressive how medicine can't be returned, how it was a special exception for my mistake, etc. When I asked for vet records of the last few visits & lab results, they attached only one document. When I politely asked for the remainder, no rush, they sent a very passive aggressive email in return explaining how kind they were to assist despite how busy the office was.
I was shocked. I work in an office as well with many residents who expect you to drop all tasks right away to assist them. I was more than happy to wait. No matter how stressed I was, professionalism dictates to always be kind & efficient.
While these staff members weren't the same kind ones to assist in my first visit, how each member of the team represents the entire team as a whole.
Vet care isn't cheap to shop around with every & every clinic charging new client fees, physical exams, etc. I'm not rich nor knowledgeable about medical care, I pay what the vets tell me whether or not it's overpriced because I love & want to take care of my kittens. I wish they treated me with more kindness & heard my concerns. At the end of the day, my kitties aren't worth passive-aggressive, non-committal, potentially negligent care.
P.S. Kittens still sick, problem not resolved two weeks later.
Newest Update: I needed to reorder the probiotics and took a closer look at the box. They had written a few notes in sharpie which I initially dismissed as internal notes. One of the notes was crossing off the manufacturer’s 2025 expiration date and manually changing it to 2026. Another surprise…

What a great clinic! The homey house street side curb appeal-It's our new dog's family doctor! Dr. Judy Hung is so patient, kind and thorough. She called with lab results and discussed everything with us. Trust your pet with veterinarians that really care!

I would not recommend Dr. Chen. She misdiagnosed my cat with asthma, while he didn’t have any classic symptoms. I am only a registered nurse and I knew it’s not asthma, but upper respiratory issue. Spent $1000 in clinic and another $200 for asthma meds, which didn’t do any difference. But she insisted it’s 100% asthma. Also said my cat has dental/gum disease and suggested $2000 teeth cleaning. I bought $20 plaque remover tool and cleaned a few spots myself, the next Dr. said his teeth are fine. I had to get a second opinion and resolved all the problems in another hospital.
The staff was very nice. Two stars for that.

I have been bringing my older cat here for years and last year added another cat to my little family who has been seen here as well.
I'm an exotics/ER LVT for 10 years myself but I don't want to be the tech for my own cats. I get too anxious. The whole team here takes such good care of my cats and are so knowledgeable. It puts my mind at ease and helps with my own anxiety to know they are in good, knowledgeable and experienced hands.
Dr Allodi and the whole team are so wonderful taking care of my older cat Jet who has dental issues. My younger cat Puffin came to me as a stray with a few issues and needed a surgery on a broken leg when I got her. Dr Allodi gave me some really good exercises to help strengthen her leg after her surgery.
My girls will continue to be seen here as long as they are open. Thank you everyone at Eastside Vet Associates for all of your wonderful care and compassion ???

Beware of this unethical clinic
Like many other reviewers, I took my pet to this clinic for several years but recently left because of their greedy, unethical and vindictive behavior. Although this story is involved, I urge you to read it before you make the mistake of trusting this practice.
My dog was due for bloodwork and we had a family vacation to Canada coming up in two weeks when I learned of new CDC rules requiring me to get a special rabies certificate. I called Eastside Vet and inquired if I could get the certificate when I brought him in for his labs. I was told yes, but it would cost $222. After some back and forth in which I couldn't get straight answers, I decided to proceed as getting the certificate from another vet would be difficult and I was short on time (FYI that the CDC rule was just revoked due to international pushback).
When I arrived, I learned they planned to perform an exam in conjunction with issuing the certificate even though my dog had been in for his annual check-up a few months earlier. I thought this was the basis of the $222, so discussed that cost again with the vet and tech, but ultimately agreed to the exam and to pay that amount. Please note that at no time on the phone or during that discussion were any other charges mentioned.
After they did a standard exam, they brought me an "estimate" of $444 that included $110 for an "international travel exam," $110 for some sort of "travel consultation" plus $222 for the certificate! When I objected that I was quoted $222, they said that was only for the certificate and that the exam and consultation were separate and required. The tech then told me twice that if it was "too much" that I didn't have to proceed. I told them it was unethical for them to misrepresent the cost and only show an estimate after the fact, and I left.
Here is what happened next:
1. I called two other highly-rated local vets and learned they were each charging $60-70 for the certificate (which costs them $38 to file). They only required an exam if the dog was new to their practice and each charged less than $100 for the exam.
2. I booked an appointment with one of those vets. The next morning, they called Eastside Vet to request my dog's records.
3. Eastside immediately did two things: First, they sent the records with their clinic name replaced by the words "Bad Debt/Write Off" on every single page. Then, they sent me a letter saying they would no longer treat my dog and an invoice for $110 for an "international travel exam."
4. I wrote them back asking them to resend the records with what I thought was a clerical error corrected (i.e. show the clinic name, not "Bad Debt"). I also wrote explaining my view of what had happened and offered to resolve the matter if they would honor the original quote of $222.
Eastside never responded so I called and learned that they had deliberately placed the words "Bad Debt/Write Off" on the records before even clarifying they expected payment for the exam and would not remove them unless I paid them $110. Given my seven years with this practice and perfect payment history, I was truly stunned by this vindictive attempt to interfere with me finding my dog a new vet by making it look like I didn't pay my vet bills!
Looking back, there were red flags that other reviewers have also encountered (e.g., Eastside's poor response to a medication reaction requiring a trip to ER, being coerced to buy medication and food, a botched biopsy), but I did not realize the greed and nastiness they were capable of until this incident. There are many excellent vets. Please take your beloved pet elsewhere.

I cannot speak highly enough of this veterinary clinic and the care that my pets and I have received from Dr. Allodi.
During the height of the pandemic, Dr. Allodi took us through full end-of-life care with our previous senior cat with Stage 4 chronic kidney disease. Dr. Allodi taught us how to administer subcutaneous fluids at home through a window, answered endless questions via phone and email providing reading and resources, and fit our cat into her schedule between appointments same day when her clinic schedule was already fully booked. To say that she went above and beyond is an understatement. I can confidently say that even with the disease, we were able to find the perfect combo of meds and our cat had the best and happiest final year of her life.
When we adopted our two kittens last year, we didn't hesitate to go back to Dr. Allodi and the staff here and EVA Kirland. Even though it had been two years we were welcomed back like old friends. The front desk staff and vet techs are extremely knowledgeable; triaging basic issues over the phone and asking great clarifying questions to save everyone time and pass along the correct information to your vet.

I recently took my dog to this location for his annual wellness exam and vaccinations. Less than an hour after the visit, my dog began having diarrhea, and his condition worsened overnight. He had diarrhea more than six times the next morning. We initially suspected a worm infection, so we took him back to the vet for a fecal test, which came back negative. The doctor mentioned it might be due to the vaccinations but did not provide a clear diagnosis. Our dog has received the same vaccinations in previous years without any side effects, and statistics show that diarrhea as a side effect is very rare. I highly suspect that my dog was given the wrong dosage. They refused to cover the treatment even though they acknowledged it was due to the vaccinations. I suggest that pet owners consider other options before choosing this vet.

I could not able to book an vaccination appointment because I did not want an annual exam mandated to me; what a bad customer focus and experience. This was our dog’s vet for 3 years, but not any more.

We've taken our pets to Eastside Vet for six years. Our dogs were both elderly, unfortunately making us frequent fliers. Eastside vet always provided great care, would answer all of our questions, and discuss treatment options including with end of life care. They also identified a life threatening chronic condition during a normal check up when our cat was about five years old. They've helped us keep it under control successfully such that it no longer a serious concern. When bringing pets for appointments, they have always been prompt. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes. We've used both the Kirkland and Newcastle locations depending on availability and have had great experiences at both. All the staff is kind and caring toward our pets. We also boarded our dogs at the Newcastle facility. They were well cared for and Eastside Vet contacted us promptly the few times there were any irregularities. They are very popular, so sometimes it has been a challenge to schedule an appointment. And, there have been times that their price for a procedure is higher than I expect. However, they always discuss the cost of the treatment options up front and the quality of their care has made it worthwhile.

We bring our dog Ozzy in for his visits. He's in to Eastside Veterinary Associates once a month for an allergy shot and we've been able to work with a good cross reference of the front office, techs and vets in our visits. I've love to mention them all by name for the extraordinary service we have but I fear it would be a list of every person we’ve worked with.
Scheduling an appointment is fast, smooth and easy when we call, and when we arrive our appointments happen on time. During the visit, we have the full attention of our vet and vet tech when we’re meeting with them. The care and attention Ozzy gets really is great and he’s healthy for it. This may read like a pretty basic thing, but it does stand out from some of places we’ve used in the past.
In the cases where Ozzy has needed the attention of a specialist for something we have been given great referrals and the specialist vets we go have spoken highly of Eastside’s team.

I've had cats my entire life, and I also volunteer with animals--believe me when I say that good care for my pets is profoundly important to me. Kirkland Eastside Vet gets five stars from me, only because I can't give them more. They are knowledgeable, kind, caring, compassionate, and always make time for any and all questions and concerns. I can truthfully say that they treat my beloved pets with as much love and care as I would. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and Dr. Hung as nothing short of amazing. As busy as I know she is, she always makes me feel like she has nothing more important to do than answer my questions. For those commenters who feel they were charged for too many things--every time I go in, the itemized bill is brought to me while the vet is still in the room with me, and she goes over it step by step so I know exactly what I'm paying for and why it's important. She has never made me feel foolish for asking, or pressured to do anything. Dr. Hung is a great doctor and, just as important in my book, an amazing person I feel lucky to have met. I will bring my cats to her as long as she is in practice and willing to see them.
