The owners say they close at 11pm. The employees will say “like 10-1030pm” when you call. You would think a chevron gas station would have consistent operating hours. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

I try to time my gas station runs with my trips to Kitsap county. If I work things right, I can fill up for much less than I pay near home. I have a couple of reasons to go to Kitsap these days - I have a boat in Brownsville that needs regular maintenance (Anyone want to buy a project boat? I can make you a great deal) and I am dating a woman who lives on Bainbridge Island. Last weekend I was excited to be headed over for a great date. To top things off, I noticed that my gas gauge was very low. Sweet! I was going to have fun with my date and save money!
The trip computer in my car said I had less than 50 miles to go. The gauge is very squirrelly at this level, so I decided that I should fill up at the first place I found. That led me to this Chevron on 104. The sign said that the price was $.50 less than at home, not great but pretty good. I pulled in and lined up with a pump in the back. When I put my debit card in, the price went up $.10. Dang! I hate that gas stations do that to you. I hardly ever carry cash these days and I don’t like that there is a penalty for going cashless. I looked up the typical gas station margin and Google says it is around 10%. A lot of businesses would be happy to accept debit card fees to get that kind of margin.
I wanted to get to the delights of Bainbridge, so I accepted the price and filled up. Getting back on 104 was a bit scary since there was a curve hiding the oncoming traffic on the busy road. I waited for as good an opening as I could get and accelerated onto the road. On the way, I saw several other gas stations with better prices. I especially kicked myself when I passed the Safeway where the price was substantially better, especially when you factor in that there was a well used Safeway card in my wallet. Next time, I’ll pass the Chevron by.

The staff go above and beyond. Space case that I am forgot my water on the counter. Hoped in my truck and right as I was about to pull out the clerk came running out with it. Thank you for having such a wonderful staff!

Great service, convenient location, and lots of extra conveniences. This is now our go to stop once we get off the Edmonds-Kingston ferry.
