Never had a good customer service experience here. Yesterday, I bought a bookshelf for my husband’s birthday and had to wait for today to pick it up since he has the SUV. When I went to pick it up it was gone! I told the sales associate and she said “that’s why we don’t like to hold things” ??? Excuse me? No one told me you don’t like to hold things. She wasn’t even a tiny bit apologetic when she gave me my refund as if I should expect that things I buy will be stolen by someone else if I don’t have the luxury of hauling it home that very second? Clearly their Furniture sales system is not good. I don’t understand why they make a big show of writing up a sales ticket and making you return with a receipt if they don’t actually keep track that something is sold!!!!!! How does the item number not come up as sold? What inventory tracking is that?
Before that, I bought a $7 trinket dish and when I got it home I realized it was broken, glued back together and the price tag was covering the damage so I tried to return it and they basically told me “too bad. It happens”
This was with different associates too ?

I WILL NOT DONATE OR EVEN BUY ANYTHING THERE EVEN AGAIN!
I’ve been always donating staff there & a lot more lately since I’ve been decluttering my home but…I got a pair of jeans for my daughter & since they don’t have fitting rooms I got home, she tried them on, accidentally removed the price tag, only 2 days later I went back to the store with the receipt & the price tag that they could easily put it back in, but no, THEY JUST DIDN’T WANT TO. Despite of the lack of fitting rooms they don’t do returns only exchanges, but since the price tag was not attached to the jeans they didn’t even want to exchange that for me. But you know what they actuality wanted??? THEY WANTED ME TO DONATE THAT PAIR OF JEANS BACK AND GET 20% DISCOUNT TO BUY SOMETHING ELSE FROM THERE! 20% is nothing & I paid $13 for those jeans. So ridiculous, so unfair, so ungrateful & stupid store policies/rules they have! TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMERS THAT’S WHAT THEY DO BEST. Good by value village.

I absolutely love coming here but, today I went in with my little one 10/13/24 and he says mommy I have to pee, go around to look for someone at the front and they inform me the rules have changed and they can’t let my child go potty. This is ridiculous, I can understand not letting people that are literally just walking in to use the bathroom but someone with a small child who’s spending quite a bit of money at your store is just not okay. She offered to watch my cart so I could pack my child back into the car to go find a potty elsewhere and then return to continue shopping. I kindly declined and just checked out what I had.

This is a fine enough Value Village. They do have decent furniture come through if you're looking for that kind of thing.
The reason for two stars is due to the staff. I try to be understanding, I probably wouldn't feel like I was thriving working here, it's a location that needs it's own security guard. I get it. But I've had some negative experiences. My latest encounter was when I was wanting taking a look at some electronics behind he jewelry cabinet. I looked around for an attendant. I saw two employees manning the self checkout and tried to get their attention, but wasn't seen. One of them then drops something made of glass, it breaks. They take their time cleaning it up, I stand there patiently. They finish, and I try again to get their attention. One starts frolicking around and dancing, and neither look my way. A third employee walks up, no luck. Then after another minute or two, someone who I think might be the supervisor says from behind me "the jewelry area closes at 6:30". At first I say "oh ok sorry" but then I look at my phone, and it's 6:30 on the nose. I had been standing there for a while, so I said "I've been trying to get assistance since before it closed, I can't look at one thing?" but got snubbed.
I get it, it was technically closed but there were four employees up front at that point, and no one had a second to give me the courtesy or time of day. I left feeling very annoyed, especially watching one blue haired employee dance around the checkout area without a care in the world. She wasn't even minding the task she seemed to be assigned to do which was watch the self-checkout. Get it together.

Ridiculous pricing. All thrift stores have gotten more expensive since Covid/inflation happened, but the Kent location is unbelievable. Hardback novels for $14.99 and $12.99, while other locations (Tukwila, River Road) generally have them for $5.99, or $7.99 if they’re thicker. Kent seems to price them willy-nilly. Kids picture books at $5.99 and $7.99?! The audacity. AE jeans with worn-out crotches for $17.99. A Target-brand small desk lamp for $13.99, while that same lamp is still at Target for $12. There needs to be better training on how to price similarly, as a matching trio set of paintings were tagged at $4.99, $11.99, and $12.99. The three paintings all go together and should be priced similarly, right?! I don’t know if it’s corporate greed, a lack of training of the pricing team, or both, but I can’t fathom returning to this location to find low priced, quality items when the items seems to be neither low priced nor quality. Save your money and pick literally any other thrift store in the area.

I had a coupon for $10 off of $25. My total before tax was $25.24. I scanned the coupon and it wouldn't come off. Attendant said I had to spend $26.00 for it to work. Why would the coupon say $25 if I have to spend $26? I just spent time shopping around carefully for items for a family member in a care facility. Carfefully picking out items that would work. Only to get to the check out and they won't honor a coupon. This is second hand clothing and you won't even honor a coupon!? Ridiculous!!!

If you’re looking for a good thrifting spot: the goodwill in federal way has the cheapest prices; the goodwill in Tukwila has some of the best finds, and the value village in Tukwila is still decent.
I was treated like a criminal at the value village in Kent on two occasions now for paying with cash instead of card.
I don’t know if it’s the self pay system that they use, but on the first occasion, I stopped in to pick up a couple of bob’s burgers pint glasses that I placed on hold after a long day. I picked up my dry cleaning prior (which I carried in because I do not drive). I was surrounded by employees who emptied my dry cleaning bags as if I was stealing. Luckily I had all of my tags and receipts present, or they may have tried taking them from me. It was pouring down rain, and I wanted to complete my errands before going home because their items are only on hold until closing. After being corralled and searched by the employees, I was finally allowed to make my purchase. I was compliant and allowed them to look through all of my bags while standing accused, which was entirely unprofessional.
On my next visit, an employee informed me of who they thought was stealing which was none of my business and entirely unprofessional. I don’t care. I wanted to pay for my goods and leave. In the process another employee approached me and tapped menacingly on the payment screen of how much I owed (as if I don’t understand values and the basics of currency). Again, in this instance I felt like I was being accused of non payment due to the fact that I was paying with cash.
I would not recommend to any of my friends and family to donate to this location for the rudeness of the staff. I was polite, compliant, and cordial throughout the experience. This effort was entirely not mutual.
Stay away from this place if your value your peace. Do not donate at this location if you can avoid it. I don’t know what their employee protocol is, yet the blatant profiling is unhinged. It’s unprofessional, and they will accost anyone trying to rightfully pay for the items that they overprice and subsequently profit from thereof. What the actual fluff?
I went in looking for the thrill of the hunt and a deal. I was instead accused of things that I have no interest in entertaining.
AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs whether it be DONATING or PURCHASING. This behavior is unacceptable on multiple fronts. It is a shame that they are tarnishing the value village company name like this. This is unacceptable.

They didn't let me in because I had a backpack. It's a small backpack. Don't come here if you have a backpack. They will suggest letting it in the entrance. I didn't feel good leaving my things at the entrance so I left

The other day when I was checking out in the self- checkout, one of the employees came up really close to me, said "That fabric is really cute, let me see", and yanked on the garment I was holding/about to scan. It happened so quickly I didn't understand what was happening, so I gripped onto it. She then yanked it as hard as she possibly could from my hands, took it from me, inspected it, and said "Oh okay. I thought you were trying to scan one item but had two in your hands" then threw the garment back on the counter and quickly walked away. No apology, nothing. I was mortified. I gotta say, getting in my personal space, pretending to compliment my purchase, putting your hands on me without consent, then making an accusation without proof is just.... a wild move. A few weeks ago, I was first in line to check out. Another cashier was manning the line, telling people when to go next. She walked right past me (looked over my head & didn't see me), so when it was my turn to go, she accosted me for "cutting in line", as if I was a child in elementary school. If you want to be yelled at, humiliated, and basically assaulted unprovoked, definitely shop here!

Very “RACIST AND RUDE” manager and worker at Value Village in Kent Wa.I had my dog with me and was told he was not allowed in the store, very RUDE to me in front of many customers. I told them that he is my emotional support. He uses his own blanket and behaves very well. They kicked me out of the store!!!!I've seen dogs inside the store before, but obviously the owners of those dogs is the same race as the manager and the worker. ZERO, ZERO ZERO STARS..I went to Tj Maxx and felt very welcome shopping with my dog. It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE atValue village.
