“Yes, there's liquor and beer, but they also make really good sandwiches and subs. There's a cute little sitting area and another table to play chess that's ready to go. Very cute.”
“Stopped in while renting a house nearby for our fall vacation. Man behind the counter was super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They offer a nice variety of food, beverages, snack, etc. The parking area is small, but not too bad for a quick stop. They also offer gas 24 hours a day, which can come in handy. Prices are pretty standard for a small market. I'm sure we'll be back during our week stay.”
“(Call it 3.5 stars, rounded up because it's a small, local business.)
Cute little mom-and-pop type of liquor store, the selection varies from the cheap stuff to the expensive stuff, and they've got a ton of those little tiny shooter bottles too.
Don't be too shocked by the price tags, they include the WA taxes in the price, and as we all know, liquor taxes here are gut-wrenching.
That said, even if you DO factor in the state tax, prices here are noticeably higher than in, say, the big-box stores like Total Wine or BevCo or whatever, which I suppose makes sense since the little guys never get the discounts the big dogs do. Just something to be aware of. (Still makes my bargain-hunting heart hurt though.) Good to support your local businesses in tough times, regardless.
The staff here seem nice too, and didn't seem to mind that I just kinda loitered around a bit while checking the prices and selection. I eventually chickened out on getting anything since I did an hour ride to Purdy on a bicycle and I didn't want to risk damaging anything on the ride back. I'll probably get something the next time I'm in the area in a car.
All in all, I'd probably say it's a great place to go if you're local, if you want to support a small business, or if you don't want to go driving off to some fancier place further away and burn off your savings putting more miles into your car.”
“I love my GH Safeway! I love all the food selections and for the most part prices are good too. The store's staff are ALL great! Always sincerely cheerful, asking how they can help you, then physically helping you with getting full grocery carts to your car, etc. The friendly guys at the meat & seafod counters go out of their way to help you-same for lady in the bakery. Most staff walk you to the right place when you're looking for an item. Customer Service & mgrs. are top notch & if can't solve your issue directly try to make up for it with a little gift card. The store is clean and well organized. My only suggestions/constructive criticism: I do miss having Quest labs there! One blond lady in Pharamcy seems to always be "unhappy & impatient"? Safeway bakery breads are not as good as they used to be, i.e. sourdough not much flavor (did they change recipes?) & at times store is missing items or has empty shelves but I undertstand the supply chain issues, etc. going on right now for many. FYI I have tried the new Met Market across the street & it may be "pretty" but I'll stick with my Safeway for selections, helpful staff and prices! Thank you.”
“A great new wine cafe. Chris, one of the partners, is well versed re: wine. The partners stock wines they've tried & enjoy sharing them. Check the hours. It is a wine room so there is no food. With comfy small sofa, chairs & side tables this is a perfect place to gather. Catch up w quiet music & a glass or two of wine.”
