This is the "Safeway" of the island. All your basics except no deli counter, although they do stock some premade sammies and salads near the produce section. They do offer some local goods as well! Great selection of beer and wine, many Washington based. All three San Juan Island based breweries represented (especially important to this beer lover) here as well.

I just love all the different foods they have, stuff u can't find at the states I've lived. I do have to say it is higher pay but there if u look will fine something. Also the people as in workers they make me feel like either they don't like there job our don't care for new people coming around, that's to bad cause it shows.

One word... Spicy chicken sandwich. Ok three words. All of the sandwiches are fresh and tasty.Don't forget to walk through the imported goods while you're there. The secret candy tip of the day.. pickup a couple of the black licorice caramels in the big jar on the counter.

Nice big grocery store. Not fancy like the King's market down the street, no deli, but big and great for staples

Marketplace does a great job at bringing in groceries that serve the community needs. They are open to suggestions and have an organic selection (fresh and packaged) as well as options for GF and vegan. Check the freezer for GF bread. Friendly.and helpful staff.

I find it sad that this marketplace does not have the infrastructure in place to support customers bringing their own jars or containers to use in the bulk section. I feel like the whole point of the bulk section is to reduce plastic waste, and that bringing my own container should be natural... this is a commonly accepted practice at many other stores, even encouraged and celebrated! But when I went to the marketplace today to do this, the first cashier did not know how to tare my jar. I went to another cashier and she told me the jar was .55 pounds. When I went to the bulk section to fill my jar, a staff member was working there and she said, "Can I ask why you are using a jar?" I said, "Because I don't want to use plastic." She said, "You'll have to pay for the jar too." I said, "No, I already figured out the weight of it." "They won't accept that up there," she said, indicating the cashiers. "A cashier already got me the tare weight," I told her. The woman then basically rolled her eyes and said, "Good luck." I felt like I was doing something wrong. Gratefully, the second cashier who got me the tare weight of the jar was able to help me check out, but she had to use her phone as a calculator to figure it all out! I'm very grateful she helped me do this, but I feel like this should be so much easier, and it seems clear to me that this company does not care much about reducing waste or encouraging this kind of practice in their store. I would love to be proved wrong, but until then I'll be buying my bulk stuff at the co-op in the future (where they already have jars waiting for you with the tare weight written on top). I would give this experience one star, but I'm adding a second because of the wonderful woman who used her own resources to help me make this purchase. Thank you!

Friday Harbor is a fun place to walk around and visit. I will caution you though that during the middle of the week it is quite a sleepy little town. We found most things were closed by 5:00 p.m. or never opened at all. This included restaurants. We did find lots of great little shops to just peruse and some great coffee. The atmosphere itself is just scenic and unbelievable with all of the beauty that surrounds.

Smaller grocery store in the area, but is pricy. Relatively decent selection of items (signature, Tillamook, Lucerne, fruits, veggies, snacks, and more.)
