“I should have written this years ago but now that I've moved, I'd be remiss if I did not write how this gym is the absolute best gym in the Pierce County area. It has everything you'd want. CrossFit? check. Weightlifting? check. Open gym? check. Yoga? check. BJJ space? check. 24/7 access? check. In addition to the expectations from a gym, the athlete community alone is worth the membership. Everyone is aware we're all on our own fitness journey, and they cheer you on to succeed in it. No stress, no intimidation just pure motivation to achieve your goal. The staff are also low key cool and knowledgeable wanting you to do your best but also willing to listen to suggestions or concerns you may have about your workout. Go check it out for a day and I'll guarantee you'll love it. I'll give you your money back on that first visit if you don't (Its free.)”

“I cannot express enough how welcoming Town Athletics has been! I came to the gym during a Friends and Family week, where members could invite others to see what Town was all about. I had never done CrossFit before and frankly, I was a bit intimidated. This apprehension disappeared on day one! The coaches are the best of the best, and the programming is thoughtful and unique. As a beginner, they make sure I understand the lifts and workouts (scaled to my level while also being challenging). The atmosphere is so supportive, and members are very friendly and inspiring. Because I jumped right in to regular workouts (usually there is an onboarding process), I have also taken a few private sessions with Coach Cole…he is amazing, so knowledgeable, patient, and a great instructor. He has a very good way of coaching that I have responded well to. If you have ever wanted to join a CrossFit gym that is challenging, supportive, and fun, Town Athletics is it!”

“My first CrossFit gym ever and it is wonderful place to begin my journey!!! The staff and members are so welcoming. The coaches, Allie and Amanda, always calm my newbie nerves by taking the time to explain each exercise and give encouragement/feedback throughout the workout. The gym is very clean and the equipment is everything you need for a great workout. Definitely would recommend to others, even if you have never done CrossFit in the past!!!”

“Not too crowded and well organized. Bathrooms are in various places throughout the gym. Singles. They even have a handicap shower in one of them. Soap provided in the shower and there is a hair dryer. I love the container of hair ties. Thanks”

I train with both Seth and Vanessa, and have done nutrition coaching with Seth as well.When I first started, I had some metabolic improvements to make based upon lab work I had done. As of today, my lab work is pristine - All thanks to Seth and his guidance. “If you are looking to learn some new skills or just working on fitness, if you are looking for a family friendly gym LOOK NO FURTHER! THIS IS IT LOL!!! I am sooo happy I found this place. It started off as I just wanted to do it for fitness. Then my 17yr old and my 8yr old joined. Now we are here almost everyday! Just learning everything we can. Both of my sons are training in boxing and jiu jitsu. Drew and Brandon as well as EVERYONE there are sooo welcoming and friendly. I am grateful! Not to mention a FAMILY FRIENDLY environment. I get to workout and also my sons get their practice in. I do boxing with my 17yr old. You really can't beat that!”

“I have been going to Taiso for almost four years now, and I cannot say enough positive things about this gym. Butch and Jennifer are encouraging and enthusiastic about the work they do--they're also both just really phenomenal people all around. It is a safe environment where you can come as you are, and you will quickly feel like you are a part of a big family. Many of the folks there have become my lifelong friends. Plus, the classes are amazing--you will definitely be challenged if you put the effort in, and it honestly feels like grown-up gym class (without the awkwardness). Cannot recommend Taiso enough.”

“This place is 5*. Great coaches and people. I go for the "crossfit" style HIIT workouts they have during the day. What I like about Tacoma Strength is they focus more on Olympic lifting with less of the weird "hand stand pushup" type crossfit exercises in their HIIT classes. The saturday class is the best.”

“Incredibly thankful for a space that embraces you wherever you are in life. I've been to a couple of gyms, typically CrossFit, in my life. I am now a mother of 2 and previously had a career as a first responder. Life has clearly changed, a lot, and if I'm being completely honest I've been chronically stressed. So, having found a space to move my body and clear my mind in a gentle way has been a breath of fresh air and something I've never experienced before within a gym setting. I appreciate that warm up/cool downs are programmed into the gym time so that I'm not having to show up earlier/stay late to complete them and it makes a world of a difference to start each class with a fun way to get to know others in the gym via their Question Of The Day. I've been a member with Ascent for a couple of months now and the workouts meet me where I'm at while also being a challenge without an ounce of pressure to push myself to injury. My former gym experiences have typically looked like loud music, a lot of competition, mirrors & scales, everyone "looks the same", rigid workouts, larger class sizes and lacking in accessibility. The coaches and staff at Ascent have been nothing but kind and educated. I've been really impressed and thankful to see offerings like "Low Impact Small Group" which is great for those seeking a slower pace/limited mobility/pre or post giving birth IE, or Sound Bath Meditation. Ascent Fitness has proved themselves to be genuinely caring about ones mental health, being community focused + driven, and supportive of ones journey through life..
