Disrespecting Your Time, Lies and Bad Attitude from Owner to staff
I like to share my honest opinion so everyone is aware before you excitedly book an appointment with Castaway Salon. Be careful of false display of smiles from Joy Sendegala.
I had been made to wait for over 25 minutes on many occations by Joy Sendegala who is novice, beginner in hair. First time, I showed up on time for my appointment she was still half way working on another clients hair ...making me wait 25 min in my car.. I gave her a chance and waited.
Second time, I showed up on time, Joy disrespected me making me wait 25 minutes again, before she atrended to me, a paying client!. Other times she would text me (I have plenty proof the way) saying she is going to be late ... always 15 mins late with traffic. I still gave her a chance and waited patiently.
The last appontment July 18, 2024 was for 3 pm. I showed up 3.05 min first time, due to an emergency at home, given she has always made me wait for over 20 minutes...but on this Sunday July 18th, she slipped into the back room for a fake meeting and did not greet me until 3.35 pm for hair color. I am no longer tolerating this bad service. I respect myself and value my time. I am no longer giving her a chance. She has to change her behavior to grow.
This constant lack of respect reflects this salon. I had been very tolerant and kind but only to be taken advantage of and disrespected. Joy shows no gratitude towards a paying client. I am never going back only moving forward with better respecting hair salons out there who value you as a person. By the way she did not cover my grays well, she burnt my hair and scalp .... but they can keep my money. They need it more than I do.
Hopefully, Castaway Salon will realize a client pays for service, and a clients time must be respected. Kindess is free.
This review shows what you might experience ... I do not recommend booking here. Don't regret.

I have been going to Castaway Salon since it opened. Susan has done my hair for years and I always love her work, but her schedule can be hard to get into. So awhile back I decided to see Joy. It can be nerve racking seeing a new stylist for the first time, but Joy was amazing all the way around! She is professional, and easy to talk to and listened to what I wanted. I love the way my hair turned out she did a fabulous color and cut!
Joy is great with kids too! I have taken my five year old daughter in to see Joy as well. The first time my daughter saw Joy was actually my daughter’s first time at the shampoo bowl. I never thought anything of it because she was always fine with a haircut before, no issues. Well, my five year old started freaking out when the water began spraying her head. She was hysterical with a wet head and just kept telling us she didn’t like the way it felt. I was sitting there thinking… it’s not too hot or too cold so it’s just going to feel the way it feels, but Joy was so calm and talked to her with so much patience and kindness. Joy quickly realized it was the pressure and turned it down to a trickle and after that everything was great! I alway love my experience at Castaway Salon and I highly recommend Joy!

Worst service I've ever had. I came out looking worse than when I went out. I still had roots when I left and she cut my daughters and my hair so choppy. Do not recommend.

This salon is SOOO cute and asthetic, and all the hair stylists are very nice and know what they are doing. I go to Kaitlyn and she perfects my hair every time as well as give me advice on how to care for it and style it .

I love Hannah so much. She always does a great job with my curly hair even when I have no idea what I want to do she’s always offering suggestions based off of my curl pattern and how I want to style is and showing me new ways I can wear it too.

Sent photos of my current hair plus what I wanted. I asked if I should come in for a consultation and they said no, just to send photos but had no follow up questions, so I assumed they knew what they were doing. Went in for my appointment only to be told that they refused to do what I asked. Also, even if they would do it, they didn't have the product there! Like, I made this appointment over a week in advance and they didn't prepare at all. they asked another hair stylist too if they would do it and they said no too! I couldn't believe it. I guess the hairstylists here just don't have the skill? I definitely prefer them saying that they can't do it versus messing up my hair. But really would have preferred to know this before I blocked out 4 hours of my work day for this appointment. Also, another salon did exactly what I wanted and did a great job!
Replying to the comment from the owner: it had nothing to do with the health of my hair. She just refused to do a color service because no one there works with permanent coloring?? Only toners. If this is a salon that only does toners, fine, but it should be advertised that way. And the second hair stylist said that they refuse to touch hair that has boxed dye in it (mine did not but I thought this showed another lack of skill). I just don't think it's a proper salon if your hair stylists don't have a variety of skills

Grace absolutely killed it with my hair. I went in for a wolf cut and wispy bangs and i stressed how much i wanted layers. i mentioned how its a nice cut for me since i have thick long hair. she took it a step further and helped get rid of most of the weight. she was so kind and helpful in getting my hair exactly how i wanted it. it's a super cute salon and i definitely recommend it for anyone that might be intimidated by other salons. she even gave me a goody bag with pocky and other treats. :)

I cannot say enough kind words about this salon! It makes sense that you need to call a couple of weeks in advance for an appointment because of what they put into every client's experience. I absolutely love the staff and ambience.

Grace was lovely to work with for my June wedding! As an out of state bride, it was tricky to get everything done in the weeks leading up to my wedding. Grace was able to fit me in for a cut, color and trial. When a few days went by and sun damage altered the color, she squeezed me in for a correction which turned out perfectly! The trial went great and she documented all angles so well.The day of the wedding went perfectly. Grace was able to set-up in a relatively small space (Airbnb kitchen) and knock out hair for me, my mother and two sisters in record time! She had a great attitude and brought such fun energy to the day!Most importantly, my hair lasted through the whole day without feeling too stiff. Érica is AMAZING!! I've always been incredibly nervous about anyone cutting or coloring my hair since I've had a few bad experiences in the past (different salon), but she put me at ease and did a fantastic job giving me exactly what I wanted! Her highlighting skills are on point! She's also super cool, friendly and relatable, fun convos throughout the process which made the time pass super quick. Thank you Erica!! I'll definitely be back for all my touch ups and cuts

I love this salon! !!!My wonderful stylist relocated to this salon recently ... Its very clean ... upbeat cheerful vibe !! The best thing is they have Ms.Hannah... she does all my hair care and extensions ! Shes very knowledgeable and has a wonderful personality ( and I always love her style).. she keeps up with all the latest technology & techniques.. which gives me a choice of options!! She is quite popular so booking ahead is highly recommended . (Btw I looked for a couple years trying to find a stylist that does Caucasian blonde extensions... !!) Go see her ... lol yul Thank me !!!

It is a cute salon very well maintained. I was happy with my hair, until I realized it wasn't what I was used to. Which is fine. I'm used to heavy foils and they stylist didn't give me that. I paid for a full foil and only Received what I would consider a partial. $335 later. I'm stuck with something that won't ever be my favorite.
