Listening is an art.My computer suddenly shut off, then got stuck in a loop of turning on and turning off after 2 seconds again, repeat.I told them I had checked powercord, surge box and wall outlet; I had checked possible RAM issues; that I had disconnected all components including mobo, cpu, hard drives, rom drives, usb ports, gfx card, and the problem still persisted. I asked if they agreed I should replace the PSU."No, definitely not the PSU," they said. "Replacing RAM would be your cheapest fix." (Really!? Replacing 32gb of ram is the cheapest option!?) "If you're not attached to your data, we'd be happy to replace your hard drive, maybe put in a solid state drive."I don't know what my face looked like, but it must have been a misinterpreted expression of surprise since I couldn't believe they somehow found the logic to think that 1. It was a RAM issue while the mobo wasn't even powered. 2. That that was the 'cheapest' option. 3. That they suggested a hard drive swap. 4. That they suggested installing an SSD without checking whether I already had one. (I do. 2.)"Definitely not the PSU," they reiterated, even though I pointed out I highly suspected the PSU probably shut off to protect the innards and that there were some weird crackles in the current PSU."Nah, that's normal," they said. "Could be your mobo, but probably just RAM. We can replace 32gb for around 600$"I bought a PSU for 100$, installed it myself and everything works perfectly again. Except this nagging feeling that many customers probably have ended up paying 6 times as much without having their problem solved. Will never use their services. Seriously, you're better off asking your local computer enthusiast or repair shop around the corner.

Booked appointment online, received email and text confirming the appointment, I drove quite a distance past other Geek Squads to get the same day appointment and when I arrived I was told they’re booked. I told them I know because I took the last available appointment. They said we can’t do any more today and sent me on my way.Would’ve appreciated a text or email indicating they couldn’t help before I made the trip.

Very understaffed. We just signed up for their service a couple months ago and had no idea their repair and appointments would book so far out. Rather than marketing or promos… Best Buy & Geek Squad should invest their money in employees or pay to attract talent to fill the support gap. Time to adjust the P&L.

Spent hours online, charges me 40 bucks, and then took three days before sending me to the store because they couldn’t fix it. At the store they wanted over 200 dollars and said what I already paid was for online only. They said 6-7 days to fix a driver issue. Ridiculous. Went to an independent and he fixed it in 15 minutes.

I was ignored and purposely overlooked by one of the employees named Nick... He knew I was there waiting, but, helped the Hispanic Man whom came shortly after me... Nick looked and asked him for help instead of me and after dealing with the customer he was already helping when I showed up, he immediately helped the Hispanic guy... Than after helping him, he never came back out to help me...... I felt it was an undercover way of an employee being racists towards me as an customer... People do not need to straight forward to let a person know they are being prejudice or racists... This is another way a racists person shows they don't want to help a person of color whose been waiting patiently for 20 minutes, but was purposely looked over. But since he had no choice between us, he preferred to help the Hispanic man instead... I'm sure if it was between the Hispanic and a White person, he would of helped the White person out first and ignore the Hispanic guy...I will make sure I will do my job to let people know that this man pulled out some racists bs on his job... I would not be surprised if whoever is over that store location, will take up for this man cause there is a thing called privilege that they have...I will do my job to let it know not to go through geek squad at this location...

After having HelloTech out, who did not get my internet/networking back online after having paid for that and wanting to charge me more to come back out, I called Geek Squad with the intent to have them out to get me back up and running. (I have had previous good experiences with Geek Squad). The tech on the phone ran me through several possible fixes and determined it would take someone to come out. So I thanked him and said I would try one last thing with Centurylink, which I did. In the end, I didn't need anyone to come out; Centurylink had a nice tech person who volunteered to help me because he had had the same problem at home. Technically they were not supposed to help me but he did. At any rate, Geek Squad spent time with me on the phone for free and whenever I have a need again, I would call them.
