Came in to Johns because of the helpful videos that I have seen on Dan Keller’s podcast. Connor is very knowledgeable and even personally helped tie some rigs for me for lingcod. The shop was well stocked with all the best gear and not a bunch of junk. I would highly recommend making the trip even if you are in seattle or the east side. 10/10

Man I can’t say enough good things about this place. I walked in after we snapped a cheap rod/reel combo from big5 on a monster lingcod. I did a little research and thought I knew what I wanted. Immediately the guys at Johns set me straight and even saved me a bunch of money on gear compared to what I thought I needed. No upselling or pressure to spend more money than I was comfortable with. That on top of the fact that they never made me feel like an idiot, just wanted to help me and my kids catch fish. I will definitely go out of my way to give these guys my business moving forward, and luckily that’s not hard since they’re an easy stop on the way to the 10th street launch. They also told me about their Facebook “subscription” which is $10/month and saved me 15% on my purchase. Again, can’t say enough good things.

Hey guys, new-ish Puget Sound fisherman here and the Saltwater Fishing Journal is a must-have for any aspiring angler in these parts, as well as your frequent updates on Facebook... so so so valuable, salmon in particular seemed so intimidating to me at first but all your advice gave me the confidence to get started. In addition, I'm absolutely loving the new videos that you're putting out with Dan Keller... super helpful and informative plus chock full of new learnings and insights from all your time on the water (e.g. how John's choice of coho gear has evolved from the last edition of the book). So generous of you guys to take the time to share all that you know to make it more enjoyable for guys like me who don't have a lifetime of experience. Also a shout-out for the coho fishing seminar that John did I think four years ago (posted on YouTube) - I can't wait to try the 3rd rod out the back!

His book is amazing and simple to use. My fishing , crabbing and shrimping spots were DEAD ON in his book. Every single spot I had numbers on in my GPS that I worked to find and saved over many years of finding on my own beforeI purchased my first book were in his Saltwater Fishing Journal book. Was fun putting in the miles but this book makes it fast and simple. Thank you!

One thing that resonates with me is when the guy I was talking with told me not to buy something because he wanted me to catch fish so I would come back. He steered me to what he said was going to work and he was spot on. Trust!!

Made a purchase online as it said they had the rod in stock. I contacted them 3 times over the span of a week to confirm my order and ensure it was still in stock. No replies at all, just a cancelled order with no explanation of anything. Steer clear of this place.
