I wonder if the shopkeepers are aware of the fact that this particular gift shop is mentioned in Bill Wurtz's famous 'Mt Saint Helens is About to Blow Up' song on YouTube. The guy is an absolute legend, I can see a few reviewers here making references to that song.
So, shopkeepers, if you haven't heard the song before, make sure to have a listen to it!

The lady here calls itself a “Tourist Trap”. OK lady. We bought $50 worth of stuff in here and almost returned all of our stuff once she said that stupid remark. Have several seats mam. The store is OK. Would be better with better customer service.

We enjoyed our Saturday afternoon visit. Not very busy. The center had informative and some interactive displays. The 17-minute video was well done and emotionally moving. Entrance fee for adults/seniors was only $5. We enjoyed walking the trail & boardwalk to view Mt. St. Helens. Gentle trail with no steep hills. Many photo opportunities.

Went even though the landslide closed Johnston Ridge. I'm glad I made the trip. Lots of things to do still in the free Forestry learning center. Actually probably the best family location. They have a playground, exhibits that work for all ages and a short film all of which seem to have something for everyone. Theres also a nice gift shop with surprisingly reasonable prices on coats if you forget one and lots of other stuff. You can also exit and take a mile or so nature walk with a clearly signed path and a short climb will take you to an observation area with several telescopes (also free). From there I checked out a scenic view since sometimes St Helens can be obscured by the clouds. I then went to the free Science and Learning center. Less to do but cool in its own way and not terribly far from the other center. What it does have is a very good view of Mt St Helens which is kind of the whole point. Both are definitely worth the trip so I hope people don't avoid the area due to Johnston RIdge closing for 2023.
