They charge u $75 if u have a momma cat n she is either with or without her kittens. Any adult cat u bring them u have to pay them to take it so if u find a cat u might as well keep it if ur poor like me n volunteer work is all I do. So I work I just don't get paid. I offered my time in payment for fixing sick kittens I found n 2 they put down right away n 2 others I can't bring myself to call n check on. But I did 2 days later find the mom and now these last 2 weeks she's been everywhere around here looking for her babies. I have 5 other kittens who are either getting over what the first kittens had or they have it and it's going away. So with some honey wet food mixed with powdered kitten formula I have brought back 2 near death kittens n the others got a mild case. So I don't think they tried to help the kittens.PLUS IM AGAINST CAGING ANIMALS UNLESS ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. I have kept all 37 cats n kittens from being in a shelter, unless they were taken to one after being with their new family. Which I tell everyone that if they can't keep the cats cat kitten to just bring it back here to me. I will take back any and all kitties given from here. So 4 kittens I thought would do better there to survive n try to keep my herd of strays healthy but they have gotten whatever is going thru here and mine are thriving with my home honey remedy while the ones I was told by most out there who read my blogs on social media that vets help with feral cats on healing them n fixing them n getting them back out to where they have been or put in a foster home. Send me a reply if u r a vet who is willing to help me in saving lives not losing them. If ur here to save a life n r willing to barter for services please get ahold of me!!!!!! Thanx

My daughter had found two kittens at a boat launch we couldn't keep them so we took them here the place was clean warm and very friendly! They had dog houses all outside around the property with food dishes for the stray animals near by. They told my daughter she could call and check on the kittens in a couple days which really helped her this place was great they also agreed to keep the kittens together which was really cool!

Such caring, compassionate people! They really care for the animals who find their way to the shelter. We are what we like to refer to as “serial adopters”. Our last 4 dogs have come from the HSSV.

We adopted scout (now Marston) from here about a week ago. The staff was so friendly and helpful! Even though they were busy everyone was more than happy to answer questions and help us meet our new family member! Our adoption process was a really positive experience and we love our quickly growing sweetheart. He's such a doll! We have also adopted a cat through them in the past (several years ago) and that was a purely positive experience aswell.

My mother in law came up to your facility looking for a companion, she recently lost hers, he was 15. She found a little dog that she was very interested in, she filled out the application, gave photos required. She was approved, they said Friday the dog would be ready, she even called before that time inquiring about the dog, saying she was eager to get that dog, you said Friday, well, Friday comes, they adopted it out on Thursday or before, she is very disappointed and so am I. You need to change the way you do things and the information you give people. I understand that you fit people and dogs together but what makes you think they were better, there wasn't anyone else interested in that dog, or if there was, why didnt you let her know that, and why did you lie and say the dog would be adoptable on Friday and she went there at 11a.m. right when you opened the doors today, friday, and the dog was gone. How sad and rude. I've read the reviews and she's not the only one you've done that to.

This place is like an animal prison camp. You are allowed to pet the animals. Not allowed to give the animals treats. I can understand if some of the animals may be on a diet restriction, but all of them? The cages for the cats are adequate for them, but not for you to stick your fingers in to pet them. The staff, either volunteer or paid, were terrible. There were four staff members behind the desk, and 3 people, including myself, could not understand how to go through to see the dogs. They have signs saying go 2 different ways. These four staffers wouldn't get up to take us. We went back to get directions 3 times, and they still would not help. I will never go back here. I found it odd that they had signs saying not to take pictures. There was a dog there with his name stitched in the collar. If someone took a picture of him and the collar, maybe the owner would be reunited with its lost dog.

I would highly recommend HSSV for anyone looking to adopt a pet. The staff were fantastic. The adoption process is thorough but fast. All the animals seemed very well cared for.We stopped by at the shelter recently with our adopted dog. He clearly had no negative feelings about his time there and was so excited to see the staff again (and vice versa!)We live in Canada and the cross-border adoption was easy. HSSV were very accommodating and provided all documentation for us to bring our new dog across the border.

We adopted Kodiak 4 1/2 years ago. Siberian Husky. He’s been great! Kramer (black) we adopted approximately 15 years ago. He passed away six years ago. They both have been great dogs.

I just wanted to share with the staff today 7/3/23 my Granddaughters & I adopted 3 beautiful cats, two adults, one senior, they all get along with our 4 dogs & vs versa. The cats get along with each other & are getting to know the new surroundings. We feel very blessed to have these 3 new additions to our family & just want to thank you for all your hard work in placing these fur-babies with us.

I called ahead and told the staff what I was looking for in a cat, I wanted a bonded pair, they were ready for me when I walked through the door! Everyone was so kind and helpful and they picked out the perfect cats for me. They are settling in well and are so sweet I couldn’t be happier! (They are still in a cage getting used to their new surroundings but I will open the door soon, they are happy)

I highly recommend going here to get your forever pet. Working first hand at Hssv they care for the animal like family even though my time was short there I wouldn't change it for the world.

The staffs made the adoption process easy and quick. We got to bring home our new dog, as part of our family now. I couldn’t be more happier with everything from the animal shelter. Thank you for making it possible. Always admire their jobs.

I wouldn’t suggest going here at all. I’m glad that they want to help animals but belittling people is not OK one they didn’t even know who I am, but they thought it was OK to be saying rude remarks to me too. It’s a unprofessionalism of them to even step out of their lane to even say that to a person that’s coming to them for help three they don’t know everyone’s circumstances all they understand and get is that we are just trying to get rid of our animals and that’s not the case all the time for people, for they like to be very rude on the phone even in person.

If you could rate an animal shelter, is zero, I guarantee you a lot of us would they are very unprofessional like to leave very rude comments about people coming to them for help. I got criticized because I took into animals all the way from Tontasket she didn't even hear my whole story and she implied and you thought it was good to get dogs when I explained to her that I had ran into financial issues after I had realized, I'm gonna be giving birth to my second daughter. I had to bring my dogs up to Whatcom humane society, knowing that there's a slight chance my dogs could get put down because one I didn't want to go and trust people like SVHS because of how unprofessional they are I brought my cousins cat there, and they were completely rude to me even then, when I was pregnant with my first born, they couldn't understand that the cat was attacking us because she could smell other cats in the house. I was living in a townhouse just moved in there, and my cousin could not do it because she didn't have a state ID and they were getting mad about that because of how old she was but they don't understand we grew apart no matter how many times we went to them they treated us rudely. These were two different times within two different year spence if I was you and you need to rehome your dog or surrender your animal or cat don't go here look at fostering websites first before even trying to come here or go to Whatcom humane Society they do let you to know that there's a chance of your animal might get euthanized as long as they're not aggressive and have a major medical problem. I trust them more than I trust this place, which is sad because people come to them needing help wanting to find a better home or look for a better option for their animal and they have the audacity to belittle the people that are coming for help, shame on all of you guys that work there
