This safeway sucks. they have no baskets because people steal but the lady that grabs carts..I heard her say she "didn't want to." on top of all that they have no customer service person a lot of the time and there are multiple times I have gone lately having no cashier making it hard for elder shoppers and those who buy alcohol to stand in line forever. idk what's been going on lately but it's made me have a sour taste for safeway and they don't seem to care about the people that shop there.

The cashier was very helpful. I forgot my Safeway card, so she entered my phone number and ensured I got the discounts. Most Safeways are great stores, and this one stands out even among great stores.

I have to take 2 buses to get to safeway. Senior with Health issues. Wont even let customers use bathrooms before have take 2 buses home. Guess you dont want me to eat. Should i pee outside like the homeless?

This is my local grocery store. I shop here weekly and I routinely have bad experiences, unfortunately. There is a lady at the deli case who frequently yells at customers and accuses customers of stealing. She has no customer service skills, as well as the young male manager who stands by the self check-out area. I am frequently stared at by these two as if I am shoplifting. It is unfortunate that this is a common experience as a regular customer who spends money here.
I downloaded the store app so I could use digital coupons without having to ask the employees to honor store coupons whenever I shop. The app was not working as I checked out my items, and the manager was not helpful at all. The manager chuckled at my concerns when I expressed that it is a barrier to elderly people, among others, to get store deals if coupons are all digital and requires an app. When asked to honor sales and coupons, the manager rolls his eyes and is very unprofessional. Many elderly people, non-native English speakers, among other groups of people, struggle to download and navigate apps, let alone have smartphones. Requiring customers to download an app to use a coupon and refusing to honor coupons without an app is a barrier to many people receiving deals that the store offers. It is also discriminative to minority groups of people. The young male manager lacks professionalism, critical customer service skills, and any social skills. I hope that leadership above him can address this to improve customer experience.
This Safeway is very unwelcoming, and unfortunately, it is the closest grocery store to me. I hope this store makes some changes to management and hire new people with better customer service skills. Be warned that you will very likely be treated poorly while shopping here.

This Safeway sold me expired ground beef at $10 for a pound. I went back less than a week later to return it. I had the card I bought it on and my loyalty account number and they wouldn't return it because I threw my paper receipt away. I showed them my bank statement and everything. After speaking with a manager, and the people behind me in line sticking up for me, they finally refunded me $10 and took their expired beef back. What should have been a simple interaction took a lot of arguing with management. Apparently Safeway is the only store that can't look up purchases through a credit card OR loyalty number.

I came in today to grab some steaks but had to use the restroom and they have it closed to the public. Seriously??
Edit to add: they are closed permanently to customers. Not temporarily. Not for cleaning. Invest in a key/lock and drivers license system in order to use it with a receipt showing you purchased.

It is prohibitively expensive to shop here. They have a membership system that makes it not so bad, but unlike the vast majority of places, you have to pay for it every month.

No public restrooms!!! All Safeways offer a public restroom and I rely on this as I drive a lot for work. Sad to see and unfortunately for me I’ll be in pain for the next who knows how long. Thanks Safeway. Wish this were illegal.
