We rented out a room here for our sons birthday party and it was perfect for what we needed. All the staff were very nice and communicative about everything. Will definitely consider them again when we need a room rental.

There is an event going on today called empty soup bowls. $20.00 for adults 10.00 for kids . You donate this money it's to help community food banks. And then pick out a bowl and you can get lunch for free.

The Burien Community Center is adjacent to Dottie Harper Park that I have enjoyed from my skateboard riding youth when chill-laxing in the shade on a hot Summer day w/bbq pits, watching the babies have fun on the play-zone.TheRealInternetMan?

I rented the Seahurst room for my wedding reception. The pros were that it was a beautiful space and it was very affordable. Also, there was good communication with the staff prior to the event. The cons were from the day of the wedding. When we arrived to set up, the staff talked with my mom to provide clean up instructions. I wish that they could have provided that before the day of the wedding, but that isn't what was bothersome. After explaining the clean-up details, the staff hovered continuously for the entire event. I (the bride) was literally running to try to get everything set up in time. I was then told by staff that I needed to monitor all the people coming in and out of the building since technically they were closed that day. My ceremony was at the park next to the community center, so guests were coming in and out of the building before everything started to use the bathroom, help set up, etc. And when I seemed shocked that they wanted the bride to do this, the response was of annoyance. The staff member said in a very rude tone "well you seemed stressed so we will just have to talk later." Then there was a staff change. The new staff wanted to go through the clean up information again and it wasn't enough that we had already done this with prior staff. They also wanted to meet the people who would be doing the actual clean-up. We hired people to come in at the end of the night to clean, so those people weren't there. Again, the staff was rude and annoyed. None of these items were addressed before the wedding day and I had no idea that it was going to be such a headache. I assumed that we would show up, be let in, get a check list of cleaning items, and that would be it. After all, I already paid a deposit and signed off on my responsibility to return the room to the condition I found it. They also wanted to discuss all the rules for the night (no hard alcohol, time we needed to end, etc) that I had already gone over and signed before the wedding. I knew these rules and didn't need to spend time on my wedding day being reminded. I signed off on all these items. My family and guests were all commenting on how rude and overbearing the staff was. It was a lot of unnecessary added stress to my wedding day.

A friendly staff and a wildly wide range of classes and activities. This center is a real boon for Burien residents and others who visit.
