So my 14th wedding anniversary is quickly approaching and...well, yeah, I'm kind of scrambling as I usually like to have this sort of thing figured out months ahead of time. Anyways the symbolic gifts for the 14th wedding anniversary are ivory, opal and gold jewelry and since our first anniversary we've always used those traditional/modern symbols that go with each wedding year as gift ideas. Kinda makes it easy but sometimes we had to get creative. In this case I thought meh, gold jewelry should be simple enough, but at the same time it's so cliché and well, that's always been my fall back when I can't think of anything else. I did think of synthetic/fake ivory or maybe something with an elephant, but I didn't like anything I found and didn't want to settle. Then oddly enough I came across the name Ivory Jacks on one of those side advertisements probably due to the creepy interweb stalking of my Google searches. So of course rather than clicking the link I do my own online research of the company, found their website and went from there. I asked my questions, they answered promptly. Apparently they use ivory from fossil mastodon/wooly mammoth tusks. So genuine ivory, just not from the illegal poaching of elephants. Well, after a few days of asking questions, going through their website, more online research I decided to pull the trigger and order a genuine ivory ring. And within a few days I had the perfect 14th wedding anniversary present for my wife! Though I never spoke to anyone, they were very good at answering my questions through their website and email, I found their website informative, ordering process easy, they shipped quickly, and the ring is very cool. Hoping the wifey feels the same way. On top of that they are a local small business which I do love to support when and where I can. So if you are in the market for a unique gift with actual history(I mean how cool and unique is fossil mammoth ivory) I would look into Ivory Jacks eco conscious Jewelry. They make more than rings BTW.
