Senior care providers should be better communicators. My MIL left not even understanding what the provider was saying because she was wearing multiple masks. I understand you wanting to protect yourself but you simply can't provide good healthcare if you can't communicate.

I've been a patient for several years, and have had mildly positive to very positive experiences with the staff and care they provide. They are part of Peace Health network of health providers and the local hospital, and all are connected by an efficient computer network, so everyone has my up to date health records and getting specialist care is easy. The Center for Senior Health staff are efficient and professional and friendly; wait times are moderate. I've not had any outstanding doctors at the center, but all have been competent or better. As for the negative reviews here about waiting months to see a doctor, this is totally not true once you are a patient at the office. For non-critical issues, I always get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time, given how busy the office is. For issues needing quick attention, I've always gotten a nurse or medical assistant to speak to me the same day I contact the office. I haven't needed to see my doctor ASAP, but my sense is they would get an appointment for me within a very few days if it were needed.

Poor--and potentially dangerous--communication from the front staff desk. My mother is native Japanese and in her 70's and called PeaceHealth Center for Senior Health because she'd been exposed to Covid-19. My father has cancer, severe liver disease, and takes medication that suppresses his immune system, so our family was eager to get a covid test quickly. My mother speaks slowly, and her English takes patience to understand. I fully acknowledge that it's not as easy to understand as fluent English. But the front desk staff was: 1) impatient and talked over my mother when she tried to ask questions 3) seemed dismissive about my mother's concerns that she might have Covid-19 4) was unclear about next steps 5) demonstrated no sense of compassion for a sick elderly woman 6) Lacked competence to communicate with a non-native English speaker Thankfully my sister was present and took over the phone call so that my mother could schedule a Covid-19 test. Our siblings and their partners work in healthcare as therapists and doctors both in Whatcom County and other areas of the country. We know from experience that health clinics can communicate compassionately and competently with ALL of their patients if their staff is properly trained. My mother was not treated with compassion or competence by Center for Senior Health. If they make improvements, I will update this review. * We appreciate Dr. Naori Yamashiro as an excellent and respectful physician for my mother. Hopefully the remainder of the staff can catch up.

Yes, it took a few months on a waiting list to get established as a new patient in the clinic, but I'm so glad I did. My Nurse Practitioner is wonderful. She listens well and follows up on my concerns, and is not hesitant to refer me to other providers for specialty care.

Love Senior Health. Dr Rattan is awesome. The front office staff are always welcoming and ready to help .

3-5 month wait for an initial appointmentIn the 20 years I’ve dealt with them, Peace Health has never placed the patient first

I suggested to a friend of mine that she contact this group because she needed a new primary care provider. When she called, she was told that there was a 4-6 month wait to see one of their doctors. They told her that she should go to a walk-in clinic, rather than directing her to another doctor's office. She called Associates in Family Medicine (not part of the Peacehealth network) and got an appointment within 3 days! Beware of Peacehealth!
