Backcountry Essentials is a store with very knowledgeable, kind, and friendly staff who are also cool, easygoing, and welcoming. The employees provide excellent customer service and are absolutely great. The shop offers rentals and sales of ski and touring equipment, with a selection of gear that includes great clothing options and competitive prices. There are often great deals available. The staff's expertise is highlighted in their boot fitting service, which is described as incredible, fantastic, and next level. The boot fitters take extensive measurements, share so much information, and show zero pressure to purchase. The shop is also known for its wizard ski techs who help with diagnosing equipment failure and navigating warranty processes, even providing loaner skis. The whole experience is awesome. The store has an upstairs section and a fridge with beer, which is a nice plus. There is also usually a sweet dog in the shop. Customers highly recommend Backcountry Essentials, noting it is the North Sound shop to purchase gear from, with some people making a special commute for its services.
We were passing Bellingham on our way to mt Baker and wow such a grate store, I was amused with the selection of equipment, competitive prices, great clothing options on the second floor, and of course the staff was absolutely cool and easygoing. Love the upstairs section. Lots of great deals. Picked up a few things and the guy working the counter was pretty chill. Nice place to shop.
