As a new Bellevue resident I recently sought local counsel for setting up a foundation and managing a recent significant estate matter. I indicated I had some immediate questions in addition to desiring a longer term engagement. The receptionist connected me to someone, who cut me off mid sentence and told me they were not interested and good luck. What the hell kind of operation is this? I run a multimillion dollar global fund. Good luck indeed.

My wife and I have been working with H&W since 2017. Initially we found the service to be wonderful; no complaints. That all changed during the pandemic.
Suddenly we were faced with:
-Tedious and confusing online forms that made filing taxes through H&W super stressful.
-Failure to file our taxes in a timely fashion (despite our providing complete materials months in advance of the deadline).
-Mistakes in the information that was submitted by H&W to the point where we found ourselves having to deal with the IRS asking for additional money. Adding insult to injury, we were also charged by H&W directly for the time it took an employee of the firm to help us respond to the IRS.
It makes me sad to write this, because I really did have a good several years working with the company, but I cannot recommend them in their current state.

The worst kind of CPA firm, stay away as much as possible. They never have anything to save my taxes, they send huge bills instead and that too more than 6 months later of email consultation. Never have an in time appointment, then discuss things in email and then charge obnoxiously Specifically Nika!

I met with David Gutierrez to discuss tax planning/strategy and I was really impressed with this knowledge, patience and professionalism. He is really invested in helping his clients and is able to effectively explain complicated tax guidelines in layman's terms, which is very appreciated. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and communicative CPA with knowledge about local state laws and guidelines.

I have almost the same experiences as Nguyen and Ali. I am glad I am not the only one - but really disappointing. Each of us have our own unique experience but the way we have been treated and charged is the same. It’s been horrible. It’s been more stressful than helpful. So much time and money wasted.

I just filed my tax return this year by myself and recalled the worst experience with this firm last year. I have done all of my tax returns except for 2020. They charged a ridiculous set of fees such as new client intake ($164.80), technology fees (2x82.40). I had no ideas how they recorded time preparing my tax return (e.g., just charged 8 hours for 1040 preparation). The total I paid for my last year return was 20x more than I would have done myself and another firm I was in contact with. If they were upfront about that in the beginning (partly my mistake here), I’d never work with them. I thought about working with a professional CPA who could help with planning and be a go-to for tax questions from time to time, but I regretted. It’s absolutely not worth the money, at least for me.

So sorry to report that we were never really happy with the service that we have received over the last 7 years and today it ended with rudeness and disrespect. In the end, they filed our taxes with mistakes and were unwilling to help us fix the mistakes. Whether the mistakes came from us (which is exactly why we didn't want to file taxes ourselves and paid to have someone else do it) or them feels irrelevant. When the mistake was found, they blamed us, even though we gave them all of our documentation. In the end, instead of being helpful, they were rude, arrogant, and disrespectful.

You have a partner who truly cares with Hutchinson & Walter, and Nika is a total rock star!!! Our company went through a major upheaval due to negligence and fraud from a a former office manager. Nika stepped in, and not for a better word, "took control" of the situation. It took a solid year to sort out the mess and clean up the damage, and if any other accounting firm, we wouldn't have survived. I cannot overstate the quality, dedication, loyalty, perseverance and oversight that Nika and Hutchinson & Walter provided to us!
