Notice: do not use Winslow Animal Clinic in Bainbridge for rabbit spays.
This clinic is only removing the rabbit’s uterus and states that this is the recommended way to spay. I’m boarding a rabbit who I recommended be spayed after her previous boarding with me. She’s been spayed for 2 months now and is more aggressive than ever. I called the vet clinic where she was spayed, to find that they routinely do not remove ovaries. This was not a clinic I’ve ever recommended, but they need to be on a NOT recommended vet list. Please forward this to others who are recommending veterinarians.

WAC is what keeps the pet world alive on bainbridge. Dr barfeild and all the other vets are amazing! Nothing but positive from them

We've been taking our pets to WAC for over 10 years now. They have gone from 5 stars to 1 (zero if that were possible!). During the pandemic, they implemented an "us first" customer service policy, and they have doubled down on it since...the most important factor in all interactions is the convenience of WAC, regardless of the impact to patients and pet parents. None of this passé customer centric stuff for WAC! Examples...
Have an appointment? Arrive 15 min early and be prepared to wait as long as they say you wait. Do it in your car, and don't bother the staff. While you wait, fill out their long questionnaire even if you just did it, even if nothing has changed...because it's easier on us (yep, the admin staff actually said that). And if you filled out the advance health form, do not make the mistake of assuming the vet read it....they are very busy people (you of course are not).
Need to get in touch with WAC? They won't answer the phone, and will only respond to emails and texts when they want, and with the info they want.
Want to talk to a live human about schedules so you can coordinate their available appointments with your own schedule? Not happening...you get what you get, and you should be happy to get it!
Need a same day appointment? Bring your sick dog/cat to WAC at 9am and pick them up at 6pm or whenever WAC decides to call you. That way, your sick pet can spend the day with all the other sick pets. If it wasn't sick when it arrived, you can rest assured it will spend the day cowering in a cage and acquiring a variety of germs.
Already have an appointment for your pet? Pet parents wait in the car...it is so much easier for WAC to see your pet without pesky owners lurking about asking dumb questions or challenging recommendations.
Need to refill an Rx? Submit it online...and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait. Do not call to ask the status (they do not answer their phone)...they will tell you when it is ready, so just wait....
I could go on...bottom line, if you want to feel like an inconvenience, if you want to be treated with disrespect, come on by and they can accommodate you.

We've been taking our pets here since we moved to Bainbridge Island in early 2007. All of our pets have been rescues or strays, and some needing a lot of vet visits due to health issues. The owner, Dr. Barfield, as well as the rest of the doctors and vet techs have always been friendly, informative, and helpful. Whether it's a cat who decided to eat some lilies (poisonous to cats), or a dog that seems to be allergic to the world, they have always been great. I highly recommend them.

After 10 years and taking five pets here , feel this clinic has become increasingly bizarre and incompetent. The continued parking lot care in 2023 is bewildering but I dealt with it. Final straw was showing up with my geriatric cat for a scheduled euthanasia in July only to be asked why I was there . the same person who scheduled it several days before stated she "forgot" to put it on calendar then asked me to go "do errands" for an hour and come back (with cat in car). No apology offered. Certain staff seem clueless and have no customer service orientation which I shared + asked for price adjustment and was sent my full bill and "fired" via email within five minutes after putting my 14 yo cat down. I have no idea who is running the place but I deeply regret giving them my business and money for ten years. I am shocked by the shabby treatment after being a customer for so long . I wonder if the outcome would have been different had I opted for all the add ons to the euthanasia they push vs taking my pet home to bury simply. Beyond disappointing.

The vets are knowledgeable and kind. They always listen to my concerns and want to hear myself observations of how my pet is doing. I trust and respect them a great deal. Also, every assistant I have met seems to be someone well tunned in to animals. Wonderful veterinarian practice!

They have been great stewards of our animals' health over the past 12 years. All of the doctors, vet techs, and office staff love of animals show with every interaction.

WAC is the best place for pets. My tiny 13 year old cat had dental surgery where she needed 14 teeth removed and they took such great care of both of us. I am eternally grateful for how considerate and efficient they were. She was done in under a hour so they could minimise the risk of her being under at such an advanced age and they communicated with me so much throughout the whole process and I appreciate them so much. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment. It's worth, I promise!
