Great place for last minute rental equipment for a Mount rainier hike! You can rent equipment and simply drop it in the shop after-hours.

I’ve been here a few times, always the best customer service I’ve ever interacted with. They called back within minutes, and I didn’t even leave a voicemail asking for a callback. Jake from rental was also a huge help to my friend with his sleeping bag. If you ever need any help on gear, climbing, food/cafe/place to stay or general area knowledge - go here.

Incredible amount of mountaineering and hiking supplies for such a small store. Packed full of unique Rainier-themed gifts. Excellent supply of bags, hats, and even hiking boots. Don’t forget to pet the friendly little cattle dog and buy a sticker for your water bottle.

I nearly cried when the fissure fleece was sold out for the last time - until I found one in the Gear Cache!! “Used tier 2”. Guys, this thing is basically brand new looking! It does have a number marked on the collar from its misspent youth in the RMI rental shop, but shows no other signs of wear!
Now I finally have a replacement for my ailing, faded, (but still mostly useable) O.G. Bight hoodie! I kind of want to pack this new one away till the old one’s really done. Hopefully BD makes a Bight gear hood!

I purchased the Helio Active Shell T-4 without understanding the system. I read after the purchase and expected that it may have a little nick here or there and perhaps a small hole. I received it the other day and was surprised to see that it was pretty much newish. I had the number stenciled inside, which was expected, but the quality of the garment was great. I can't wait for the next sale to find some matching pants!

We had the absolute best experience with Whittaker Mountaineering. My husband and I got lucky enough to visit Mount Rainier on a sunny day in November. It was after the mountain had just gotten quite a bit of snow, so we thought we probably wouldn’t be able to do anything but go see the mountain. We came to rent snow chains as they’re required in the park in November. But, my husband got to talking to the guy at the desk about snowshoeing Pan Point (guy was super super friendly and knowledgeable) and we ended up renting snow shoes and getting to hike panorama point on a beautiful blue sky day, all because he assured us we could do it and that there would be an easy path to follow from others hiking it. He estimated it would take us 3hrs. He was right on! Huge thank you, we would’ve been so upset to have missed out on hiking it just because we didn’t know it was possible in that much snow. Will definitely stop back by next time we visit. Also prices were reasonable and seemed fair!

Service was outstanding; Selection - they had the chain size I needed to get up to Paradise (Mt. Rainier). Value - Good. The young men that were working the Sunday afternoon we needed their assistance were extremely courteous, polite and helpful. Thanks Ezra and Oliver - you two make added to a wonderful Sunday afternoon drive!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very knowledgeable and they have a wide variety of souvenirs and outfitting supplies. They have a few snacks as well. We rented chains here for our trip to Paradise and it was a super easy process.

I mistakenly purchased a pair of used boots. The price was fair so I would have been fine to keep them excited they have fire damage leaving rough area inside the boot. They also run a bit small. I emailed the company and was told no refunds. Seems silly to burn a customer over $100 which I'm sure means a lot less to them then it does to me. Disappointing.
