Paid $300 to get my truck starting trouble fixed. They said they replaced the distributor cap. Got my truck home and it wouldn’t start again. I tried charging the battery and doing the cheapest and most basic first. New starter. I bought a new battery, changed cam and crankshaft sensors. Changed plugs and wires. Changed ignition control module. Finally decided to pull the cap tonight. It was so green and corroded inside the cap. $300 to pull 2 screws and swap a piece of plastic. After pulling the cap off today I realize that $300 for removing 2 star bit screws was a rip off. Truck still won’t start. Going to be replacing the distributor myself this week. Thanks Rostens for charging me $300 to remove 2 screws. My truck hasn’t been running since December 2020 because I’ve been researching everything I needed to replace. Turns out a distributor would of done it. Rostens should of taken a photos of the rotor button and the actual metal internals instead of charging me 300 for a 30 dollar cap and 2 screws. I’m not mad because I’m learning things. Thanks for this valuable life lesson. I wonder how many other people get hustled like that. I was excited to have my truck running for a day, but really though... integrity. Learning how to make TDC has been fun. I guess I will never go to another shop again.
