I stayed there not too long ago with a friend. There was a man at the desk who was very nice, but the woman at the desk was rude. The room itself was very clean but they provide very little soap and other things in the bathroom. I left a towel outside the door because I thought they would pick it up (most hotels I have stayed at do, and I have worked in several so I assumed that was the case.) The woman banged on the door very loudly at 9 in the morning to yell at my friend who answered the door, and told him "Don't leave things out here, if the stain doesn't come out of this towel you will have to pay for it!" And then she took them anyway. There was Walmart hangers in the room, and very little coffee/creamer/soap/ towels. At one point, my friend accidentally locked the key in the room. When the woman let us in, she leaned into the room and looked around as if we were doing something wrong. And when we checked out, she told my friend that she "has to check the room" to make sure he could get his deposit back. I have never had anyone say anything like that in a hotel I have stayed at, and I will not be staying there again. I felt like I was walking on eggshells. It is not worth the cheap price.

We have been coming to the San Juan Motel for years and have had nothing but positive things to say during our previous stays. Our last stay however, was beyond dreadful. The bathroom had hair in the bathtub and part of the hvac vent was loose and seemingly ready to collapse. The chairs were littered with stains. The tv remote was covered in food and sticky so bring Lysol wipes and expect to do your own cleaning if you plan to stay here.
The comforter had also clearly not been washed and both my parter and I woke up with rashes and itchy skin. The worst part though was later in the day after our departure, while enjoying a dinner in Friday Harbor, the owner left a message requesting a call back and that it was urgent. We assumed we had left a personal item in the room so immediately returned the call.
That was when the owner blindsided us with an accusation that the mattress “was soaked in urine.” We were traveling with a 10 month old baby who has never once soaked through her diaper in her life so I remarked how I found that unlikely since her diaper was dry on the outside and that I would have noticed had she “wet the bed.” The owner responded that they will be charging us extra because they need to dispose of the mattress and when I indicated I would dispute the charge, she stated “you know what you did” and then immediately hung up on me.
The next day we noticed a $200 additional charge. This was also extremely frustrating to have to deal with on a vacation and had us both stressed out during what was supposed to be a relaxing trip.
What I think may have happened is that our baby sweated during the night and there were prior urine stains on the mattress so they found a convenient excuse/customer to subsidize their new mattress purchase. I’m 100% certain that we did not damage their mattress but the fact that they accused me of lying about damaging their mattress should tell you everything you need to know about this “establishment.” Why would I even return their call if I knew we had damaged their mattress?
Also, what kind of lodging doesn’t even use mattress protectors anyway, it’s like seriously disgusting.
We will never be staying in this filthy and rundown motel ever again and urge others to find other accommodations. If you do find yourself at this motel, I’d recommend taking pictures of before and after so they cannot blindside you with bogus charges. I’m guessing this is a common practice of theirs.

A great find for us. We stayed in the San Juan Motel for one night while attending a family reunion. Clean, spacious room with two beds, tv, microwave, cooktop, sink, and medium-sized refrigerator. Pleasant and helpful staff. If you are looking for a comfortable stay at a budget price, this is it.

We made sure to take extra care of the room, were very gentle with everything even though half the stuff in our room didn’t work. They only gave us half of our deposit back because they insisted we smoked weed in our room and one of the towels was dirty. We will not be staying here again and will not recommend this place to anybody. Very run down and gross. Not to mention the lady at the front desk was completely rude with zero customer service skills.

Amazing service! The owners were so helpful. The rooms were super big and had a lot of privacy due to the layout. Full size fridge, stove top, the best amenities. Felt like a mini apartment for my family and I. The building is older but came with lots of comfort, and cleanliness!! The stay was very safe, no crime in site. Walkable to food, convenience stores. This stay felt very nostalgic.

Nice motel in the price. We stayed for one night. Everything was clean including the floor. The gas top didn't work but we anyways didn't have any use for that. The owners live in the motel and are helpful.
Couple of drawbacks - there was no place to hang clothes. Not even a single hook.
The bathroom was attached to the other room and it someone stayed in the first room they had to go all the way to the other room.

Service was great. It's older and definitely needs some work but it also made it charming. Location is great.

Although there were no closets for hanging clothes, there was ample dresser drawers.
The kitchenette with full sized refrigerator/freezer is a wonderful option when staying in Anacortes for multiple days.
It's an easy walk to downtown shops & restaurants.
There are two queen beds in adjacent rooms with TV for each.
Safety: Motel office has cameras in all parking areas.
