This will probably get deleted but I’m gonna say it anyway…Bob Norman is the most out of touch “man” I’ve ever met. Literally makes all the staff say what he wants to say….hes insanely controlling. Our 2.5 year old picked up on aggressive behavior by other children in this school and was somehow targeted with write ups and ultimately expulsion. On her last day she has a great day up until nap time- my daughter didn’t want to sleep and was FORCED on a sleep mat where she fought back and ended up being expelled. We even met with them weeks before about what we can do to solve the situation and Bob literally said “it’s not the Goddard way to intervene with behavioral correction or intervention.” he talks about getting kids ready for public school and as a public school teacher I am BAFFLED. ?? other parents have had an issue with the 2-3 YO room teachers because they have no idea how to handle that age. It’s a bunch of 20 year olds trying to make easy money. You’re only paying for the name when you can literally go anywhere else in the area and get better education. My daughter still says she’s “bad” and pretend plays about going to the “office”. Don’t waste your money on this sorry excuse for childcare.

Amazing facility and staff. My daughter was well taken care of here and had the opportunity to learn valuable skills. She is well prepared for Kindergarten.

Management it the absolute worst. All money hungry & inconsistent with their rules. Would leave one star if i could.

HIGHLY recommend this school! We just wrapped up Goddard's pre-K graduation complete with a gown and cap and our daughter is going to really, really miss all of the wonderful staff and teachers. Where to begin? First, before we moved to the area, the staff was super kind and helpful. The owner was willing to do a virtual tour to help us make feel comfortable with the school. Since attending, our daughter learned sign language, practiced yoga, learned Spanish, and made a ton of friends/attended multiple birthday parties. She loved her teachers, the school is very secure, and is in a wonderful location nestled near some woods, but still in a convenient Yorktown location. My daughter even came home one day with tomatoes from their garden! We got tadpole updates daily with photos (LOVE that as a working mom) and the school communicated super well during COVID spikes. I have extremely high standards for the people who care for my children and Goddard exceeded all of them!

The teachers are caring, loving experienced educators. They engage the students in a form of learning by play. The office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Phone calls are returned promptly in the rare occasion that they go to voicemail; they usually pick up by the first or second ring. Bob, the owner, is friendly and knows each child by name. He is on site daily and his participatory style of operating the school makes things run smoothly. The facility is immaculately clean inside and out. My grandson loved it there and still misses his teachers but was well prepared for kindergarten upon graduation.

Over the last 4 years, my daughter has attended The Goddard School in Yorktown. Through every transition to the next class, every drop-off, parent-teacher conference, and most certainly through this pandemic -- my family has become deeply rooted in this community. One grounded in safety, growth, education, compassion, patience, and most certainly love. While my daughter has most certainly excelled in foundational lessons, more importantly, she has learned empathy, friendship, caring, trust and confidence. Yes, she knows her colors and numbers, can write her name, and many other things. But she is the first child to hug a crying friend; she stands up not only for herself but also for others, and she is always willing to lend a helping hand. And as I would love to take all credit, her time at The Goddard School has instilled principles of being a good person and has given her the tools to excel in school and the community.

Owner and Administrator are awesome. The whole school is very good about keeping parents informed. Great communication - especially during COVID since we don’t physically enter the building to do drop offs and pick ups. Nice location. Safety is important to them and it shows! Would highly recommend!

This school is well kept and feels safe. But don’t be fooled, that does not cover up for the poor curriculum. My kid does not even know his basics. Pay attention to what your child is really learning in these pretty schools. Art is not the only subject.

We have been at The Goddard-Yorktown for over 3 years and have always had a positive experience. The teachers, director, assistant director and owner are all wonderful! My child has thrived and will continue to do so until Kindergarten. After searching for so long years ago, we made the right choice by choosing Goddard, hands down the best staff and school in Hampton Roads. The only negative is we can't stay for elementary ?!

Night and day to other daycares we’ve been to. Amazing staff, very safe/secure, and a great curriculum. The daily reports are thorough and help me stay connected to my daughter on school days. She had no trouble fitting right in.

I think you're doing a terrific job with my grandson....he appears most happy and the staff treats him well. The size of the nursery is just right and everyone is apparently very happy. Keep up the good work!Rebecca Wright-RaymoGrandmother to Fin Nelson)

My son has attended The Goddard School for the past 3 years, and we've both loved every day of it. The Goddard School has an outstanding curriculum, which has expanded my son's knowledge of science, nature, history, reading, and on and on. My son will graduate Pre-K this week, and his entire class will be singing the 50 states song (he knows all 50 states, without missing a beat), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Spanish, and sign language.I can't say enough positive things about The Goddard School's owner, staff, and teachers. We're sad to leave, but know that my son will already be well beyond kindergarten standards, in every subject, when he begins elementary school next year.
