I made a very last minute riding lesson as a birthday present for my husband who loves horses. Elizabeth accommodated us into her schedule and she was very welcoming and knowledgeable. My husband was very pleased with the lesson and absolutely loved Gus, the beautiful stallion he rode.

2 weeks ago we celebrated a friend’s birthday at Woodpecker Farm and had a blast! Pictorials after pictorials around the beautiful scenery of the farm. Horseback riding is awesome. The staff were very friendly especially Beth. Way to go Beth. I’m sure I’ll be going back one of these days!

Woodpecker Farm in Caroline County is a wonderful place for grandparents like me who bring their grandchildren to ride. My granddaughter is my excuse to sit under beautiful trees with a nice breeze blowing and just let my blood pressure go down. I love seeing the outstanding horses as they either wander around in the pastures or are with their riders in the ring. 'Unhappy' is not a term that would ever describe any living creature at Woodpecker; that includes dogs, horses, cats, and people. So often I have observed my granddaughter's lesson and have heard Ms. Beth say to a rider "Be soft on his mouth. Your horse is unhappy and we don't want an unhappy horse." I encourage anyone who just needs a feel-good moment to take a drive out to Woodpecker Farm and watch the beautiful horses.

Over the past 17 years, we have kept our three horses there. The farm is supernaturally beautiful! My daughter and I have fox hunted, shown locally, shown rated, evented and Beth has taken our IEA Team to nationals twice!!! Sometimes we just wander around in the woods with our sweet and happy horses. There is no place we'd rather be❤️

My daughter is in her second year riding at Woodpecker Farm, both with lessons and the IEA team. Woodpecker Farm was recommended to us after a Hanover barn (which had promised lessons and IEA) rudely and abruptly dropped all riders who would have been new to their facility. We were referred to Woodpecker Farm by a local horse show judge and coach, who assured me they had a fine reputation as a hunter barn and IEA team. The reference was spot on. Beth Linton, Elizabeth Kennedy and the Woodpecker IEA family welcomed us with open arms. My daughter has thrived with her coaches and teams. The farm is lovely and is a gem in Caroline county. We are there multiple times a week and I constantly hear the instructors reinforcing the specifics of each horse. I grew up in an equine horse program and understand that like people, horses have unique backgrounds, temperaments, likes and dislikes. The instructors consistently teach respect, safety and appreciation for each horses personality and needs. It is clear that the Woodpecker Family are passionate about our equine friends and in raising responsible, safe and skilled equestrians. They also care very much about each rider and helping them fulfill their potential. Having spent countless hours around both coaches they also set clear expectations of mutual respect and mentoring among team members. The horses are well cared for and have a staff "aka family" who knows each of their needs. Many barns would get rid of horses who have outlived their lesson utility. The Woodpecker family has a very sweet horse, definitely the oldest horse I have ever known. He lives his retirement wandering beautiful hills and pastures, dozing in the sun, having every need met and being petted and loved by countless children. He raised many children to ride and is now living his retirement in comfort, as he should be. I hope if I were over 100 years old (in people years) that I would be allowed to live my life in comfort and companionship as this horse is. Every one knows this horse, he is like a living legend on the farm. If you are seeking a barn with velvet curtains and a barn attendant to tack up your horse, this is not the facility. If you want a barn that has a family heritage of raising generations of riders and horses, this is your place.
