When I moved to NOVA in 2014, I went to VCA Woodbridge out of convenience since it was so close to where I lived. I immediately knew without a doubt that Dr. Shackelford was going to be our vet going forward. She has been with us through the loss of two of our dogs due to age and even sat with us on the floor, crying and comforting us when we lost one of our beloved hounds. We have moved out of the Woodbridge area but that hasn't stopped us from making the drive so that our pups get the best care and attention not only from Dr. Shackelford but from the rest of the incredible staff at this location. We always feel like we have her undivided attention, she listens to our concerns, answers our questions and gives us her honest advice and opinions. When we have needed referrals she has provided great recommendations. We would follow her anywhere in the DMV if it meant we were able to ensure our dogs were able to receive their care from her.

I would definitely give them more than 5 stars if I could. They take care of your pet as if they are their own. I literally treat my pup just like my child and whenever I freak out about something I notice with my fur baby, I schedule an appointment and they NEVER EVER make me feel guilty for coming for even the smallest concern. I also love their Care Club Program is the absolute best! Worth every penny! If you have a pet, I highly recommend this animal hospital.

After going here with seemingly no issues for 7 years, I went here with my dog with clear issues. I was told my dog was fine when I said she wasn't and I was gaslit into thinking that was true. She then continued with probiotics for amonths while she had soft stools and diahhrea - even followed up by text that she was still indeed not ok when she clearly wasn't. Upon follow up they then tell me to go to the ER. The ineptitude and rudeness is too much to ever return. Avoid forever.

This animal hosptial was able to help us with our Dog who died while my family and I were on the west coast for vacation. They were able to take our dog to cremate her. They gave us her back in a cute box with a name label. They also gave us her paw print mold. We miss our dog dearly but thankful we can keep her ashes forever!

VCA Woodbridge is absolutely wonderful. After kindly treating our Jessie for prostate cancer and helping us let him go today I cannot thank them enough. Doctors Boyce and Meyer were able to keep him comfortable, giving us a little more time with him. I cannot forget the vet tech and admin staff for their kindness and efficiency. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I called ahead and indicated my dog had two bleeding paws, have my information and was told to "come right in." I drove 20 min and when I got there I was told there would be a 4-5 hour wait... . You told me to come right in, not you are in line to be seen in 4-5 hrs. A total waste of time, personal energy, gas, money.

I'm giving 5 stars based on one emergency visit. My little fur buddy was acting strange last evening and by this morning (Friday) was showing signs of discomfort, not eating or drinking. His reg vet couldn't see him until Monday and recommended VCA as emergency vet. I called them & was told to bring him right in. When I got there they had already retrieved his records from reg vet and checked us right in. They have a large, friendly and competent front desk staff that was handling everybody as they came thru the door. Waited only a few minutes before tech came out. She did a good job of collecting fur patient info and gave an accurate estimate of my wait time (1 hour -- pretty well spot on). Then the vet did a good job of explaining the results of his exam & discussing options for tests and treatment. He didn't appear rushed or bothered by answering questions. Finally, the pharmacist who brought out the pup's Rx's was diligent in making sure I understood dosages & delivery. I do not consider the final bill to be any way exorbitant for the attention & care provided from entry to exit. I also note that the waiting area was clean, odor free, offered water, coffee and (clean) restrooms. (As a side note, every other customer there also seemed to have high regard for this place.)

I love this animal hospital they're honestly the best. I must admit that they're a little pricey but the customer service is amazing and you can tell that they really care about animals. They treat all the owners with respect so I definitely recommend them. They are very professional.

I had to take dog there for an emergency. They were the most compassionate staff I had ever encountered. We had never been there before but really felt like family. I will be bringing my other dog back for care regularly.

Once upon a time this was a 5 star vet. That has changed and the quality of actual care is now a 1 star. They are more interested in getting you on a yearly "agreement payment plan" that 75% of visit is sales pitch and only 25% care. The appts are far out and wait is long when there. Now if your dog needs care for an issue that is even worse. The emergency dr is often NOT there and they will not help you. THAT IS NOT CARE. If I wanted to be referred out for care why am I a patient with you. Everything that drew me to this clinic is GONE. It is about the money and the animals DO NOT get the respect they deserve. Go elsewhere.

We have been taking our fur babies here for almost 12 years. Dr. Osier and staff are absolutely amazing! They are the most personable and caring people. The compassion they showed when we recently lost our 10 year black lab, and several years ago when we lost our 12 year old Maltese, the hand written cards, the calls to check on us, mean the world to us. They truly do love our fur babies and if they were their own. I highly recommend VCA Woodbridge Animal Hopital to anyone is need of care for their pets.

This is not my vet of choice. I haven't been going to my vet for years. However, I had taken my dog to Petsmart for his grooming appointment! After about him being there for only about an hour, I received a call from them letting me know the groomer had cut his leg and he was bleeding. He was being transported to VCA by a manager and I needed to meet them there for an emergency appointment. Upon arrival, the Petsmart grooming manager sincerely apologized and let me know it was a small cut but it is procedure for them to take them. My dog, Polo, was already in the back. I checked in and waited in the waiting room. I would say this was a complaint of mine. They do not allow you in the back with your pet. That just makes me uneasy esp since he was taken there and I didn't get a chance to see him or for him to see my face for reassurance. I waited about an hour in total. Dr. Boyd informed me that Polo was doing good, the cut was "superficial" however she was going to put sutures, give him antibiotic, and he'd be going home with the cone of shame! . I was given aftercare instructions and scheduled for a 10-day follow up so they sutures cancel be removed. I appreciate this facility taking care of my fur baby! Aside from not being allowed in the back, I have no complaints! They were pretty busy in there also! My fur baby is doing well and on his road to recovery

I don't have an issue with any of the services provided, I only have some confusion concerning the check out process. So, I have pet insurance through Trupanion, which markets itself as one of the only companies that offers vet direct pay, instead of the reimbursement method. In other words, if your visit is covered by Trupanion, they will pay your vet directly and immediately, instead of you having to pay for the vet services out of pocket and wait to get reimbursed days later. On their website they have a "Find a Vet" too lol which shows you which vets in your area use Trupanion's software and accept direct pay. All of VCA's hospitals are listed, including this one. Trupanion even has a press release on its website announcing its partnership with VCA in order to provide more affordable veterinary healthcare. But when I called in to schedule an appointment with this vet, I asked the receptions if they accepted Trupanion, just so I could gauge how much money I needed to bring for the visit. The receptionist had NO idea what I was talking about. At first she acted like she couldn't understand what I was saying, as if I had an accent or something (which I don't). I repeated my question. She still didn't understand, and kept saying "no we don't accept pet insurance, you have to go through your company to get reimbursed. We require all payment up front." She was kind of rude about it. My main concern is, so does VCA accept direct pay during checkout from Trupanion? If so, why doesn't the staff at this hospital know that? And if VCA doesn't accept Trupanion's direct pay, then why are they allowing Trupanion to use their name and logo on their website and in press releases? And what should someone do if the staff has no clue what you are talking f about? I didn't end up going here, because I've never been. And I was contemplating it since Trupanion's website says this location takes their insurance. But upon interaction with the receptionist, I decided to find a different vet who took Trupanion, and actually informed their staff about it. I included screenshots of the Trupanion website along with the link the VCA-Trupanion press release.
