Yes, the VEC as a whole is inconvenient and unhelpful when you try to call. I went to the Alexandria location and they are appointment only, scheduled out about a month (at the time of writing). This Woodbridge location, like the others, is unable to answer the phones when you call. There is no way to reach a real person by calling. However, their phone machine mentioned “no appointment needed.” I took a risk, drove an hour, and was able to walk in, tell them my issue, and after a brief wait, they have helped me get my unemployment PIN. Their employees are very kind and helpful. The VEC system sucks but this location is full of helpful and kind people. It’s not up to them I’m sure whether they are able to receive calls and they do not control the VEC process or websites. The least they can do is provide great customer service in-person and they do so. They have many computers, provide printing service (up to 10 pages), they assist you with the computers, and their location is super clean. This experience was a breath of fresh air after dealing with the VEC customer support phone number constantly “not accepting calls at this time” while being unable to schedule a callback. If possible, if you are near this location, I encourage you to visit this location. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THEY DO NOT CONTROL THE VEC, THEY ARE ONLY HERE TO HELP YOU.NOTE THIS LOCATION IS CLOSED FOR LUNCH FROM 12:00pm - 12:30pm.

Don't understand why they hold the name "Virginia Employment Commission" as they have absolutely nothing to do with them... told this by an employee...misleading. Should be shut down or renamed to community center as that's what they are.

Phone lines never work. Call back feature never works. People never answer your questions or solve the issues caused by their systems even though it can take multiple weeks to get in contact with someone. Actually may be worse than dealing with a DMV office.

Absolutely the worst place to try and receive assistance. The Supervisor does not want to do her job. In fact she waste time telling people they have to come back and make an appointment when she can actually help them. The state of Virginia should be ashamed to have an office in this area with this type of customer service.

I cant give zero. The site is garbage, its always down, or just broken. The phones open at 0800 and by 0803 they tell you they are too busy and call back later in the WEEK. Not day not we will get back to you. Just screw you people who are in real trouble we dont care. This state needs to be sued, this disgusting Governor Northam needs to be sued. Everything about the VEC is absolute trash.

The VEC is definitely not helpful. I'm trying to NOT talk to them by setting up my online account and do everything there, but for months I have not been able to setup my account. I've been put on a list twice to see if my account would get fixed, but nothing. I call to try to get this online issue fixed but I can NEVER reach anyone. It's very frustrating to deal with an incompetent organization and people. I've been doing everything by phone, and it's not easy to do anything with the VEC.

SEE FLYER BELOW FOR CLEAR UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE CENTER IS ABLE TO DO- PHOTOS: I am giving 5 stars because (SUSAN-thank you for your time) the people here are doing what they are supposed to do and well with kind respect. THE ISSUE: When you call Unemployment for the state in regards pay, IT, etc. The people here are a resource to get a job and in no way to be able to see the details of unemployment claim. The reason this is not clear is due to the same issues why IT is messed up with the portal. Please see attached information sheets to help utilize the people here. Please be kind to them - they are here to help.

Also confirming they are a complete joke, do not waste your time or energy on this organization. You will never talk to a person and just get automatically hung up on when you go through options on their tele prompt. I guess they will just keep the money I paid into them and I will move on with my life, they have no self respect or respect for others.

There is no way to reach them: it's a constant busy signal. I got through once and left a message, and actually got a call back, but missed it because of the time difference in Colorado.

Never ever answered their phone since 2020 I need to up date my address nothing I miss my hearing 3time because my address wasn't up date I send fax again it still not up date I don't khow what to do

They are most definitely a joke I’ve been calling for 2 weeks and they are constantly trying to send me to uidirect but I can’t login so I’d have to speak to a costumer service agent right. That entire customer service number is a waste of time

Never in my life have I had to go through this headache with Virginia Employment these people don’t want to you pay you it months before you get your money. You work Virginia and live in D.C and they act like you aren’t supposed to get unemployment benefits what a complete joke and wast of time REMEMBER IT NOT YOUR MONEY.

Getting any sort of help is impossible, either you get transferred around to different people or they drop your call. One of the worst state agencies I've ever had to deal with.
