I recently went to Dale City Animal Hospital w a foster cat I have. They recently moved and have a new facility which is large, clean and very welcoming. I got an appointment approximately a week or so after I called. The front desk staff was courteous and nice and I was checked in right after arriving. I did wait a little for my appointment but that’s pretty standard for a veterinary office. We saw Dr Drake whom I found to be very informative and was willing to listen to my concerns, which I had a lot of. I really liked the way she seems to summarize her findings and she was gentle and compassionate with my foster who is an older cat who has not had the best life before coming into our rescue. I was very happy with her plan of action and her recommendations. She called me as soon as she had the lab results which I appreciated and gave me an outline of what our next steps should/could be. Again, I found her to be very informative in her explanations and the possible plan of treatment. I was very surprised when my phone rang at 8:15 tonight and showed DCAH. She had received a lab test we were waiting on and had taken time out of her busy day (when she probably just wanted to get home) to let me know the outcome. I thought that was pretty great. All in all, I’m very very pleased with everything at this location and I consider myself to be pretty picky, and Dr Drake is a caring vet whom has a great “bedside” manner, or should I say table side manner ?. Thank you DCAH and Dr Drake for being so good to my sweet foster boy who deserves the best after his first 12-15 years of life which were not so great.

Ever since I brought my pups home I've used this Vet service and truly love everyone in the staff. My boy always greeted everyone because of how nice they are, and they took awesome care of my girl growing up, and helping me with education about her litter of pups. They educate me and take care of my family as if it were theirs. I highly recommend!

Doctors and staff are awesome. A beloved family pet was brought in with a potentially life threatening issue. After a minute of consultation, Dr. dropped all remaining daily appointments and conducted surgery that day.

Quick but comprehensive. Though, the doctor seemed afraid of my big dog. I would expect her to know how to deal with pets of all sizes. He’s pretty chill unless you’re acting meek and afraid. The service was good though. They weren’t pushy about getting unnecessary things which I can appreciate.

They are very nice, kind and compassionate. However, they never seem to know what your pets medical history is. I've had the same cat diagnosed with asthma three times. I went in August because my cat was having trouble breathing. They diagnosed him with asthma and told me to start using an inhaler with him. I go again in November, they offer to do X-rays and diagnose my cat with asthma AGAIN and prescribe an inhaler. I ignore that, since I already have and am giving him an inhaler. I tried to refuse the order, they kept represcribing it. I had to call them to explain they tried to sell me an inhaler twice. I recently brought my cat in yet again, and without checking anything in his records they say they need to do X-rays aaaand diagnose my cat with asthma ? I suggest it might be a respiratory infection and they send me to CVS to get medicine meant for human children, which they tell me will be difficult to give to my cat since it is raspberry flavored. I go to CVS, they've never heard of it. I've ordered some respiratory medicine that is meant for cats from Chewy. It arrives end of the week. Hopefully that clears up the problem. They also insisted on doing a parasite test to rule out parasites even though he just had one done in November and is an indoor only cat. They seem to know my cat, he is friendly to everyone even at the vet, so they're always glad to see him, but it seems like there is no record keeping or sharing of pertinent information. Theyll say something lile "have you given him anything to help?" I'll say "yeah the nose drops" then they'll ask me specific questions about what sort of medications he is on. YOU prescribed them! You tell me! I don't know if there's a lot of turnover in the job, or their computer system is difficult to navigate but everytime I visit it is like I'm in the twilight zone being told yet again that my cat has asthma and treated like I haven't done anything to fix it when I've been taking him to the doctor every few weeks for months. Also every time I'm there they're all super dramatic in a way that really stresses me out, making it sound like my cat is terribly terribly sick. Obviously having trouble breathing is potentially dangerous, but he's purring and walking around wanting pets from all the vet techs, this isn't a cat on deaths door. Not to mention he's had the same problem without it really getting worse (or better) for months. I just wish they would look at their own notes instead of us starting from square one every time

I am so happy to have found this practice! Everyone there was so kind, patient, and helpful. You can tell that they not only care for you fur babies' physical well-being, but also their emotional well-being (which is so important for pets who are not too thrilled for visits). They do not rush their care and take their time to make sure your pets are comfortable while conducting the check-ups. Both my dog and cat saw Dr. Hunt and she was absolutely amazing! 10/10 recommend this animal hospital!

Our healthy, 1-yr old, fur baby (mixed lab) was unable to walk, loss of mobility in her hind legs after receiving care from Dr. Hunt at Dale City Animal Hospital. My husband and I have attempted to contact Dr. Hunt to no avail. We ultimately had to seek emergency care for our pet canine at a different veterinary hospital in the early morning hours on 12/29/2023 after a vet visit with Dr. Hunt on 12/28/2023. We were quite concerned that after our one year old pet dog’s visit with Dr. Hunt that our pet dog began to suffer lameness/immobility, heavy panting, and yelping when touched where she received treatment (wellness/preventive, blood draw, shot, etc) administered by Dr. Hunt. Dr. Hunt reached out to us hours after the emergency (via voicemail message) after receiving the medical report from the veterinary hospital where we had to seek emergency care for our pet dog.Currently, we have not spoken directly with Dr. Hunt to explain our pet’s complication(s) with walking/lameness, lack of a bowel movement, elevated temperature, and sensitivity/yelping when our pet dog is simply touched where Dr. Hunt administered an injection. Our inability to reach Dr. Hunt was not for a lack of trying. After receiving the voicemail message from Dr. Hunt, we contacted the Dale City Animal Hospital, was placed on a brief hold, and then told that Dr. Hunt would give us a call back. After several hours without a telephone call from Dr. Hunt, we telephoned the Dale City Animal Hospital again in an effort to speak with Dr. Hunt about our pet’s complications after the treatment by her/Dr. Hunt. After another unsuccessful attempt to speak directly with Dr. Hunt, we were politely told by the receptionist/front desk (Jennifer) that Dr. Hunt is seeing other appointments and ‘may give you a call today.’We never received a call back from Dr. Hunt. It is extremely concerning that a healthy pet (1 years old) experienced complications involving lameness/immobility, panting, trembling, an elevated temperature and the treating veterinarian lacked any urgency or care to speak directly with the pet’s owner regarding the care of her patient (our family pet).Dr. Hunt appears to be pleasant and professional, but when our pet experienced complications that required our pet receiving emergency care at a Veterinary Hospital after receiving preventive, wellness care from her/Dr. Hunt, Dr. Hunt simply could not be reached. As we were told, she had appointments …As far as the status of our pet dog, her health & mobility is improving. The staff at the Veterinary Hospital where our pet dog received emergency services provided an explanation, recommended care & prescribed medication for the pain to help with our pet’s recovery. The communication alone was welcomed from the emergency staff.Dr. Hunt’s silence is deafening. We are transferring the care of all of our pets from the Dale City Animal Hospital.
