It takes a village to raise a child. Our family and our children are strengthened by Fremont Street being part of our village. Before our daughter was born we toured five daycare centers in the Winchester area. Four of them left distinct bad tastes in our mouths: pushy sales tactics, strict schedules for 3 month old infants, children running amok and infants confined to their cribs, staff rotating too frequently. Fremont Street felt like a place we could imagine leaving a baby. Very limited staff turnover, with some teachers there for more than ten years. The executive director made time to show us around and answer our questions, and gave us advice about what to look for in a daycare if we didn't choose Fremont Street - this mattered a great deal to me and my husband because it demonstrated her sincere interest in our child's well-being wherever she wound up. Our two-year-old now has been at Fremont Street for over a year and we have been thrilled with the quality of care and instruction she has received there. She comes home showing off a new song or skill she has learned - she knows most of the numbers between one and ten, which was initially a surprise. Having a routine and following instructions at daycare has made her more amendable to routines and instructions at home, which is a real asset when its time to clean up her toys. The communication between staff and parents is great. We get a good report at the end of a normal day and a detailed report of any thing like an injury or an illness. We are impressed with all of the teachers and staff at Fremont Street. Our child loves them and they feel like part of our family. When our younger child is ready for daycare, I am confident that she will be happy, healthy, safe, and loved at Fremont Street Nursery.
