My husband and I recently visited this location and from the very moment we walked in the door we're greeted by Scott Henderson. Our visit quickly went from a customer/buyer transaction to one of feeling like old friends running into each other and chatting it up. We laughed, joked and talked casually for quite awhile. We explained to him what we were in the market for. Take a wild guess -he found it! He didn’t quickly try and give us just anything, instead Scott listen closely, paying attention to every detail and he found us exactly what we were looking for. It truly means a lot knowing that you are seen and heard. Thank you Scott!

Scott Henderson was an absolute pleasure to work with on the purchase of my Volvo XC90. He answered every question, anticipated a few that hadn’t crossed my mind and shared some awesome tips and tricks (features). Go see him. You won’t be disappointed.

Dropped off my moms car for a diagnosis and picked it up with more broken issues. Take your Volvo to a real Volvo dealer

Like death and taxes, dealing with car dealerships seems to be one of life’s necessary evils, but in the case of Don Beyer Winchester, they turned out to be more like an unnecessary evil - everything about my purchase would have gone more smoothly if they had just not been involved.
The VW model I wanted had been impossible to find during the pandemic and I was getting ready to give up, but when the 2024 models started trickling in I figured I’d take one last look. I found one on the VW America website, and it was Don Beyer Winchester that had it.
This was outside my usual orbit, but I didn’t want the car getting away, so I jumped in my old 2007 VW and drove out there immediately. Given Don Beyer’s high profile as a Virginia politician and his long history selling cars, I figured I could count on a decent level of competence and integrity. Turned out I was wrong.
I bought the car on the spot. It didn’t even bother me that the sales manager held out for $4 of the $154 discount I asked for to get the price of the car down to a round number. I was quoted a payment which seemed OK to me, so off I went to the finance office.
The finance guy immediately quoted me a payment over $200 higher than what I had just been told on the sales floor. Flashback to the 1980’s Rosenthal dealerships - the epitome of automotive sales sleaze….
The finance guy had loaded up my payment with every kind of protection and insurance imaginable - many of which duplicated or overlapped. I had to decline them one by one just to get back near the original payment I had agreed to.
My credit union had suggested I consider buying “gap insurance” (for $395). It was $1,500 here, but when I expressed interest in it the finance guy immediately dropped it to “his cost” of around $600, and I asked him to go ahead and add it. The next morning I realized it was still a waste of money - since I would be paying the car off quickly and it was so overpriced - and called to cancel it, which he did. I filled out a cancellation form and was told the money would be credited to my car loan within a few days. THAT WAS EIGHT AND A HALF MONTHS AGO!
I have diligently called every two to four weeks to follow up on my refund, and gotten a Grimm’s Fairy Tales collection of crazy explanations for the delay, always with the reassurance that my refund would then be immediately processed manually. Still hasn’t happened.
The last excuse I was given had to do with a nationwide hack of the software “all” automotive dealers use, which had led to stop-payments on “all” checks issued by “all” dealers using that software. Hilarious!
Don Beyer Winchester also blamed software meltdowns for not getting my registration handled within 30 days. Inexcusable! They underhandedly charge every customer $999 to get your new car registered - a simple process that anyone can do at the DMV in about an hour.
This transaction took place in October of 2023, a solid month before Thanksgiving and the cross-country road trip I was excited to take in my new car. Unfortunately I had to buy overpriced airline tickets at the last minute because my 30-day tags had expired and my permanent tags were nowhere to be had. They couldn’t even get that done.
So, is there a moral to this story beyond Murphy’s Law? Obviously, if you can, I suggest you find a different dealership to work with - that can’t possibly be a bad idea. If you feel these guys are your only option, I’d get my money lined up in advance - any bank will do that for you these days - and negotiate a straightforward cash price with the dealership. Then categorically refuse any protections or insurances they offer you (if they’re not scams, they’re wildly over-priced). Finally, refuse to pay the $999 “processing fee.” It’s a bald-faced cash grab on their part, and there’s a decent chance you won’t get anything for your money anyway.

Scott H. helped us, good experience in buying and he well explained this complicated vehicle. Love my new XC40. The driver assist takes a bit of getting familiar with but just a great drive.

This review is late, but I still want to recognize the Don Beyer Volvo dealership in Winchester. I had an outstanding experience in purchasing my 2021 Certified XC90. Ambyr was my salesperson, and she was incredibly helpful as we went through the sales process.
I had just had an awful experience at the Beyer Volvo dealership at Dulles where I had to walk away from a car after two offers were rejected by the sales manager there. He insisted that I pay the full sticker price for the vehicle and would not negotiate a fair price for the car.
The experience with Ambyr and her sales manager was night and day compared to my experience at the Dulles dealership. I knew which vehicle I wanted to purchase and had done my homework on a fair price.
After letting me take the XC90 for a test drive and helping me with all my questions, I presented my offer to Ambyr. Her sales manager quickly accepted it. I was thrilled!!! The XC-90 was much nicer than the one at Dulles and was even more expensive - but completely worth it. I was so glad that my deal fell through at the Dulles location.
I highly recommend Ambyr, her sales manager and finance manager. They even let me bring my golden retriever puppy inside to give him a break from being inside my car.
It is a bit of an extra drive to get to Winchester from the DC area but totally worth it. I believe you need to to get out the DC area to find true customer service and a dealership that actually wants your business.
Thanks again Ambyr and team. I love my certified XC-90!

Terrible service! I’ve brought my Atlas here for scheduled maintenance with few issues. Nine months ago I tried to call and email the service department about an issue. I received no return calls and only one email to schedule a callback which never happened. Recently I had another issue in connection with repairs from someone rear ending me. I brought the car in and they couldn’t find anything wrong with an intermittent issue. I was asked to call Kelly immediately if the problem persisted. It did and I called Kelly, leaving a message which never got returned. I called back a week later. I spoke to someone that said they would contact the bodyshop to discuss the issue. I called the bodyshop on my own behalf. A week later after being contacted by the bodyshop, Ali is refusing to service my vehicle. What a ridiculous place! And for full disclosure I was angry when I called the last time and yet not unprofessional. What kind of dealership can just throw away customers??

Don Beyer Volvo made my first car purchase easier than I had ever imagined! Scott Henderson was beyond kind, helpful, and informative. I had called the day before mentioning my interest in a certain car on the lot, and when I pulled up the next morning, he had the vehicle all gassed up and ready for me to test drive. I was not expecting to be in and out with a brand new car within an hour. As I left, I had a group of them waiting to congratulate me on my big purchase! I would suggest them to any one looking to buy a new car.

I have used Beyer Volvo several times for service on my 2014 Volvo. Their service is second to none. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The check in process is easy as you can even schedule appointments online. Nick is usually the person that I communicate with regarding service. He is always willing to help me get to where I need to go while the car is being services. The communication is phenomenal. I can't say enough good things about their service at Beyer Volvo. The only negative I could think of is it's more expensive than if you went to a general garage but, I feel confident that my Volvo is getting serviced correctly at Beyer Volvo.

Made an appointment to test drive a vehicle on the lot hours before. I had also called in 10 minutes prior to notify when I was arriving. By the time I had gotten there, I was told the vehicle was just sold when I had just gotten off the phone with the rep. Madness

Hands down, the best dealership I have dealt with. Sales was incredible. They took the time to understand what I was looking for and didn't push me to get a quick sale. Service has been outstanding. You can tell they care as much about my car as I do. This dealership clearly understands that building a relationship and establishing trust goes a long way to developing life long customers
