I arrived at this business at 2PM because I saw on the internet that the place closes at 3:00 pm. The guy said that he closes early on Saturday and because I had a lot of stuff he could not help me. If this company had any type of professionalism he would either update the hours on the internet or stay open the posted hours. Unacceptable.

Good selection of quality jewelry. Fair prices. He let us look, answered our questions but didn’t crowd us. When we were ready he was very personable and very helpful.

I had scrap gold and when I tried to sell here, It was anything but straightforward and honest. I asked what the weight was and what he was paying per ounce... he told me the penny weight and the total he'd offer and when I asked if he could covert it to ounces for me he just told me that was the standard. I had no idea what he was paying per ounce still, so I left and went to Cooper's jewelers - man, what a difference. The woman there showed me her scale and computer screens, which had the weight listed multiple ways as well as what they were paying per weight, and the total offered. Very transparent. Oh, and coopers paid over 20% higher for the same scrap!

We met with Bob today to sell our gold scrap and have him look at some diamond rings and sets. He was very Kind Very Funny. I think people that gave him a bad review do not get his humor. He treated us well, gave us a fair price for our scrap. Good experience with Bob.

So torn on this review but I can see that others share my experience so I'll chime in. First the good stuff: LOTS of old jewelry which I love. Everything but the diamonds are fairly priced. I suspect the business model is just to sell as many diamonds as possible and not worry so much about the rest. The son is decent to work with. This shop has more inventory than anyone could sell in two lifetimes and zero online presence. Which brings me to the bad stuff. It's really clear that the Bob guy should have retired long ago. I've never been in and spent less than $1000 but he always acts like he's doing me a huge favor. I am always polite and respectful. Both he and his son have quoted me prices and then changed their minds on things or flat out refused to sell things in the case that are FOR SALE with tags on them. I honestly have been embarrassed at the way Bob has treated other customers when I've been there. Everyone is greeted with suspicion. He's always agitated. This is clearly not his cup of tea. The rules change about what methods of payment are okay on a whim. He insults people. He refuses entry to customers during business hours. Basically it's not worth going in if his son isn't there. It's such a shame. I would buy a ton of stuff from this place if it didn't make me so uncomfortable to go in. Lots of missed opportunities here.

I've been going to see these guys for years. I still wear Native American jewelry I bought from Bob years ago. Bob and Jamon make Pawn Stars look like babies!

Boscowen has an impressive selection of estate jewelry, not all of it high quality, but enough of it. The owners are a crabby old man and his knowledgeable son. Never mind the old coot, it's worth the trip.
