I drove from New Kent which is a thirty minute drive . I got there right at 6:30. They were letting someone out the door. I had two packages with labels printed. They would not let me in. They said they turned the computer off. Very disappointed in UPS. I did tell them that I had driven a half hour … they didn’t care.

I'm pretty disappointed with my most recent visit to this UPS store. I come to this location very often, not only for Amazon returns but other various shipping needs. This past visit however, I was informed that I had to purchase a bag or box to send in my Amazon return that was already packed and taped in a shipping box. The box it was packed in was the original box that Amazon shipped it to me in and still had the shipping label attached (this was a customer pack return and I have done many of these previously without issue). I proceeded to remove the shipping label in front of the employee assisting me so that the new label could be affixed however, I was informed that this box was not acceptable. I explained that this is the box that Amazon shipped it to me in and showed her the label that I had just removed in front of her. She then proceeds to call over her manager and she immediately says that I have to buy a bag or box because "UPS is strict on what box it's shipped in" and stated that since it had the manufacturer name on the box that it wasn't accepted. (The box was a standard brown shipping box with the manufacturer name printed in black; not a full graphics/product description box) I tried to explain that this is the box Amazon shipped it to me in, showed her the label I had just removed from the box, and told her that this is the box that Amazon said I could ship it in. She refused and again said since it had the manufacturer name on the box that it wasn't accepted by UPS. I found that statement particularly interesting since I was also shipping back a warranty replacement Away suitcase. The box that it was packed in had the manufacturer name (Away) on both sides of the box, but it was not an issue and had already been processed by the employee helping me. I decided at this point, I'd just buy the bag since it's apparently this locations new attempt at making money off of Amazon returns. After I left the store, I decided to reach out to Amazon again and confirm that I did not hallucinationate them saying that the box it was shipped in was fine for returns. Sure enough, they stated that the box it was shipped in was perfectly acceptable and I did not need to purchase any additional bag or box. I have attached a screenshot of my messages with Amazon to back up my statement as I've noticed the store owner/manager likes to reply to comments stating that this is Amazon's policy and not their decision. Additionally, UPS also makes no statement regarding logos or names being on boxes for shipping.

New employee (as described in an earlier customer’s review), was short and rude with me about an Amazon return. She said that I needed to print out my return code (or she could do it for a mere $3.21) and that it could not be packed in the box which it was sent to me in. My wife has now packaged it up in a new cardboard box, but I don’t really know whether that would be “accepted” and I am uncertain what to print out. I left in an angered and disappointed manner..she was rude by just saying “next” as I was leaving. She, as mentioned in the response to the previous customer’s review, may be correct, but she needs to be more tactful in explaining requirements, rather than being so know-it-all and rude. The owner needs to talk to her about her customer service, demeanor and attitude. If she doesn’t change, she should, for the good of this locally owned business, be fired. When I return, I will be sure to wait for someone else to wait on me, rather than her. I am quite certain that she displayed the same rude behavior to at least two other customers who wrote similar views. Obviously, any counseling she may have received fell on deaf ears.

I never leave reviews but because I did not stand up for myself in the moment, I will do it now. I just left this location and I am writing this as soon as I could. It isn’t about what was said, it is about the WAY it was said to me. I did not deserve your rudeness and your low customer skills. I do not know if it was the color of my skin or if you were not having a good morning, but THERE WAS NO REASON FOR YOU TO BE RUDE. It made me feel bad and uncomfortable.

I came in yesterday afternoon to do a few Amazon returns , and I was already having a bad day but Destini helped turn it around for me with being so helpful and so fast with my returns. I’m so thankful that the ups store has such nice and understanding employees!
