The Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center is a large and impressive facility that serves as the main entry point to explore the historic area. Visitors can purchase tickets, find information on current events and activities, and enjoy free parking with shuttle service to various stops throughout Williamsburg. The center has friendly and knowledgeable staff ready to assist, making it easy for visitors to start their day or get help planning their visit. Inside, there are two large gift shops offering a wide variety of history-related items and souvenirs, along with a great movie that helps explain the sociopolitical climate of the colonial period. The center is well-maintained, clean, and offers ample seating and large bathrooms for comfort. The surrounding area is huge, with a museum and walking areas that could take days to fully explore. Visitors can participate in interactive activities such as court sessions, guided tours, and demonstrations by craftsmen showing how they made shoes, furniture, newspapers, and books, which are all very interesting. The town is rich with history, including sites like the governor’s Palace, churches, blacksmith shops, and taverns, all of which can be explored on tours or by walking. The volunteer staff and guides are eager to share stories and information, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. Visitors are advised to bring good walking shoes and prepare for a slow-paced but rewarding day of sightseeing and history.

The fountain map and raised map are very cool! We enjoyed our stay... read full comment
