Dr. Silverstone and his team are amazing! We found him after exhausting all our options trying to find the right treatment for our little schnauzer with lung cancer. She is 12 years old and her health has been pretty good up until this point. We are so thankful we found him! Of course he hasn’t been able to cure her cancer yet… but he sure has had a major impact on her quality of life.
We have spoken with and visited many different veterinarians since her diagnosis back in January, including a trip to NC State. We have had every test imaginable and in the end, we simply didn’t have any good options…we decided against surgery, radiation and chemo for several reasons but most importantly because her life expectancy still wasn’t good and her quality of life would have been terrible.
We basically ran out of options but before we gave up, I called Dr. Silverstones office…
I was shocked at how much they seemed to care. I sent everything to him via email prior to our appointment and he read everything, I mean everything prior to our appointment!
At our appointment, we decided to treat her with some medications that he felt might be effective and might help her….This was a game changer and her quality of life improved significantly!!!! If we hit a bump in the road, we go back and he pulls something else out of his hat, we go home and we march forward.
I have complete trust in him and genuinely feel like our girl is getting the best care we possibly could from him and his team.
I can’t say enough about them and how thankful I am that we found him!

I'd rate 10 out of 5 stars if I could... Dr. Silverstone and the entire staff of Vet Hosp of Va Beach are nothing less than saints! My family was in the middle of a military PCS transfer from Texas to Germany with all flight tickets and pet transfer arrangements paid for (if you're not aware, this is a very stressful and expensive process and requires a USDA vet check within 10 days of travel). In the middle of our move, my mother was hospitalized, and we needed last minute vet checks. Not only did the staff accommodate 4 new patients in one day, they arranged for overnight processing of the USDA certification. Unfortunately, the UPS flight was delayed and would have resulted in us getting our certificates a day too late. But, Dr. Silverstone personally went to the mail distribution warehouse to locate the envelope containing our certificates, which allowed us to travel with our fur babies...way above and beyond anything we expected. Not only did they demonstrate incredible commitment to providing quality vet care, they showed us that they really care--period! If we lived in Va Beach, we would never take our pets anywhere else. They earned our respect and loyalty! If you want a vet clinic who will treat your beloved pets like you do, go here!

Dr. Stuppler is my favorite veterinarian of all time. We followed him here from another practice that was within walking distance of our house…he is that good. He is thorough, gentle with the animals, and provides anticipatory guidance and a wealth of information beyond more typical answers to questions. He wants you to understand the why behind the science and as a healthcare professional myself, I really appreciate the additional insight. VHVB has a real gem of a provider and I’m so tempted to continue taking our pets to him even though we’ve moved closer to Richmond. Plus he has a soft spot for beagles and we have a whole team of them. ? Thank you for restoring my faith in veterinary health providers, Dr. Stuppler! This location and its patients are so lucky to have you.

Dr. Silverstone is the most caring, compassionate veterinarian I have ever met. He goes above and beyond to ensure that he does everything humanly possible to care for you and your pet. We recently got the devastating news that our 3 year old boxer had lymphoma. From our very first meeting I knew we had come to the right place. I cannot ever say enough about how dedicated he was helping us to navigate through the last few months. We sadly lost her recently but I am certain she had the best quality of life right up until the end due to his loving care. Thank you Dr. Silverstone and your staff for everything! You are the best!

If I could give this vet negative stars I would. My boyfriend and I took our 3 year old mixed male dog in to see them last October. Our biggest mistake and regret of our lives. Our dog had not eaten since Monday and we took him in to see the vet on a Wednesday. They completed blood work and said that everything looked normal and there were no signs of distress or infection. Fast forward to Friday of the same week and our dog still had not eaten and was becoming very lethargic. We took him back to the vet and they performed X-rays, which we never even got to see. They told us that our baby had eaten a non metal foreign object and it seemed to be stuck in his colon, so they sent us home with lactulose, which is technically a stool softener to help pass bowels. I am in the healthcare field, so I should have known to ask how they expected him to keep medicine down when he was throwing up anything he would eat or drink. Two days later, our dog went and hid behind our couch and that’s when we knew it was serious. We took him to an emergency vet and they did more blood work and X-rays. Their X-rays showed that his entire intestines were blocked by the “non-metal foreign object” that these vets stated were just causing “constipation”. We ended up driving to an emergency hospital in Richmond and on the way there we received a call from one of the vets at this institution and all they stated was that “this is why it’s very important to not leave anything lying around” because it’s dangerous for dogs. Our boy made it to the vet in Richmond and was getting prepped for surgery when we received a call that they could not get a blood pressure on him. We immediately headed back to Richmond and when we arrived we were told they were performing CPR on our baby. Less than 15 minutes later we were saying goodbye to our first dog that we had gotten together. The vet sent us a card and we were contacted by the receptionist to ask how we were doing. It has been 6 months since this catastrophic event and I have gained enough courage and strength to finally share our story. We just adopted a new puppy after much grief, guilt, and contemplation of if we would be able to trust any vets again. Moral of the story is, I would NEVER EVER bring my pet to this vet office. I would instead drive 2 hours to Richmond instead of step foot into this facility ever again. They never reached out after that first time. I blame you Veterinary Hospital of Virginia Beach for overlooking a problem that cost our sweet boy his life. Just please , take your pets somewhere else. They do not care about you or your pets, they just want the money and to send you home so that you have to come back and spend more money since you did not fix the problem. I will do everything in my power to ensure that no one or family has to go through the trauma that this vet caused my boyfriend and our families. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE !!

Dr. Silverstone is great. He's always taken great care of my anxious Golden Retriever, Luke and our other family pets. He's respectful even in times when I've been in a tough spot financially. He helps prioritize the most critical tests and procedures and let's me know what can wait when needed.

went today to get my baby rat treated, they ended up treating all of my babies for me and the dr even measured out all the medicine to their different weight ratios for me. They are so kind here and really worked amazing for my budget. only 170$ to treat 6 rats is absolutely amazing and i couldn’t thank them enough. i’ll be recommending this place to everyone i know with other exotic babys!

Semi-reasonable for Virginia Beach. Probably not as expensive as other places.

3yr old 10 lb. Very healthy dog Presented with vomiting, diarrhea, low energy and heart racing. They did blood work with glucose numbers so low other vets said it could not be possible and be alive. They treated for vomiting and sent me home. 2nd vet immediately diagnosed her with anaphylaxis and started treatment but that took 10 hours to happen because we went to the above first. 60 hours of treatments: plasma, transfusions, drips...and she eventually could not fight any more. Anaphylaxis has a .05% mortality rate depending on how quickly care is managed. You decide. I would not recommend for anything other than yearly visits at most. The above thought she had some rare obscure disease because of low potassium. The real numbers were the opposite of what their results were. They just needed to recognize their bloodwork was completely off. And redo it. They still won't own up to completely missing her diagnosis. Just because you're shown the bill before he does anything on your pet does not mean he has any skill to diagnose their health issues. Complete inability to diagnose my dogs very serious issue. Sent me home with vomit meds. She had vomiting, diarrhea, racing heart and very droopy. To only look at one symptom is a complete lack of any skill.
