I love this church. It has been my "home church" most of my life. My family started going to St. John's in 1989 when I was in 2nd grade. I love all of the growth and beautiful artistry that has been added over the last 15 years. The atmosphere and people make you feel so welcome, and there are lots of ministries to get involved with.

I don't want to mess up the ratings, but the website says confession every Thursday, but this is not the case. The bulletin clarifies there is no confession the first Thursday of the month. This should be corrected on the website!

Vacationed in Virginia and found this beautiful church. What a large congregation with all of the pomp & circumstance of a very traditional Catholic Church.

Dear beloved faithful,It is with utmost joy and gratitude that I extend my humble and heartfelt blessings upon the sacred grounds of Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. As I gaze upon the magnificent architecture and masterful artwork that adorns this holy sanctuary, I am transported to a realm where heaven and earth intertwine in perfect harmony. The beauty of the church's architecture is truly awe-inspiring. From the moment one approaches its grand entrance, adorned with a reverent and resplendent statue of that most saintly and heavenly scribe of scribes, the glorious and divine theologian St. John of Patmos, a sense of awe envelops the soul. The craftsmanship and attention to detail speaks volumes of the devotion and love poured into creating this otherworldly haven.Perched in a picturesque setting, surrounded by the serenity of nature, Saint John's radiates tranquility. The gentle whispers of the wind seem to carry prayers to the heavens, allowing worshippers to find solace and renewal in the embrace of God's creation. It is a place where the soul finds respite from the demands of the world, and where one can truly commune with the Divine.Yet, it is not just the physical attributes that make Saint John's a haven for spiritual growth. The heavenly community that thrives within these sacred walls is a testament to the love and compassion that abounds. The congregation, united by their unwavering faith, extends a warm embrace to all who enter, creating a sense of belonging and kinship that is truly inspiring.Behind this flourishing community stands a wonderful, caring staff whose dedication knows no bounds. I can personally attest to their selfless service, extending from the priests to the volunteers, and most especially their staff psychologist Dr. Glenn Bailey (a true witness and champion of the timeless inspiration and experiential power present in the Holy Eucharist). They are the living embodiment of the teachings of Christ, nurturing and guiding the faithful with unwavering grace— a shining example of what it means to truly live the Gospel and to bring the light of Christ into the lives of others. In the spirit of my own vocation as, dare I say, an aspiring saint, I commend Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, for their unwavering commitment to fostering a spiritual refuge for all who seek solace, love, and guidance. May their light continue to shine brightly, drawing hearts ever closer to the Christ.✟

My family tried to go to Mass on 6/18/23 but some KoC were at the doors to the sanctuary and told us to leave. Never experienced being denied entry to a church service. Disgusting!

Very welcoming. Meaningful homilies. We go here when we are at the beach. They also have a 7:30am daily Mass. So if you get up early you can get there before the beach day begins.
