We were in the area at the Asian market on Great Neck and walked down to Pollards and decided to go in and get something quick to eat. The door was unlocked and the open sign was on with all of the lights on so we went in. Before we could make it through the second door the lady took off to the back and the other lady that was randomly laid out across the chair said it’s 8 o’clock and the girl that went to the back came back out and said oh we are closed. Before I could say okay have a nice night, the lazy looking girl laying down yelled out “Not tonight!” as we were leaving. The rude unprofessional behavior was uncalled for and if you were closing you should have been locking the doors and turning off the sign so customers know to go elsewhere. I don’t care which city I am in Pollards is just ghetto af unless they are catering and you don’t have to deal with anyone. It’s been a long time since I’ve eaten there because the food is just okay at best but you definitely don’t have to worry about me coming back. I am sitting in my car typing this review before I drive off and all of the staff already walked out of the building five minutes later. Did they clean anything because they were just laying around talking. Thank you for not serving my family. We may have just avoided a potentially unsanitary place.

I used to work for Jonny Pollard and the london Bridge restraunt when they first opened over 50 years ago. I've been all up and down the East Coast while I was in the military, and there's no point in looking for the best chicken restaurant because no one beats Pollards! Nope…nope nope. Ordered some food (2 pc fried) chicken BLAND not a piece of salt and pepper and Hot sauce didn’t help. Even the soda was flat. Not a great experience but I’m willing to try other locations….this one ain’t it.

Been going here for my whole life, and it is the best fried chicken in town.

Setting the standard for fried chicken in Tidewater for many, many years. Hard to beat and still a great value!

I have loved this place since we originally moved to Norfolk/Virginia Beach in late 1976. As a little kid, and later as a teenager and then young adult, I've always craved Pollard's fried chicken. We had Pollard's catering over the years too many times to count. I left Virginia Beach in 1989 and whenever we're back, Pollard's is our first stop! We arrived 30 minutes prior to closing on 9/15/23 and had fresh chicken right out of the fryer. The front counter young woman was very pleasant. Sometimes places don't quite live up to storied memories, but Pollard's absolutely does! Open a branch in Tampa!

Pollard Chicken is a family friendly dinning experience. They serve the best friend chicken in town at an affordable price. They have daily specials, chicken and dumpling soup as well as a good variety of desserts. I highly recommend this restaurant for dine in or take out. They also offer catering services.

Great food. Just need to improve on amount of chicken. Sometimes when I order a large box of chicken gizzards they'll give me a decent amount, most other times it will just be a layer... Something they should definitely work on. Easiest way??? Go by weight.
