My wife took our pup in because he had a cough and asked about getting some antibiotics because he has had upper respiratory infection before... 5 hours and $1300 worth of unnecessary tests later, she left with the antibiotics she originally asked for. It seems like she was extremely taken advantage of. Her full review is below.

I was taken advantage of, and I want to warn others about this vet clinic.
I’ve had my dog established here since the beginning of the year with no issues until now. Recently, he developed a cough after a hike. When I tried to schedule an appointment, I was told they mainly take walk-ins during the week. Since I had open availability, I brought him in.
At check-in, I made it clear that he was coughing and gagging, but not bringing anything up twice. I even mentioned that he had the exact same cough earlier in the year, and antibiotics had worked immediately. I specifically requested the same antibiotics again. After a while, the receptionist told me the vet didn’t remember prescribing antibiotics before. I found this odd, but I waited.
After some time, they asked if I would be okay dropping him off since they were busy. I didn’t mind, but I didn’t think it was necessary. I hadn’t spoken to the vet yet, and I was only asking for antibiotics. After more waiting, they insisted, so I reluctantly agreed to leave him.
They then brought out a clipboard with a list of potential procedures. When I asked for clarification, I was told not all of it would be done—only what was absolutely necessary. I was reassured that, for example, if one test was fine, there would be no need for another. This seemed reasonable, so I signed the form, trusting that only essential tests would be performed.
FOUR HOURS passed without a single update. I called to check on Kkento, as he has separation anxiety. They said he was doing well and mentioned the vet had just received his X-rays and blood work. They told me to expect a call soon. At this point, I was confused and worried—why had X-rays and blood work been done at all? Another hour and a half passed without a call, so I drove to the clinic and said I would wait.
When they finally brought Kkento out, they made me go to the parking lot instead of a room. They told me all the tests had come back fine. The vet said Kkento had likely sniffed something irritating, causing the gagging. She then prescribed antibiotics—the very thing I had requested when I first arrived.
Then came the shock: a bill for $1,253.05. I was completely blindsided. Standing in the parking lot, in tears, I paid nearly $1,300 for tests and procedures that were completely unnecessary. They even gave him subcutaneous fluids, which were entirely unneeded. The receptionist brought the card reader out to the parking lot for me to pay. I should have stood up for myself at that moment, but I was in shock. So, I’m standing up for myself now with this review.
Why couldn’t we have just tried the antibiotics first, as I had requested, and done follow-up testing if they didn’t work? Why didn’t anyone call me as the bill climbed from $300 to $500, $800, and beyond? Not once was I informed of these charges as they escalated. This whole situation was handled terribly, and I was taken advantage of. It felt like dealing with a shady mechanic who charges for everything when all you needed was a new filter.
Any response or apology from them now will fall on deaf ears. The only way to make this right is with a refund, but I doubt I’ll see that $1,253.05 again.
Please, don’t trust them with your pet or your wallet.

My engagements with Owl Creek were hands down the best vet & customer-service experiences I have ever had.
The staff diligently worked to assist me with international travel requirements for my two cats, even helping during off hours and personally contacting me when need be. From the client care team, to the technicians, to the management, I received kindness and attentiveness throughout the entire process.
Notably, the veterinarian who assisted me, Dr. Ann Ayre, was exceptionally knowledgable and supportive.
I would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone even close to Virginia Beach. They have my full trust with animal care needs and if I ever find myself in the area again, I will undoubtedly register my pets with them.

They have been consistently and dependably awesome. I have a three legged cat that was recently diagnosed with non-regenerative anemia. They have done so much for us, and have made this process easier. I understand that my baby won't live to her expected life span but they made sure both her and us are equipped to handle the next few years. Since we've been working with them, my shy, timid cat has come out of her shell and has become as sweet, rambunctious, and delightfully adorable as she's ever been. Since working with them, they've helped my girl become the most authentic version of herself. And even though she is dying, I've never seen her happier. I am so thankful to these kind, giving, generous folks for taking care of her and taking care of us.
Thank you to the front desk folks who fawned over how adorable she is, and laughed at her admittedly ridiculous name (DJ Leg O' Lass Roadkill a.k.a BIG SPLEEN), thank you to the doctors and the vet techs that helped us better understand her ailment, and thank you to every supportive person who understood how hard this was for everybody. I am so grateful. Thank you all.

Our 7 week old puppy was very sick. They were proactive and prescribed a course of action to make her well again. They took time to explain everything so we could understand and follow through with the treatment.

I recently boarded my elderly cat, Goldie, at Owl Creek Veterinary Hospital, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the exceptional care she received. Goldie requires daily medication, and I was naturally a bit anxious about leaving her. However, the kind and attentive staff at Owl Creek put my mind at ease from the moment I dropped her off.
They went above and beyond by sending me regular text messages and pictures of Goldie, which was incredibly comforting. It was clear that they genuinely cared about her well-being. I highly recommend Owl Creek Veterinary Hospital to anyone looking for compassionate and reliable care for their pets. Thank you for taking such great care of Goldie!

My dog had her innitial visit at this Vet today, I decided to change Vets after moving from the Bay to the Oceanfront. My first impression is customer service is excellant! My Golden Retriever needed a vaccine in order to attend daycare next week. They scheduled her for a next day appointment. She was scheduled with the new Dr who was very detailed in her assessment. I was very pleased with her attention to detail and she answered all my questions. DR was knowledgeable and personable. The Vet has convenient hours and is open for patients on Saturday. They also have daycare during the week and overnight hotel availability. I am very satisfied with their services and the prices are reasonable for Virginia Beach. I highly recommend OWL CREEK VET HOSPITAL.

Great staff and care. We are from Out of town and our dog developed an ear infection shortly after getting here. They got us in the same day and we were happily surprised at the service and cost. My fears were put to bed when I saw the bill and I expected an urgent / emergent visit to be double. The follow up phone call the next day was also very much appreciated. While we don't want to have to come back again. We know where we will turn when we are in the VA Beach area
