Car was ready when I got there, the staff are very professional and understanding. No issues at all and thankful for it since I was able to go to a business trip while my car was at the shop

The location is an old shopping center that they are trying to open back up. Like any place nowadays you just have to be careful of your surroundings. I had a new employee. She did very good finding ways to help herself, looking up stuff and calling someone to add info to the computer. They got me in and out fast. So she catches on fast & they have experienced workers that have been doing this type of work for a long time. They made everything convenient for me during my visit, Gary & the young lady. The only thing I would suggest is security or law enforcement for this area. Like any other shopping center to do round to make sure everybody is okay. Also, if employees have to do work behind the building. Make sure someone is with you or let security be with you. Some people can be aggressive & follow you. You gotta know how to handle yourself to deal with aggressive people. Forget being nice, be nice to tell them to go about they're business. You can tell it was a nice shopping center. I was referred there by a dealer because they didn't have any rentals after reading these reviews, I can see what they mean. The $50 deposit supposed to go back to you after you turned in the rental and they inspect it so if you don't get your money back dispute it with the manger, your bank or take them to court. They take pictures and you need to take pictures too but they supposed to send it to your email. What I would suggest since they already know where the damages are on or in the car to print out a copy of the car and get the customer to verify the marks that was already there or any additional damages. I see that someone has done that and provided that information up here so they won't get somebody else for that damage. They have pulled someone from Hampton Marvell to assist with the service so hopefully things will change but to me, it seems the dealer already knows this but this may be the only rental service for this area. Hertz has make the changes within there business. They may have to hire & fire until they can get it right.

This location came through for me when another location that i had made a reservation at nearly a month prior was unable to fulfill the reservation I had made and didn't tell me, I had to call and ask. Garrett ensured he would have a vehicle for me when I arrived and even though it wasnt what I originally needed, he was able to atleast get me something to accommodate my travel needs in a pinch. Alice helped me at the desk and made the entire process a breeze. It took a huge stressor off of me and I will definitely add Garrett and his team to my list of people to use in the future for rental cars. I cannot even express my gratitude for them saving the day and easing the anxiety of not having a rental car for my trip. Highly recommend this location if it is close to you.... I had to travel a ways to get to them but they made it happen and saved the day!

*Read before renting through Hertz in the Norfolk/ Virginia Beach area*Rented a car through Hertz Car Rental on Laskin Rd Virginia Beach, VA Friday 15Sep23. 6 hours after picking vehicle up popped a tire around 11:30pm. Called insurance company to begin the claim and the Emergency Road Service provided by Hertz. I was told by the Emergency Road Service the car was going to be picked up in 60 to 90 mins (12:30am-1:00am). Without any heads up and two hours later i called the towing company (OMG Towing) and they told me the location I was at was out of their area. Had to call the Emergency Road Service again. A new towing company had been assigned (Dag Mechanic) and they told me it would be 45-60 mins (2:00am-2:15am) before they were able to pick the car up. I waited... and waited, nobody showed up. New towing company told me to leave the car unattended and put the key in the gas tank. Being the car was a Tesla, that wasn't an option. I had to leave the car unattended and unlocked with the key card on the floor. Come to find out, the car wasn't picked up till late the next morning. The car was communicated by Emergency Road Service to be dropped off at Hertz Norfolk Airport where i'd give the Hertz Norfolk Airport a case number to exchange rental vehicles. I ubered to the airport ($40) to find out they weren't in receipt of the car. I called the towing company and they said it was dropped off at the Hertz on N Military HWY Norfolk. I called the Hertz on N Military HWY and they were also not in receipt of the car being dropped. So i called the towing company again (continuing to do the Hertz associates job for them) and they confirmed it had been dropped off at Hertz on N Military HWY Norfolk. The customer service at the airport was short, rude and beyond unhelpful. I wasn't able to exchange the rental car at the airport since they had no "proof" that it had been dropped off at the Hertz N Military HWY. I then had to start a new rental contract.Due to being closed on the weekends, Monday morning (18Sep) i called Hertz Laskin Rd (where i originally rented the vehicle through) to ask about the status of the car. Before i was hung up on, they said they would look into it. I drove to that Hertz to talk to them in person. They told me they'd send an email to the Hertz N Military HWY to verify if they were in receipt of the car. Instead of making a call to them, he wanted to send an email that would take minimum one business day to receive a response. (The car was due that day, 18Sep) I drove to Hertz N Military HWY (doing Hertz Laskin Rd could have and should have done) to ask about the car only to find out they told me they haven't received it. I called the towing company, and they sent me pictures of the vehicle being at that location. I relayed what the towing company told me, oddly sparking their memory. They had the car the whole time... They charged me one day instead of the full rental even though i drove the car for 6 hrs, wasted money, time and gas on the current rental vehicle only to do do their job tracking down where this car was at.No customer representative was helpful at any point during this process. Attitude was thrown at me (Especially at the Hertz Norfolk Airport) and 0 compensation for the rental.I will NEVER do business again with Hertz, nor would i recommend anyone their way.Dollar Rent a Car located at Norfolk Airport was a much smoother rental by far, and should have gone to them again. Being their was a Hertz closer to my location was the reason i tried them instead. If 0 stars was an option, that would have been the rating i would give.

On the way to pick up vehicle with a reservation that I made in advance Hertz called stating that there was no vehicle available. Not just my particular vehicle, but that they over-rented and do not have ANY vehicles. The employee did not attempt to find me another vehicle at a different site for the same price, which is industry standard. I was instead given a lackluster apology and no resolution. I called Hertz corporate who found another vehicle at another site but advised me that although it was not my fault, I would be responsible for the increase in price. When I became enraged at the idea that I am somehow being penalized for poor service, I was, again, offered a lackluster apology and no solution. I was told that because I booked via a third party, Expedia, that I should call Expedia. I did. Expedia is currently working to resolve the matter. I will NEVER rent from this location or from Hertz again. Beware!

Some may not give this location five stars because u do have to be patience while waiting to be serviced. However Marvell runs this store on his own the company needs to get him some help. I don’t think it’s fair that he has to run the front desk… return cars.. answer the phone.. walk half way across the parking lot to get cars.. AND deal with impatience customers. I watched him on several occasions hold the store down while remaining positive friendly motivated OVERALL THE BEST while dealing so many things alone… He even stays after hours to make sure everyone has been serviced. I don’t believe the young man even get breaks being that he is the only only one working (Is that even legal) He’s definitely a great asset to the company and deserves a raise… So if u ever go to this location PLEASE RESPECT THE FACT HE IS WORKING ALONE.. MARVELL IS THE BEST AND DESERVES A RAISE. My five stars go to him NOT HERTZ.

Hertz is a hassle, inconvenient and has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I would never rent from them. My vehicle was down under warranty so dealership rented a car from hertz for me to use. For starters , the hertz employee was using scare tactics to try to upsell on a 15$/day for a cracked windshield protection on the rental. I didn’t want the inconvenience of being out of pocket at all and I could potentially be in this rental for several weeks. I was told by the Hertz employee at the counter that the dealer was taking care of it all I just needed to use Credit card for a 50$ hold. After one week, Hertz started charging me $49 a day which I didn’t realize until getting a notification that my credit card was over the limit seven days later. The location has no phone number listed and No way to get in contact with them so I calked customer service. No one could speak English well at all at customer service and they (5 different reps) said it was just pending charges even after informing them they were no longer pending but an actual charge. Horrible communication and very small selection of vehicles available (3) while all the other rental places have 100’s to choose from. I will never personally rent from Hertz. It’s such a huge inconvenience and very stressful.

At ORF VA, they had 30 people in line with no cars. Its incredible they take your money and then just make you wait. SMH

Worst customer Service and business EVER. Don't ever rent from Hertz. I went to see my son graduate from basic. The hotel we stayed at valeted my car and in the middle of the night the lift ended up coming down on the car. The hotel and valet took full responsibility and asked that Hertz called them so the could get the information and pay for the damage. Hertz did care. They argued with me and their very unprofessional, condescending and argumentative Supervisor Kim B. and I use that term loosely proceeded to antagonize me while I filled out the incident form, trying to involve the other customer service rep. This went on for 5 minutes while I tried to fill out the form. I finally had it and told her she was a condescending B----. Then and only then she quit harassing me and said she was going to put me on the DO NOT Rent list. I told her I didn't care because I would NEVER rent from Hertz again. She replied "GOOD!" Mocking me. I told her she's leaving out all the unprofessional behavior she was doing. I'm trying to get the information to the valet service and Hertz has not responded to my emails. I have never rented from such an unprofessional, inferior and incompetent company before and I never will again. I will continue to find sites to make sure I review them so hopefully it saves others from this kind of headache. Thank God for social media. Too bad they don't have a negative star rating. One star is WAY too good for them.

The gentleman who helped me today was the only good thing about my experience (except the price). They moved but haven't updated their address online (taken weeks). It took me an hour to reach a live person. God forbid you choose the wrong option (listen carefully). If you try to call VA beach location, wait for all the options before picking one. You will eventually get the actual clerk at the VA location. If you rent through Expedia, don't bother trying to extend the renter. It's cheaper to turn it in and do another reservation. I almost paid an extra $117 (double) by calling the number provided. Good luck! Wish I got the young man's name at the VA location. He handled my frustration superbly. What a wonderful demeanor. Someone raised him right!

The address listed is not correct. They said they moved a month ago. They are now on Laskin Rd. When I said this they like 3rd party sites aren't updated, Google isn't either. Really inconvenient when you are catch uber to wrong location. Do better.

I made a reservation for this location online. I received a call later on that day from the store, the Representative said that they did not have any cars available for me and that my reservation would be canceled. I was charged the $40 no-show fee anyway. I called customer service and notified them of the issue. I was told the funds would be remitted back to my account within 5-7 business days. 45 days later, I still have not received the credit back to my account. When I called customer service, I explained my issue and they told me my reservation was never cancelled and that the no-show fee was a valid charge. Two more calls later after speaking with two different people, the issue was resolved. I will never - EVER - rent from a HERTZ anything ever again.

Pre paid for a car rental and they canceled it 2 days before. I was headed to visit family and now i am going to be stranded home for the holidays. If you dont have any cars then dont list that they are available.
