The vet who euthanized our cat had a severe tremor that made the process seem painful and brutal for our sweet cat. They didn't insert an IV into a vein to sedate her first and instead injected the meds straight into her abdomen. She took a while to stop moving and breathing. It was agonizing for me and my children.

We lost our dog of 13 years. When we called this company they were so professional and caring. We were going to use their full services until we woke up the next morning and our dog passed in the night on his own. We decided to go with this company for his cremation services based on how helpful they were. When we called after hours and couldn't get ahold of anyone (because they were closed), we had a return call the next morning before their business even opened. Highly recommend.

I cannot describe how grateful my husband and I are that these services are available to us. I initially emailed, outlining the issues our lab-pitty mix, Hannibal, was exhibiting. The responses we got were respectful and informative; we made an appointment for a quality-of-life assessment. Dr Mindy Brewster came to our house and spent a long time with us discussing our options; Dr Brewster made her recommendation, making sure we understood there was no pressure. She recommended euthanasia as opposed to hospice or palliative care. It was kind of like we KNEW what we needed to do, we just wanted to make sure. I had already read all of the information on what to expect; as difficult as it is I HIGHLY recommend anyone else do the same. My husband had not read the info, so Dr Brewster explained what Hanny's passing would look like. Hanny passed pain-free and in deep sleep; he was on his Serta bed in front of his fireplace, and he had a peaceful, calm, and beautiful death thanks to Dr Mindy Brewster and Hampton Roads Veterinary Hospice. It was the last gift we could give him.

We have used Hampton Roads Vet Hospice and Palliative Care for the passing of two of our beloved dogs, Holly Berry and Ellie Mae. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. They are incredibly compassionate, very considerate, and make one the worst days of your life as gentle and as seamless as possible. To be able to allow your animal to pass at home, in their own space, with their own smells, in their own bed with their family and fellow animals (if you have them) versus the sterile and sometimes cold (though at no fault) environment of a veterinary office is truly a gift and worth every dollar. Highly encourage any pet owner having to face these difficult choices to consider using this practice versus having to transport your animal elsewhere during such a challenging and often physically and emotionally painful time.

I was very sad to have to call or use their services, but they were amazing. I was very appreciative of the terrific vet who came to my house to help my cat cross over the rainbow bridge. As much as I hope I never have to use them again, I know I will because they were just perfect for me when I needed them.

We had to make the sad decision to put our lovely boy of 13 years to sleep a few weeks ago, one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make. Dr. Tyler Carmack and her team came out to our house and we're as kind and professional as you could ever want in a situation like that. They took their time they explained everything they were going to do gave us all the time we needed knowing how heartbroken we were to lose our boy. I don't think you can say that the procedure was amazing only for the simple fact that we lost our precious boy but that being said I don't think we could've asked for it to happen any other way than it did. I am so blessed and thankful that Tyler and her team were able to do what they did and how they did it. They treated us and our boy with the upmost respect and dignity all the way to the end. If you're looking for somebody who cares about what you're going through in this hard time I would definitely recommend these people to you.

We were so very grateful to this Veterinary Hospice team for the incredible service they gave to us as we said goodbye to our beloved retired greyhound Tiffany, who was suffering in great pain. Recommended by our own vet, from the moment we called yesterday and spoke to Adriane, who answered our questions and arranged the wonderful team's arrival, we were so pleased. Dr Jeannette Schacher, the Veterinarian, called on the way and actually arrived a few minutes ahead of time, and was so comforting from the moment she arrived. She immediately realized how much pain our Tiffany was having, and said she would first give her a shot to relax her and relieve her pain, working right on the floor where Tiffany laid, and within 5 minutes Tiffany was relaxed and peaceful. She then encouraged us to be right at her head and side while she then gave the final shot to stop her heart and breathing, telling us everything she did, every step of the way. Our sweet pup passed without a flinch, so beautifully. Dr Schacher placed pads beneath Tiffany and there was no soiling of our carpet. Afterwards, she made a paw print with Tiffany's name, and then her assistant Savannah helped wrap Tiffany in a blanket and remove her on a stretcher for cremation. (We could have chosen burial). We are more than incredibly appreciative to Adriane, Dr Schacher and Savannah to helping to free our Tiffany from her suffering so she is now free, and doing so in a most compassionate, professional, respectful, dignified and caring way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

I called this place not expecting much and what we experienced was beyond exceptional service! We were so sad and devastated at the loss of our beloved Chihuahua Linus. We are from California visiting family here in Virginia when our sweet boy became ill and we never expected for our precious pet to pass away. The staff at Hampton Roads were so compassionate and understanding. We informed them that due to our travel plans we would be leaving town at the beginning of January and they made sure to return Linus to us before we left town. Thank you all at Hampton Roads! We appreciate you and all that you have done to make this difficult situation a little easier for us. We also appreciate the love and care that was shown to our Linus when he was picked up the next morning after he passed away. Their professionalism and compassion speaks volumes!! We are forever grateful and would recommend them for their exceptional service.
