“It is a welcoming place where you can meet and get to know the Lord with others who want to do the same thing. What more could you want? I was a parishoner here for 13 years. I was married here and had 2 kids baptized here. Even though I've lived out of the area now for 22 years this church still feels like home. I still know people here! I can go to mass when I visit and see someone i know. The Lord is always here. Come in and say hello to him and he will do the rest.”

“I love this church. It has been my "home church" most of my life. My family started going to St. John's in 1989 when I was in 2nd grade. I love all of the growth and beautiful artistry that has been added over the last 15 years. The atmosphere and people make you feel so welcome, and there are lots of ministries to get involved with.”

“I went here for a YEC with my church and it was so fun! Not just the friends but like, singing worship songs and listening to the sermons was also pretty fun. It can be loud, but ik am used to that. But I won't judge. Neither will GodBecause he is good???????”

“My family reunion members completed our weekend here by attending the Sunday Morn Worship Service. The greeters ,ushers, and members were friendly and accommodating. The service was spirit filled and just what we needed. I do recommend attendance. Senior Pastor Cowan, First Lady Cowan, the auxiliaries , visiting ministers and musicians displayed true love to everyone. Beautiful , spacious church and clean bathrooms.”

“I joined Emmanuel in 1971. Although I have been to other Lutheran churches in the area, I consider this church as my home. At the end of every service, I feel renewed in my faith.”

“The pastor regularly preaches a great sermon. He is spirit filled. Members love him. The music can not be better. Wide variety of programs. I am from a different part of the country and I found it hard to 'break through' the 'click mentality.' Not as friendly as I would like. Most people who attend have been going there for a longtime. Also, it appears that the men have the say and the women's place is to not question. I do love this church...despite its minor faults and I believe everyone should attend at leapt once. Strong World Missions focus.”

“I would like to personally thank the Rock Church and it's parishioners for the very generous gift of Thanksgiving provided to my mother, who resides at Princess Anne Commons. I smoked the turkey for my mom this week, and she received canned goods, stuffing, multiple boxes of cornbread, dessert, a case of drinking water, and a beautiful volume of the Holy Scriptures. What a fantastic way to express kindness and care for Virginia Beach's elderly community! Thanks so much!”
