Think or Swim - how about Sink or Swim. This is the most confusing platform I have every encountered. The platform is NOT user friendly. I have used Schwab for 20 years, Street Smart Pro, and it is easy to understand. Why change something that works?

Incredibly disheartened and frustrated with this branch. Years ago I had no issues. With in the last few months I tried reaching out via email with the ask that they contact me via email as my work hours are not always conducive to answering my phone. Instead, I received a VM a week later. I then called back 2 times leaving VM and after weeks of no response I called the main CS line. The first man I reached said he could leave a VM and email the VA Beach branch for me. I contacted the main CS number again a week later as I still had not heard from the VA Beach branch. I expressed my frustration and was called back after I explained how much money I had with them, which should not have been a factor but it seemingly was. I told the office manager why I wanted to meet with someone in person. When I met with him he looked at me and said "I don't even look at the stock market" as he told me he could not advise what to sell. He then explained I could retrieve money from two accounts I had. I explained I needed new checkbooks which he stated he would order. Before I left he said he placed the order for the checkbooks. Weeks went by and the check books have not arrived. I once again contacted the main CS and the help desk stated there were no checkbooks on order. Long winded way of saying, the VA Beach branch is not helpful or responsive. I would advise placing your money with another financial investment firm. After 25+ years I will be doing so.

absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in my 40 years of banking.

You cannot call the branch without typing the full name of the person you want to speak to on a phone key pad like texting on a flip phone! You cannot get hold of any employee at this branch without knowing their exact name. They have no way to contact the branch by phone any other way. Routes you all over the county!

Worse experience I ever had with a banking institution ever. I opened an account since May via online, I was excited after reading the reviews, and thought the process was going to be a breeze, but I was going to proven wrong. Just a waste of time, I’ll don’t have no choice to bank with someone else. The verification team takes forever to verify your account, and they do not issue a debit card whatsoever until you make an initial deposit, but even after you have to wait until your account is verified in order to get a debit card. My account was closed due to Equifax denying my application and to add insult the money deposited had received an alert from the fraud department and my account was restricted. I was unaware, at the time, and went through several reps to find that my account was restricted and my account hasn’t been verified. Now that my account is closed, I have to wait until the fraud department remove the restriction in order for me to transfer my funds to another banking institution for them to fully close my account. We are approaching the end of June, and no one can get a hold of the fraud team nor getting an accurate time when my funds will be released, I cannot get from the branch either. Just a terrible experience I had, and I wouldn’t recommend unless you can wait over a month to get verified with no debit card.

Visiting Charles Schwab office was outstanding, very kind, easy to chat with, and resolved all the challenges I had immediately.

I could not recommend any organization more highly than Charles Schwab, Virginia Beach. This branch, and my financial advisor, David Abbott, have taken me under their wing(s) and provided tremendous assistance on countless occasions. There is no life situation that they've not helped me through; David Abbott, in particular, has consistently come to aid, going way above and beyond the call of duty.
Again, I cannot recommend this branch office--or advisor David Abbott--more highly. STRONGLY recommend!

This company has been great to work with, they have been available and very responsive. This branch in particular was very helpful, the wait was negligible, the service was processional, and the location was clean and inviting.

I am wondering how difficult it is to get customer service from this bank out side of normal branch operating hours, as well as how competent / reliable their online banking is??
I have found that most banks I have tried were very formal, and thorough with their paperwork, but near impossible to reach for concerns / questions, and I am seeking a bank that is easy to get help from, even if the branches are closed....
I have also seen that most banks, including world wide banks, have a terrible online banking system that is riddled with bugs, and glitches, but almost impossible to get any technical help with, and that is unfortunate....
I am seeking to open a checking account, with direct deposit from my employer, that has a functional check card available, strong / helpful / accessible support for customers, and a solid / effective / easy to understand and use online banking website, and I will be open to trying out Charles Schwab, if these criteria can be met!!

We had a great relationship with Mike Barcliff and he is now gone. My wife attempted multiple times to contact the office and was never called back. This was not the case with Mike. This is why the rating is this low as in the past it was a 5 star. The lack of response concerns me.

As in marriage, the most important quality to look for when allowing an investment firm to manage one's life savings is trust. I've had other financial managers but left them because I didn't feel they had my best interest in mind. I knew as soon as I met David Abbott that I had met the ideal financial planner. My favorite expression of his is: "You've worked hard all of your life for your money. Now let your money work for you." After signing on with Charles Schwab, he ensured that he understood what I wanted out of my investments and chose a portfolio manager that created the perfect blend of investments that were in keeping with my goals and strategy. He is so dedicated to my interest that it was he who (finally) convinced me that I had more than enough to comfortably retire--so I did and I've never been happier. Unlike other managers I've had, David was quick to point out that he does not work on commission so there is no "motivation" for him to steer me into instruments that pad his income. That coupled with Schwab's competitive (if not the lowest) rate structure made moving all of my investments under him one of the easiest decisions I've ever made. If you want to watch your money grow while having peace of mind, give him a call. You won't be disappointed.
