Excruciatingly-long hold times (a minimum of 20 minutes) every time I call them to discuss anything mortgage-related, a tax bill, an insurance bill, etc. There is no excuse for such a large bank to have these hold times and no very well-trained support.

Terrible customer service. Never again. Goodbye M&T forever. Amazing how terrible banks can be when there are so many competitors.

I spoke with a banker by the name of Mr. Ryan Sabastian on Monday 1/27/2020 about a new credit card I received and my business checking account. Mr. Sabastian return a phone call from a message I left to his manager. Mr. Sabastian energy over the phone appeared to be as if he was annoyed for having to call me back. What I have been experiencing with bankers and customer service in general over the years is that, initially they'll be friendly and helpful upon first contact. However, as time progresses, there personalities tends to change. I thought I was building a business relationship with Mr. Ryan. There are only two banks whereby I had great experiences with regarding their personalities. These two banks are Wells Fargo and Capital One bank. There is one woman who is great to speak with and her name is Ms.Thi Ngo. The other female banker who works there seems to be out to lunch and spaced out. I just need to get a business checking debit card now. My advice is if you feel funny acting vibes with people you do business with, go to someone else.

We have a property with the mortgage held by M&T bank. We had some damage. The insurance company made the check out to me, my wife, and M&T bank. I took time off work to visit during the business day to get their endorsement on the check. Would not do it, because my wife had to be present at the same time. We both came back on a Saturday (we both work, so best to do it on a Saturday). Would not do it, because no one at the branch was authorized. No other branch open Saturday had a manager authorized. That's two unsuccessful trips because M&T bank's internal rules make life hard for customers. And still, my check is not endorsed. They will have a manager on site on a Saturday in 3 weeks. Why do they not have full service on a Saturday? Why do they have to have everybody present to endorse? This is frustrating, and not customer-oriented. (Not specific to this branch...more general, though this branch also did not have anyone who could provide standard banking services when they were open.)

They spammed my cell phone trying to sell me a mortgage. Their website often isn't even available. When I tried to close my account online, they wouldn't let me. Instead, they told me to mail them a letter. In the meantime, they charged me a $14.95 fee. Scumbags.

Not my bank to visit. I went in yesterday to cash a check. The teller was asking me bunch of personal questions which was not her business in the first place. I felt like being interrogated by a police. She made me feel awkward.

I went in today just to cash a check and had a very enjoyable conversation with Charlene, the manager. Very pleased with the customer service I received.
