Lofty Salon and Mona have helped to transform my dry, damaged curls to their healthy, shiny glory! Mona knows curly hair. I've had many bad experiences with stylists who only know how to cut straight hair. It's important to have a knowledgeable and skilled stylist and that's what you'll get at Lofty Salon, regardless of who cuts your hair. The entire staff is friendly, talented, kind, personable, and the salon is beautiful and relaxing. The products are all natural and there are specialized products that you can't find anywhere else for those with curls. My teen daughters have long curly hair and Mona always listens to them and their preferences, and makes sure they are happy with their cuts and styles. My hair is shorter and very fine. Mona gives me amazing highlights, a curly cut/layered look that still has some length, plenty of body, and the ability to wear it curly or straight. I highly recommend Lofty Salon!

Got my haircut Wed for graduation and my birthday from Mona. Left with a mullet I couldn’t tell was one because she didn’t dry it completely. There was a non-blended three inches difference between the front and back. I paid $127 for this disaster I have to pay someone else to fix, because I was expected to walk around like this until Monday. Never again. She told me it was impossible to give me the cut she had previously. Why? Don’t know. Haven’t lost hair or had a texture change. She took less than half the time she did a year ago. I would give zero stars if I could.

Always love coming to Lofty and working with Mona! Such a relaxing place, and always a great cut. I have wavy/curly hair and have NEVER been able to find a cut I like until I found her. She helped me to fall in love with my hair, and am forever grateful.

The website clearly states a child's haircut is $35. I booked a cut for my daughter - who is 8. Her appointment was for 11:15. It started at 11:20 and was over by 11:45. Hardly a lengthy appointment. Her hair wasn't even dried halfway and I was told by Carmen that the cut would be $50. I said "the website said a child's haircut is $35?" Carmen replied "it was a lot of hair". It didn't even take 30 minutes! I was not told that when we arrived. I should have been told in advance if the price is not what is clearly advertised. She only had about 5-6 inches cut. Unfortunately we won't be back because of this. I'm really disappointed.

I wanted to try a different stylist to cut my curly hair and after a bit of searching I decided to try Lofty. The salon is in the back of a building with other offices/businesses, so there is plenty of parking available. The salon is nice very a light feeling and honestly seemed more like going to someone's nice house as opposed to a salon. My hair especially the ends needed some work, and she cut off a good amount, more than what I normally have done. I don't mind getting some hair cut but my biggest thing is that I have to be able to put my hair in a ponytail. Well, once all was done I could barely get my hair into a ponytail. So honestly I had more cut than I probably wanted. I came in September and have debated on coming back given that my hair has finally gotten close to the length it was before I came. It might be a continued search to find someone to cut my curly hair. But if you have curly hair and do prefer your hair shorter, they do a great job.

I got a haircut with Mona expecting a lot out of it considering the price of the cut and overall I did not get what it was worth. I have been to several curly hair specialist in the area and so far this was the worst cut that I had gotten from a “specialist”. The customer service was okay which is why I’m giving it two stars instead of one. I was late to my appointment but they were accommodating, though, this is where the good ends. When I got there she was clearly nowhere near finished with another client and had me sitting still for a while. During the haircut there were several times she went to go check her phone or pick up what seemed to be a personal call. As for the cut, I told her what I wanted, showed her pictures of how I had it before and asked for that. What I got was nowhere close. She had cut my hair as if it was straight in the same way it would be cut if you went to a barbershop and got a $15 haircut. She used one hair product and spent about 20 minutes total on the actual cutting. During this little time I explained my routine and showed her my products which she clearly had no use knowledge of, then proceeded to give me advice counter to every other specialist I’ve been too. I was left with flat frizzy hair which I would’ve been ashamed to be seen with. Other than the cut she was very pushy about selling her product which was filled with harmful and damaging ingredients similar to every other product I looked at on her shelf. The second I got home I made sure to thoroughly wash my hair to remove anything she put in and restyle it. Several days after now there are portions of my natural curl pattern and curl clumps that are at completely different lengths making my hair look frizzier that it did before the cut despite it being healthy and tame. I am very disappointed with my experience and would highly recommend trying one of the other many specialists in the area before considering getting your hair cut here or if you haven’t tried any others before.Service: Haircut

To have a great experience at Lofty, your expectations need to be aligned with Mona's ideologies- 1) She is the expert 2) she says only 1% of the population looks good with long hair. This means that your hair might get chopped off, even if you request a certain length. 3) Short hair is her preference (similar to the second point but needs to be restated). I walked in with long, thick hair and came out with hair above my shoulders when I asked for hair just below my shoulders. After the first cut, she was planning on sending me home to get used to the length...without adding layers or style especially since I was very upset with how much was cut. If I knew that beforehand, I could have asked my sister to cut my hair in the kitchen. I asked her to add some style to it to which she did. It is still a little flat and she did say that I could go back next week for upkeep. But I really thought it was strange that I stated the length I wanted, she cut it shorter than that, she saw my reaction, and was ready to send me home because I was upset. Something about that feels very manipulative. Her big role was the cut but then wasn't going to add style because I needed to get used to the length? What? I only have to get used to the length because you (Mona) cut it much shorter than I desired! Also I don't have time to drive back and forth. After the first cut (which was a dry cut) I said my hair will get shorter after a wash and she said that she doesn't know what will happen to my hair after it dries. I expect a (self-proclaimed) "curlyologist" to have basic knowledge of curly hair. Instead, I'm telling you what will happen-I've had this head of hair my whole life, please believe me! I'm the end, my hair is blah. I said it could be cut short but I need it long enough for a ponytail since I play sports. When I got home I checked to see if I could put my hair in a ponytail, and I cannot. It also looks uneven... Two stars- Mona has some talent but as the one paying, I should have a say in my own hair whether she agrees or not. If she doesn't agree, she is in her rights to decline service. She pushed me out of my comfort zone and my hair needed a refresh and I appreciate her for that. However, I have a feeling that if I continue going to her, she will keep cutting my hair above my shoulders and that's not a look that works for me. I want a stylist that will take my viewpoint into consideration, even if they think I'd look better with a pixie cut. That's an immediate loss of my trust right there. Pro is that I can now wait 6 months until my next haircut instead of 3-4 months. But the more I look at my hair, the more upset I am that she took the liberty of chopping it all off. I've never had an experience like that where the stylist didn't listen at all and did whatever she wanted. It really feels like someone is messing with your mind. If you read reviews on other sites and on Yelp, you will see multiple people who went through the same experience I did (I think we need to form a Lofty Salon support group!). However if you are looking for a dramatic change, or if you are someone who wants to have or maintain short, curly, hair, then she is definitely your person.

Mona understands curly hair. That’s a plus.Be careful of those signs by their price listing, because without discussing it with me, I got charged a lot more than i was told over the phone for my cut and color. Once I get up-charged, I don’t go back.

This was my third haircut with Mona. Each time I said that I wanted to keep my hair long, and each time the cuts were shorter than I had anticipated but still ok and I really enjoyed them. Yesterday, however, I ended up with the shortest cut I’ve ever had (from mid back curls to above the shoulder). While the cut itself is good, I was VERY clear with Mona that I wanted to keep my hair long, but she cut it short anyway. Mona says that she can not guarantee a particular length…and that sadly proved to be the case with my last cut. When I get my hair cut I would hope that my hair requests will be honored and that the stylist will listen to me and we can work together for the desired results. This was unfortunately not the case.Service: Haircut

This experience wouldn’t have been worth $40. I so wanted to trust Mona and believe that a $110 haircut and style would be worth it (I have shoulder length curly hair), but it was a huge waste of money. The haircut ended up have to be fixed in one area after the appointment, and the “styling” consisted of having one product added and then separating each curl so I looked like a frizz ball. I was then told “this is just how your hair is”. Huge waste of money. Find somewhere else.Services: Curly hair

This was my first time going to a curly hair expert .. and I am so glad I did! I trusted Mona's opinion. I had come in there with no knowledge on how to cut or take care of curly hair! She taught me a lot and did a wonderful job! This has been my best hair cut ever ! & I will definitely be sticking with Mona at Lofty Salon for future hair cuts!Service: Curly hair
