Found this marina on Dockwa. What an amazing place and pleasant surprise. I was heading South to Norfolk from Middle River MD. Needed a place to duck in and relax for a couple of days after a long motoring trip into winds right on the nose. Then a nite at a rolly anchorage. I reserved a spot for a couple of days. On the way had some engine issues....texted Lauren at Marina and told her I would be in late as I was waiting for a tow. While I waited on the tow, Lauren got busy talking to the owner about my engine issue. Jim the owner contacted me about the issue and to get some details of the problems. He told me they would get me right. I arrived at the marina by tow at 6:30-7:00 pm and there was help waiting at the dock to tie up. Wow! What a welcome site after the couple of days I had. I just wanted a shower, a cup of coffee, and some ac. Plugged in, started ac and walked to shower. Nice clean and very refreshing. Returned to a cool boat and had a snack and went to bed early. Awoke early after a great sleep. Eric, one of the techs there arrived in the morning. Very professional, competent tech. Had figured out the issue, affected repairs and explained the issue to me within the hour. Wow.Not an everyday type of issue either. He was very considerate of my boat and of me. Jim the owner asked for some info and then generated a very reasonable invoice for the repairs. Decided to stay another day. Walked around to stretch legs later. Grounds are immaculate. No exaggeration. The residents there are very friendly and welcoming. What an amazing place. If you are in the area stop in and become a believer. If you need a slip call them. Need work done on your boat, hire them. You will not be disappointed. I wish all marinas could be like this. Great job folks! Thanks

We found this marina on Dockwa. The weather was turning for the worse, so we called to see if we could come in for a few days to duck out of the 30-40 MPH winds. They welcomed us with open arms. This is one of the nicest marinas we’ve been to on our adventures. Everyone was so kind with their time and knowledge. Thank you so much!!Met some amazing people and new friends.. thank you so much.. thank you to all the staff there who met us on arrival and made our stay so great..Defo recommend this marina if you are transiting past , heading south.

A perfect sail…As excited as I was about where I was going, I only knew a few things about my destination.Definitely, I was driving to a location somewhere on Virginia’s coast at a marina I didn’t know the name of to sail on a ship I’d never seen. After four hours of barely touching main roads to reach two-lane blacktops, I knew I was close.Surrounding me were flat fields of corn that separated unpretentious houses. That’s when the call came. My friend, Will, owner of the sailboat, called to say he’d found a better marina at a different location. He’d been searching for a better marina; there were many to choose from. While I was driving, he’d found one that he liked.“Ignore your directions,” he told me. Because I was in the middle of a pleasant and quaint part of the state, I didn’t mind the change. I knew the new destination would be similar, and, hopefully, close.Rather than guide me to the boat, Will met me at a Hardees and led me there.Immediately, I was impressed with the beauty of the marina. Nothing was out of place; the grounds were immaculate. So were the docks. I parked my car twenty feet from Will’s slip. After unloading my knapsack and snapping a few pictures, I rode with Will to a nearby seafood restaurant. Both of us were starving. Our order came quickly at the unpretentious place. Food was delicious. At sunset, we retuned to the boat, discussed the morning’s sail, and enjoyed the peace and quiet at the surprisingly silent marina. Sleep came quickly.Well-rested, we set out not long after daybreak. No one was stirring on the other boats. That was fortunate because we didn’t have to be concerned about other ships in the narrow exit channel. Nonetheless, since the channel was very shallow in places, less than five feet, Will had to guide us slowly with the help of his depth finder and his Garmin. There was little I could do to help until we reached the open water. That’s when we adjusted the sails, turned off the twelve horse power engine, and quietly headed toward the Bay. For the next four hours, we sailed as if the expanse was ours. Will handled the sails masterfully; it was as if our sailing was a whisper on the wind.I couldn’t recall feeling so relaxed, so peaceful as I did that morning. There was a harmony with the sailing and the setting even as we headed back ahead of the coming blaze of the sun.Other boats had just begun their sail as we slowly returned to the snug slip. Both of us had to work to secure the boat. And we did.Since we had skipped breakfast, we set out for a local restaurant where we hopped on stools at the bar. A friendly waitress guided us through the menu. Food came quickly. My fresh scallops were the best I’d tasted in years. Since I knew I’d be leaving for home after lunch, my only regret was that I wouldn’t taste those scallops again until I found my way back to Will’s boat.Wherever it happened to be.B.Koplen 7/20/21
