Maureen was incredibly accommodating and a wonderful host. Being able to rent a golf cart from The Bay View was a huge bonus. Rooms were neat and clean. We will definitely be planning to stay here whenever we are able to return to Tangier!

Bay View Inn on Tangier Island was the perfect escape overnight! Maureen was there to meet us and get us settled in our room. The room was so cozy and very clean. Maureen was a pure delight to sit and have a cup of coffee with us and share her life. We had the beach all to ourselves, had a scrumptious lunch and dinner at Lorraine's restaurant, and enjoyed our afternoon walk touring the island. Our breakfast was delicious. They even gave us a military discount on our stay and food! Our ferry ride on the Joyce Marie was a little choppy but our captain and mate were so fun! Stop and take the time to explore something new and different. There is so much out there to see. Thank you and we will see you all again. Love Always - The White's

So you are probably looking at these reviews because you are interested in visiting Tangier Island and you trying to figure out where to stay. Good! Tangier Island is a place where the only way to fully appreciate the island is to stay a night or two. After the tour boats leave, that's when the island really comes to life. The island transforms out of tourist mode and everyone seems to relax. The true identity of the island and the people who live there appears. In August (2019) my wife and I decided to plan a trip to Tangier Island around mid September. Our plan was to stay two nights so we needed to find a place to stay. This was our first trip to Tangier Island so our only hope was to read the reviews and make a decision from there. In the end we chose Bay View Inn B&B.Lets get one thing out of the way from the start, and frankly, it is the only negative comment I can make. Bay View Inn does not look like the bright white house with a bright red roof you see in the photo. Instead Bay View Inn, like nearly every building on the island, has a bit of a run down look. So yes, the Inn could use some TLC. But also like every building on the island, Bay View Inn has some very hard working and polite owners... Jim and Maureen. Our room was clean and our bed was comfortable. We had a small fridge, a microwave, flat screen tv connected to Direct TV, and Wi-Fi. We never used them but we could have went kayaking using the kayaks the were available for the guests to use. Each morning we made our way to a room connected to the main house for the most marvelous breakfast. If you are lucky you will get to try the blueberry muffins! Seating was perhaps a little limited but there was never a problem during our stay. There was plenty of coffee too! Either Jim or Maureen would take our order then disappear to make our food. Meanwhile the other would stay and greet newly awakened guests and kept our cups full. The atmosphere during breakfast in that room was amazing. Most of us guests mingled and talked with one another, talking about plans for the coming day, getting ideas, and telling stories. It is best to tell you that you may want to come hungry to breakfast. The food is plentiful and very delicious. In the end we were sad to leave. Maureen gave us a ride back to our ferry on the golf cart, we said our goodbyes with a hug and boarded the boat. We left very happy with Bay View Inn and we left with promises to return. If you want a good place to stay during your stay on Tangier Island then give Maureen a call. You will leave Tangier Island happy that you did.

Great people. Jim & Maureen were very welcoming. It was like hanging with people you knew for awhile. Rent a golf cart to see the island. The view from the top deck for sunsets was wonderful. We had breakfast the next morning and our host gave us some history about the inn & island. I would definitely return.

The owners, maureen, jim and david, are always so gracious and accommodating. We have been going there for years with our photography workshop participants. No one in our classes has had anything but compliments regarding their stsy at the Bay View. The. Inn now even provide their own golf carts for touring around the island. AND their brakfast is like no other you will find on the island, delicious!!They are great folks and their Inn is the best.Bill and linda lane

Stayed at the Inn for 3 days with a photography group and had a great experience. The area is quiet, the rooms were clean and the breakfasts were delicious! They even offered seconds and thirds to some in our group. Maureen and Jim are very accommodating. Would definitely recommend the Bay View Inn.

If it's a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast you're lookin for on this stunning island, you'll find both at The Bay View Inn. Our group of photographers enjoyed Maureen and Jim's hospitality and willingness to work with our time schedule (trying to find the perfect light at dawn, etc.) The Bay View is a special place.

From the moment we were picked up at the ferry dock by the owners' son we felt welcomed. A short golf cart ride away from the main part of the island brought us to this delightful hideaway. Rooms have the requisite amenities and we were able to easily walk into town. Excellent breakfast too. Definitely recommend.
